They looked at each other for a few more seconds, both their brains having short-circuited then...

"I’m sorry"

Bang!

Muku apologized, slammed the door shut, turned around and left. The girl I’m the bathroom didn’t say a word from start to finish, likely too shocked to speak or even scream.

Around 40 minutes later....

Everyone but one girl was back in the lounge. Muku just sat there lost in thought, likely thinking about what he had seen. Audrey who finally managed to regain some strength after a while was also there, also stuck in thought, sitting a bit away from the others. Jade who was subtly glaring at Muku from time to time and her face reddening each time, was also present, her nose twitching a bit when she looked in Audrey’s direction sneakily. Chloe, Layla and Hope who were confused by the actions of the other three were also there, nobody saying anything.

"It’s been so long, when will Emily finish bathing, I’m supposed to go next after all". Hope complained.

That’s right, the girl Muku walked in on was Emily who was completely naked about to take a bath. And he saw everything, even noticed how much bigger her chest was compared to Chloe. The same Emily who finished bathing a long time ago but lacked the courage to leave the bathroom.

"Why don’t you go check what’s keeping her then". Chloe replied.

"You’re right, I wonder why I didn’t think of that!". With that reply Hope got up and sped off.

"Is it just me or does she seem to have become dumber compared to the time we met?". Layla couldn’t help but ask as she looked at the door Hope left out of.

"Maybe she has the same disease as Jade of not bothering to think too much when she feels she can afford not too?". Muku who had finally escaped his thoughts spoke.

He had been thinking if it was a curse or blessing that in one way or the other he finds himself seeing more parts of his students that he should ever since the apocalypse began. All began with Jade’s first transformation...well he wasn’t particularly complaining. But how was he supposed to face Emily now? Should he play it off like he did with Chloe?.

"Hey!". Jade protested to his statement instinctually but after thinking about it a bit, she realised that he was speaking the truth and so didn’t say anymore.

"Maybe..oh and, what were you and my mom doing back there again?...if you don’t mind telling us". Layla spoke, from the way she spoke, it seemed like she had just been trying to find a way to ask her question. Hearing her question, Jade and Chloe’s ears twitched a bit also wanting to know but pretended like they didn’t, which didn’t fool anyone.... Especially with Jade starting to randomly do pushups after the question was asked. I’m her mind it was a way to show that she really wasn’t interested in the conversation, by acting natural.

The others who easily figured out what this dumb idiot by choice was thinking couldn’t help but roll their eyes or slap their own heads in exasperation. Couldn’t she do something that was even a little less obvious, like pretending to meditate or something like that.After looking at her for a few seconds they chose to ignore her. Who knew if her condition was contagious if you looked too long?.

Muku then looked at Audrey without replying to Layla, quietly asking for her opinion. It was her issue after all. Audrey looked back at him for a few seconds before sighing inwardly then nodded at Muku, signalling him to tell the girls. She only wanted to keep it secret because she thought it might turn out to be a big problem, not being able to sense her own mana and didn’t want to worry the girls. But luckily for her, it wasn’t, though quite frankly the major reason she wanted to keep it secret was because she felt embarrassed by being such a failure of a mother and adult when the girls look at her with so much respect.

"It was nothing major, your mother just needed some help with learning how to use her abilities. And her she couldn’t sense her mana anymore, which apparently had gone dormant". With Audrey’s approval, he answered Layla quite nonchalantly.

"Oh, so that’s what she meant by "I need it". Chloe spoke under her breath.

"What was that?". Muku asked her.

"O...oh, nothing, nothing at all don’t miind me!". She replied with panic in her voice, hoping he didn’t hear her otherwise she might go through what Jade did. She definitely didn’t want that, all of them could see how Jade was having trouble sitting and would wince a bit everytime she moved. Seeing Muku look at her with suspicion made her even more nervous, but seeing him look away after a bit she internally sighed in relief and cursed her loose mouth.

Jade was looking on couldn’t help but be disappointed seeing him not pursue it. She knew what Chloe didn’t after all, everyone in the room clearly heard her. Muku, Audrey and Jade herself had enhanced hearing while Layla was sitting close enough to Chloe so there’s no way anyone didn’t hear it. But unlike her, it seems Chloe was more lucky. Remembering how she and the other two ditched her before she felt even more disappointed and switched her glares from Muku to Layla and Chloe. Audrey didn’t say anything but her cheeks were now vaguely pink if anyone paid close attention.

