Chapter 309: 10.10

"So you are Jiang Jiamian?"

Mu Qingfeng said coldly, his face filled with unconcealed mockery. "You’re the one who trapped the King for four years, hindering his great cause and preventing him from fulfilling his ambitions. It’s a pity your Jiang family was blind enough to follow such an unreliable emperor."

Now that this obstacle had finally fallen into the Huainan King’s Mansion, even if he carried the empty title of Huainan Queen, he was nothing more than a target for revenge.

"And who are you?" Jiang Jiamian asked calmly, turning to look at him. "Since you know I am the Queen of the Huainan King’s Mansion, you should kneel and kowtow, and properly pay your respects according to the mansion’s etiquette."

Queen of Huainan, what nonsense. Jiang Jiamian disliked this title, but that didn’t stop him from using it to teach Mu Qingfeng a lesson.

Mu Qingfeng’s expression stiffened. He frowned. "I am Mu Qingfeng, a trusted confidant of the King. The King is not currently in the manor. If you’re a smart person, you should understand your true position here. The King didn’t even come to greet you. Isn’t that enough to make things clear?"

In Mu Qingfeng’s eyes, the grand decorations and banquet preparations could only mean one thing.

The King intended to humiliate Jiang Jiamian publicly.

And the first step was ignoring him, leaving this so-called queen stranded and allowing the servants to assert themselves.

"Kneel?" Mu Qingfeng sneered. "You really think you’re a queen? A dignified General of the Valiant Cavalry, willingly placing yourself in a woman’s position? Too bad, even if it is a woman’s position, it’s clearly not meant for you."

Jiang Jiamian tilted his head, smiling faintly. "So you intend to disregard my status and commit insubordination?"

That smile made Mu Qingfeng pause for a split second. He quickly regained his composure.

He said coldly, "I advise you to know your place. Let me remind you, the Huainan King’s Mansion has a rule. Anyone who has killed Huainan soldiers must kneel before entering as an apology. And General Jiang, if I remember correctly, the person who has killed the most Huainan soldiers in this world is you."

Inside the carriage, Xiao Jinan’s expression had already darkened to the extreme.

His anger surged violently, barely restrained.

Just as he was about to move, he remembered Jiang Jiamian’s instruction to wait and the fact that these people were simply courting death if Jiang Jiamian chose to act.

He forcibly suppressed his rage.

However, deep disgust rose in his heart.

Mu Qingfeng, who had always seemed refined and loyal, dared to use his absence to act in his name and humiliate Jiang Jiamian.

Did he really believe that years of service meant Xiao Jinan wouldn’t dare punish him?

"Hm." Jiang Jiamian nodded seriously. "That’s right. I have killed many of the King of Huainan’s men. But as the saying goes, those in a position must fulfill their duties. Back then, I was the General of the Valiant Cavalry, and my position compelled me to act as I did. Now, however, I am the Queen Consort of Huainan, personally requested by the King of Huainan and formally bestowed by the Emperor."

He paused, his gaze calm yet sharp.

"Times have changed. You can’t expect me to kneel anymore. On the contrary, today, none of you will escape kneeling before me."

Seeing Jiang Jiamian openly admit his past and still speak with such composure as the Queen Consort, Mu Qingfeng couldn’t help but sneer. "Even if I didn’t say anything, you only need to look at the chains on your wrists to know who you really are. Since this Queen refuses to kneel and repent, then help him!"

Mu Qingfeng waved sharply toward the servants behind him.

The servants hesitated. For a moment, they struggled with whether to obey. But when their eyes fell on Jiang Jiamian, they remembered clearly who he was, the greatest enemy Xiao Jinan had faced for four long years.

Everyone knew the real reason he had been brought back to the King’s mansion.

"Go on!" Mu Qingfeng said coldly. "I’ll take responsibility for everything once the King returns."

He believed he understood Xiao Jinan’s attitude toward this so-called Queen. Even if he humiliated Jiang Jiamian, the King would not blame him.

Perhaps he would even be pleased.

