Raised From The Wild-Chapter 365: Engagement Party: Troubles Begin
Grace was exasperated. On such an important event, Sophie assigned her to cover the delegation from Lireya, Albanya, and Ra-Iya. From her perspective, those were people from insignificant countries. Her only consolation was that she had a chance to be close to that good-looking guard.
"They are royalties, Grace. Besides, I am your superior, and your task is to ensure you capture lots of engaging photos of these royalties."
"But..."
"There is nothing to discuss." Sophie cut her in.
Grace’s fingers curled into tight fists as she felt a surge of frustration. Sophie seemed to relish in her authority, making Grace feel like her emotions were in disarray. Needing to regain her composure, Grace decided to step away and head to the restroom.
After using the restroom, she walked out of the stall and was just about to exit the restroom when something in the corner of her eye caught her attention. She noticed a sudden movement from within the adjacent stall. With caution, she took a step back and leaned in to peek inside the stall.
Grace discovered that no one was inside the cubicle and spotted a luxurious paper bag from a well-known brand on top of the small shelf above the toilet bowl. She carefully picked it up and discreetly moved it to another cubicle.
As she peered into the paper bag, she discovered a brand new, exquisite perfume, the most recent version of a mobile phone, and a sophisticated gold wristwatch. Everything was still securely nestled inside their pristine boxes, untouched and unopened.
Grace carefully removed the items from their packaging and placed them in her spacious bag. Being a news reporter, she always carried a large bag to ensure she had plenty of room. After making sure the restroom was empty, she swiftly exited the cubicle and proceeded to the sink. There, she drenched the paper bag with water, ensuring it was thoroughly soaked. Then, she squeezed the bag as if it were a piece of fabric and disposed of it in the trash can. After drying her hands with a few paper towels, she crumpled them up and covered the wet paper bag in the trash can.
The woman in the maroon dress looked at her reflection in the mirror. She smiled before taking out the bottle of perfume from her bag. She spritzed her hair and clothes lightly, then closed her eyes and basked in the pleasant smell that filled the air.
When she opened her eyes, she realized she had done something wrong and hurried out of the restroom. What if the bag’s owner came back? She should not have sprayed the perfume.
...
At the banquet hall’s grand entrance, a stir of excitement rippled through the crowd as the guest of honor made her dramatic appearance.
Adelle Black looked absolutely breathtaking in her exquisite white gown. The gown boasted a timeless mermaid silhouette that gracefully accentuated her hourglass figure, fitting snugly from the bodice down to the knees before flaring out dramatically. As she glided down the red carpet to meet her fiance, the luxurious silk satin fabric shimmered subtly with every step she took, catching the light and adding a touch of elegance to her ensemble. The fabric draped and flowed with perfect grace, further enhancing the overall fluidity and enchanting allure of her gown.
As Charles Gray strolled, a gentle expression graced his features as he made his way to meet and accompany Adelle to their appointed seats. Meanwhile, Princess Amaya experienced a pang in her heart and a hint of bitterness in her senses. In her mind, Charles transformed into Marx, and she pictured herself walking down the red carpet to greet him instead of Adelle.
Emcee: "Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention, please?"
The emcee’s melodious voice gently roused Princess Amaya from her daydreams, pulling her back to the present moment.
The host waited for the guests to quiet down.
"Thank you everyone. Today is a joyous occasion as we gather to celebrate the engagement of two very special people who have found love and happiness in each other. It’s an honor to introduce you to Adelle Black and Charles Gray, the couple whose love story we are here to celebrate."
Princess Amaya stood there in a daze. The emcee’s words faded away as a tremor filled her chest. Confusion clouded her mind. The feeling was unfamiliar, perhaps because she had never experienced an engagement party, despite receiving a ring from Marx. Was she jealous?
Her gaze lowered to the ring on her finger, and as she twisted it, she was unaware that Leon’s sharp, observant eyes caught every subtle movement.
"Are you alright, Princess?" Leon asked with a concerned look in his eyes.
"Yes. I am fine." Princess Amaya let out a quiet sigh as a memory suddenly flooded back to her. She cast her gaze downward, her eyes fixed on the glimmering diamond adorning her ring finger.
She did not watch as an exceptionally handsome man in a dark suit slipped an engagement ring on the equally beautiful and elegant woman on the stage. They were perfectly matched.
Adelle Black was beaming happily. It was her moment. At that time, she knew that she was the envy of the noble ladies attending the party. She scanned the audience, looking specifically for someone. Her gaze lingered on the table where Princess Amaya was seated.
Adelle saw that Princess Amaya was looking unhappy and uncomfortable.
’Heh! I am pretty sure that you envy me right now, Princess Amaya. I am engaged to a man who is not only handsome but also outstanding.’
Princess Amaya glanced upward and locked eyes with Adelle. Despite the distance between them, she could sense the deep-seated resentment reflected in Adelle’s gaze.
The princess furrowed her brows. "Does she still harbor resentment? It’s not as if I intentionally bested her in every competition," Amaya thought, her words unspoken. She averted her gaze from Adelle, only to land in the defense minister’s cold glare.
As Amaya gazed at the person a few meters from her, she couldn’t help but feel the intensity of his death glare piercing through her.