"Oh...what!". Layla kind of expected the former part of his statement but hearing the latter, she couldn’t help but exclaim in shock. Even Chloe and Jade showed looks of surprise. They didn’t know that a person’s mana could go dormant. And the idiot Jade forgot that she was supposed to be doing pushups as she now came and sat beside Layla again looking at Muku with a look that said "hurry up and explain already!".

Muku rolled his eyes at her but still proceeded to explain what had happened since Audrey had already given her approval for him to tell them. When he was still not that deep into the conversation, Emily came into the room and sat as far away from Muku as she could. He, seeing her, paused a bit, but as the king of poker faces and playing the situation down as he was, he managed to keep on going without his expression changing.

"So you’re saying that if a person rejects their powers, it will lead to the powers rejecting them?. And there’s a possibility that it will lead to a stronger backlash than just not being able to use them after a while since our evolved bodies seem to need to be constantly nourished by our mana?". Layla asked for confirmation, she was really worried for her mother. So much so that she had basically been asking questions every two seconds as Muku explained. This of course made the explanation take more time to finish, but nobody stopped her, they all knew she was only worried about her mother after.

At this point, Hope came back looking refreshed, appearing to have also taken a bath. Before anyone else could go, Audrey ran out of the room saying she’ll bath next. While the group thought that she was likely just embarrassed to be in the room as her problem was discussed, she herself knew that wasn’t the case at all. She just couldn’t wait to wash herself and get rid of a certain smell on her body as well as the slightly damp dress. Though Jade looked at her with a suspicious look for a while before shrugging it off, it really had nothing to do with her after. So there was no need to confirm it or tell the others, she herself was also slightly da...never mind.

"Don’t worry, I fixed the mana issue so she’ll at least be fine in that regard." Muku assured Layla who was looking at the door Audrey left out of with worry in her eyes.

"Really?". Layla asked, though she already knew the answer, she couldn’t help but still ask.

"Yes, I promise, the only thing that’s left now is for us to help her with how to activate her abilities as well as properly use them". Muku spoke.

"Okay, so how are we going to do that?" Layla asked, wanting to know everything.

"Tomorrow we go hunting, with Jade up andy current abilities, we should be able to stay clear from the monster I sensed. And after she learns how to properly use her abilities, I’ll take you all to the other strong aura I sensed which isn’t as absurd as the minster’s.

"Umm, what do you mean by new strength?" Jade asked, she was unconscious when Muku ranked up so didn’t know yet. He has been completely covering up his aura with his telekinesis so she couldn’t sense it, that’s just how the monster scared him. He dared not let his aura even leak.

"Oh that, here...". Muku didn’t explain but only just expanded his aura suppression field and covered the whole room, letting his aura out a bit. Within the compressed area it became so condensed and intense that the girls slightly found it hard to breathe. Noticing it, Muku reduced the field again. Of course, he won’t always control it like this, just that he was still relatively new to it so couldn’t properly control it yet, let alone retract it, so could only suppress it with his telekinesis.

"Woooah, when did this happened!? No wonder I couldn’t even react before and you caught me so easily. I mean, I couldn’t react even before the rank up, but still, it felt worse today, like I was a powerless little girl under a middle aged uncle’s grasp." Jade spoke up, the last part making Muku’s lip twitch and the other girls giggle.

"Do you want a second round already?". Muku glared at her as he spoke.

"No please!, I’m sorry, my mistake, I’ll never do it again". Jade immediately shrinked back in fear and apologised. Internally cursing her mouth for being as loose as Chloe’s. She shouldn’t be so daring with her track record of being the only one who got beaten up for talking too much.

The others looked at her with amusement wondering just what Jade went through to become so meek. At the same time they couldn’t help but feel a little scared at what could make Jade like that and how they were close to facing it as well.

"That reminds me, Jade, how much potential did you realize?". Hope asked out of nowhere. She couldn’t understand what they were talking about when she came since she wasn’t around when the topic began. So was just waiting for the topic to change then ask later.

"Oh that...80%". Jade said with a smug smile on her face.

"What!?" Everyone in the room screamed out in shock at her words, Muku included.