Inside the carriage, Xiao Jinan was already struggling to contain his fury. His fingers curled tightly, killing intent surging violently in his chest. He wanted nothing more than to rush out and kill Mu Qingfeng on the spot for daring to humiliate Jiang Jiamian and act so presumptuously in his absence.

The servants, however, could no longer hesitate. Gritting their teeth, they surrounded Jiang Jiamian, reaching out to seize his arms and force him to kneel.

In their eyes, this former god of war, no matter how terrifying he once was, was now nothing more than a prisoner bound in chains.

With so many of them, forcing him down should have been effortless.

But Jiang Jiamian smiled.

The smile was calm, almost gentle.

In the next instant, he moved.

With a sharp clatter, the iron chain around his wrist, meant to restrain him, suddenly became a weapon. The chain snapped taut as he wrapped it around his arm, instantly locking around one man’s throat.

Jiang Jiamian had no intention of using him as a hostage.

Without hesitation, he tightened his grip.

A sickening crack echoed through the air. As Jiang Jiamian released the chain, the man collapsed lifelessly to the ground.

The servant who had rushed forward moments ago was now a corpse.

The remaining servants froze, their faces draining of color. None of them dared to take another step.

Everything had happened in the blink of an eye.

The wedding procession, the onlookers, and the guests who had come to watch all stood rooted in shock.

Mu Qingfeng’s face turned deathly pale.

"Who else wants to die?"

Jiang Jiamian’s gaze swept across them like cold blades. "Since you know how many Huainan soldiers I killed on the battlefield, why do you still rush forward like idiots? Do you think your heads are tougher than theirs? Or do you believe that just because I’m no longer on a warhorse, no longer wearing silver armor, and only have this broken chain, you can manipulate me as you please?"

His voice grew colder.

"Our positions were different back then. Today, I am clearly a member of the Huainan King’s mansion. I don’t want to kill, but why do you insist on forcing me?"

The system: "..."

No. You do want to kill!

Please don’t speak so righteously.

The system knows its host the best.

"Anyone else?" Jiang Jiamian flicked the chain lightly. "Come. I’ll grant your wish."

The servants exchanged terrified glances and retreated several steps in unison.

"And you?"

Jiang Jiamian walked toward Mu Qingfeng, who seemed rooted to the ground. "Do you want to die?"

Mu Qingfeng’s lips trembled. "N-No... I don’t..."

This Jiang Jiamian was terrifying.

Even now, in chains, he could kill with ease.

"I’ll ask again." Jiang Jiamian said softly. "What did I just say?"

Mu Qingfeng’s mind went blank. Fear flooded his chest, leaving him unable to think.

He was a strategist, not a martial artist.

Facing a battle-hardened general, he had no power to resist.

"I... I..."

Cold sweat poured down his forehead.

Jiang Jiamian sneered, contempt deepening in his eyes. "I said I am now the Queen Consort of Huainan. None of you can escape this courtesy."

Mu Qingfeng’s body trembled.

He was terrified, but his pride refused to bend.

He couldn’t accept acknowledging Jiang Jiamian as the Queen Consort.

The King had never intended this person to truly become a queen.

He would never kneel.

But the servants behind him had already broken.

Having just witnessed Jiang Jiamian kill one of them with ease, they no longer dared defy him.

One by one, they dropped to their knees.

"Welcome, Queen Consort of Huainan!"

"You!" Mu Qingfeng turned back in disbelief, his anger and fear boiling over.

Summoning the last of his courage, he shouted, "Jiang Jiamian! You flaunt your status and even kill people from the King’s residence! When the King returns, he will never let you off!"

"Oh?"

Before Jiang Jiamian could respond, the carriage curtain was lifted.

Xiao Jinan finally stepped down.

His gaze, icy and merciless, fell upon Mu Qingfeng like a death sentence.

"When I return, who exactly will I not let off?" Xiao Jinan’s eyes narrowed. "Mu Qingfeng, so this is how you act when I’m not in the residence?"

"Y-Your Highness?!"

Mu Qingfeng’s initial relief shattered instantly. Seeing the unmistakable killing intent in Xiao Jinan’s eyes, the same gaze he wore when condemning someone to death, a chill swept through his entire body.
