The moon shone brightly against a starry sky, the night tranquil and beautiful.

Alone on the rooftop, Adele sat deep in thought, while downstairs in the villa nestled at the deepest part of the Grand Courtyard, Julia and Glades Horne also lay in bed, exchanging pillow talk.

Ivan slept in the adjacent room. There were no servants here, no nannies; Julia personally soothed her son to sleep. Fortunately, the little guy was obedient and fell asleep as soon as he was lulled.

Resting in the strong arms of her husband, listening to his steady heartbeat, inhaling his masculine scent tinged with a light cologne, and caressing her still flat belly, Julia spoke not with a sigh but with speculation, "I wonder how far Noah Reyes and Adele have progressed."

"How far do you want them to progress? Adele isn't the type to go crazy over a handsome guy," Glades whispered back with a light laugh, his tone unusually affectionate. His wife was plotting for her sister-in-law, and he tolerated it—of course, knowing it would be for Adele's benefit. He wasn't the kind of heartless man who forgets his sister once he has a wife. If he were that heartless, Julia would surely kick him to the curb.

"I think Adele actually has special feelings for Noah Reyes too... Women, well..." Julia hinted. The man who took her virginity always felt special to a woman, unforgettable. She didn't voice this thought aloud.

Glades pursed his lips and let out a low chuckle, opting not to respond.

A flash twinkled in his dark, deep eyes.

He knew.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have so easily let Noah Reyes off the hook.

Seeing Noah Reyes ardently pursuing his sister, understanding why she was in emotional disarray, he chose to merely observe from the sidelines.

"James and Rebecca Hughes have good news; they're planning to get married. If Adele and Noah Reyes also work things out, then it'll just be Brother Henry and his twin left," Julia laughed, tallying with her fingers as if ready to play matchmaker.

Lowering his head, Glades said with amusement, "After all these years, you still call them 'Brother'?"

"Well, you never forced me to change how I address them," Julia snuggled closer in his embrace.

"They are indeed not getting any younger," Glades hinted, referring to the twins who were the same age as James, thirty-two. A man over thirty is mature, perfectly ready to marry and have children.

Viola Hanley was desperate.

She planned to have Glades, the elder brother, host a matchmaking banquet for the twin brothers once again.

Because that was how James and Rebecca Hughes first met and eventually developed their relationship.

"My dear, don't worry about their affairs. When fate arrives, even if they wish to avoid it, they won't be able to. You are pregnant again, so you should take good care of yourself, ensuring our daughter is born healthy," he advised.

Julia wholeheartedly agreed with her husband's words about fate.

Like she and Glades, for instance. When fate hadn't yet arrived, they had known each other for over twenty years without any change in their relationship. But when fate did come, they instantly became husband and wife, catching each other entirely off guard.

Reflecting on the past made Julia's heart fill with sweetness. She felt she could write their story into a novel.

"Glades, do you think I have the talent to be a writer?" Pondering that thought, Julia was eager to get started immediately.

Glades looked down and lifted her chin with his finger. Their eyes locked for a moment as he spoke in a low voice, "Are you not busy enough? You want to write about yourself, right? About us... I hope the mark of our love is etched in our memories alone." He didn't want to share their love and happiness with others.

"Your eyes are still so sharp; you can see right through anyone's thoughts and feelings with those wolf-like eyes. Speaking of which, Glades, when our relationship had just changed, what I found most irresistible about you were your eyes and your voice. Your gaze is as deep as an abyss. Staring into it would ensnare me, leaving me unable to climb out, and I'd become your captive. Your voice is low and magnetic, very pleasant to listen to. It always makes me hesitant to reject you." At the moment of registration, it was his gaze and voice that had captivated her. Foolishly, she filled in the details, and just as foolishly transformed from his sister-in-law into his lawful wife.

When she got the two marriage certificates, she even thought she was dreaming.

She had never imagined that Glades, whom she had called Brother Glades for twenty-six years, would become her husband.

Glades chuckled softly.

He knew.

He had always known that she couldn't resist his gaze and voice. So, when necessary, he would use them to captivate her, preventing her escape from the palm of his hand, making her face the changes in their relationship together, and making her fall in love with him just as he had with her. What he invested, he intended to be reciprocated.

In the business world, he was considered a cunning businessman—and since there's a saying 'there are no kind merchants,' calling him cunning isn't much of an exaggeration. In the world of love, once he realized who he loved and had invested himself, he would employ all kinds of tactics to gradually make the woman he loved fall in love with him too. That way, the marriage could last forever, the couple growing old together.

All this, he had never told her.

Yawning, Julia murmured, "I'm sleepy."

Stroking her back, Glades spoke affectionately, "Then sleep. I'm here."

"Mhm."

With a hum, Julia closed her eyes.

Hearing him say, "I'm here," she felt exceptionally safe.

He always worked hard to live up to his words.

She also knew that he would definitely make good on them.

「T City First Hospital.」

In the dead of night, the hospital was especially quiet, a silence so profound it seemed terrifying. Given the hospital was a place where life and death intersected, the quiet of the night felt all the more foreboding.

Mrs. Ruiz had fallen asleep. Rachel Bailey checked to make sure her mother-in-law was properly covered with a blanket, worried she might catch a cold from the air conditioning. Each night before going to sleep herself, she made a point to ensure her mother-in-law was tucked in.

Hansen Ruiz watched her intently from not far away.

There were doctors and Nurses in the hospital, and Mrs. Ruiz was staying in a high-class ward. Matthew Ruiz had come from A City upon hearing the news. Simon Ruiz and others had also visited, so Rachel could have been more relaxed. Yet she was vigilant, still personally caring for Mrs. Ruiz even though her mother-in-law had much improved and could now get out of bed by herself.

Even though Mrs. Ruiz hadn't verbalized it, in her heart, she had long accepted Rachel Bailey, the daughter-in-law who had married her son many years ago.

Her heart, too, was made of flesh.

And besides, Rachel was exceptionally competent now.

On her own merits, without leveraging her husband Hansen Ruiz's connections, she had carved out a niche for herself—a truly tough feat, and Mrs. Ruiz had witnessed it all. She had harbored too many dissatisfactions with Rachel in the past. Looking back, her disenchantment was understandable. A man as outstanding as Hansen Ruiz, with such an exceptional background, could have married a woman a hundred times better than Rachel Bailey. Yet, he had set his eyes on the ordinary and not particularly tall Rachel Bailey. Anyone in Mrs. Ruiz's position would have been discontented.
