Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 779 - 778: Coming Back for My Wife and Children (3)_1
The little girl tripped and fell in front of everyone, feeling embarrassed.
Actually, the only ones who saw were Jimmy Horne and a few nurses. This was a VIP ward, very quiet with few people walking around.
But falling in front of her arch-nemesis made her feel utterly mortified.
She felt as if she were increasingly no match for Jimmy Horne. They were about the same height, and Jimmy was only three months her senior.
"Stinky Camila..."
"Stinky Jimmy, I told you, stop calling me Stinky Camila!" Camila Ruiz whirled around, genuinely furious.
Jimmy Horne laughed, his smile bright and cheerful, making Camila long to tape his mouth shut.
That annoying guy! Why on earth would that idiot Florence Ford want to hang out with him?
In Camila’s mind, anyone who enjoyed playing with her nemesis was an idiot. She conveniently overlooked the fact that she herself was one of these ’idiots,’ as she often spent time with Jimmy too.
"You call me the same, so it’s all even," said Jimmy Horne as he walked toward her and took her hand. Their hands were both small, and holding hands didn’t feel strange yet. However, to Mrs. Ruiz, who was watching from the doorway, it somehow felt odd. She couldn’t quite articulate what felt odd.
"Where did it hurt when you fell?" Jimmy asked with concern.
"I didn’t fall," Camila replied stubbornly, deceiving herself.
Jimmy’s laugh was handsome and charming. Mrs. Ruiz thought that in less than ten years, this boy would undoubtedly captivate all the girls.
"Hmm, *I’m* the one who fell," Jimmy chuckled. His words sounded especially ironic to Camila.
Camila’s face grew even redder.
"My knee hurts," she finally said in a low voice, admitting that she had fallen.
Jimmy immediately crouched down to check her knee. In fact, there was no visible injury. The little girl said it hurt, but it was likely just a fleeting pain, nothing serious.
Camila was wearing a little dress with cute panties underneath. Jimmy had crouched down, well-intentioned, to inspect her knee, but he accidentally caught a glimpse of her pink panties. Instantly, the little boy’s handsome face flushed red, and he quickly stood upright.
Camila, not understanding what had happened, looked at him with a puzzled expression.
Jimmy’s general knowledge was equivalent to that of a third-grader, so he understood the concept of shame, which was why he blushed.
Camila was also smart, but not as much as the Horne brothers; her knowledge was closer to a first-grade level.
Mrs. Ruiz watched them, unable to suppress her smile. These two little adversaries are actually quite amusing, she thought.
With them around, life was truly lively and flavorful, always full of excitement.
Hansen Ruiz and Rachel Bailey completed the discharge procedures for Mrs. Ruiz, while Matthew Ruiz, her husband, packed her belongings. The little adversaries temporarily ceased hostilities, following the adults out of the hospital in high spirits.
Back at the villa, Rachel Bailey hurried into the kitchen to prepare a meal.
Seeing Rachel immediately start preparing food for the family upon returning home, Mrs. Ruiz said meaningfully to her son, "Hansen, I misjudged in the past. You’ve married a good wife."
Hansen Ruiz smiled without saying a word.
He knew his mother would one day sincerely accept Rachel. His judgment had always been sound; when choosing a wife, he valued inner qualities over appearance. In fact, aside from social standing, his looks were comparable to Rachel’s. He wasn’t considered handsome; standing next to Glades Horne and Noah Reyes, he might even seem unremarkable.
Mrs. Ruiz didn’t say anything else. After sitting down on the sofa, she seemed to fall into deep thought.
After finishing lunch, Mrs. Ruiz suddenly said to Rachel Bailey, "Rachel, now that it’s summer vacation and Camila doesn’t have school, pack up tomorrow and come stay at our house for a while. You haven’t met any of the family’s close friends and relatives yet."
Rachel Bailey was slightly stunned, looking at her mother-in-law, momentarily speechless.
When she married Hansen Ruiz, she had actually met some of the Ruiz family’s relatives. However, because her mother-in-law disliked her, she never really knew who was who. Those relatives were opportunistic; seeing she wasn’t favored by her mother-in-law, they hadn’t treated her as family either.
For many years, she had never returned to the Ruiz family estate in A City. Hansen rarely went back because of her, and even Camila had never visited the true Ruiz ancestral home. It wasn’t that the Ruiz family didn’t acknowledge Camila; rather, the little girl was fiercely loyal to her mother. She’d declared that if Grandma wouldn’t let Mommy come, then she wouldn’t go either.
Matthew Ruiz looked at her with a kind smile.
Hansen Ruiz also looked at her with a gentle smile.
Jimmy Horne, meanwhile, looked at Camila Ruiz.
Camila’s real home isn’t here, he knew.
Is Stinky Camila going home? Doesn’t that mean I’ll be short one playmate? How am I supposed to get through summer vacation without Camila to tease? Tease the little beauty instead? No, the little beauty is too agreeable; teasing her isn’t any fun.
A thousand thoughts spun in the little fellow’s mind.
Yet he had no idea that the daddy he had just acknowledged had already left his side once more.
Hansen Ruiz whispered a few words in Rachel’s ear. Rachel’s face lit up, and she quickly replied to her mother-in-law, "Okay."
Her mother-in-law personally inviting her back to the Ruiz home... this means she has truly accepted me!
A smile touched Mrs. Ruiz’s lips, though it seemed a little unnatural. Perhaps recalling the past made me feel I was being somewhat unreasonable, she mused.
Julia Bluen disliked drinking tonic soup every day, but she still returned to the Horne residence at mealtimes.
Mila Anderson had already simmered the tonic soup for her.
Seeing her return, Mila Anderson immediately instructed the housekeeper to bring Julia her soup. Glancing at Julia’s stomach, Mila asked with concern, "Julia, are you feeling tired with this pregnancy? If you are, take a break from work. Adele has some experience now; she can help you."
Gian Horne sat nearby, reading the newspaper. Hearing his wife’s words, he lowered the paper slightly, as if about to speak, but ultimately said nothing and resumed his reading.
Ivan Horne and the little beauty were already taking their afternoon nap.
Without the children’s chatter, the large Horne residence felt very quiet, carrying an air of solitude.
"Oh, right, where’s Adele? Didn’t she come back with you?" Mila Anderson asked casually.
Julia’s eyes flickered. "Adele is eating out," she replied. She wasn’t foolish enough to admit she had left her sister-in-law with Noah Reyes.
My mother-in-law isn’t as open-minded as my husband and I; she doesn’t approve of Noah Reyes. If she knew I entrusted her sister-in-law to him, she would definitely be furious.
Even though we’re as close as mother and daughter now, it’s best to keep this from her for the time being. After all, Adele is her own flesh and blood.
