Raising Ducks for Daily Rewards-Chapter 82: Totem Ritual
The opportune time had come, everything was ready.
Taking a humble and reverent position, Fengyu looked at the bowl and the sense of nature hidden within...
"Seoi Zi Ling!" he started chanting, his words awkward, yet a feeling of being listened to rose.
"Loi zo ngop!" He suddenly saw a gleam of light rising from the bottom of the water bowl, light raising the water above the bowl.
"Jap ci tou tang!" The water suddenly gushed over the bowl, flowing over the whole totem, seemingly an endless water coming out of the bowl.
"Zuk fuk ngo dang!" With a last chant, the totem seemed to be drenched with the light water.
Splash
The water rose once more, taking the form of a small humanoid body above the bowl, difficult to discern.
"Seoi zoi sung baai ngo?" An ethereal voice sounded as the words were conveyed.
Fengyu knew not their meaning, but he felt a sense of understanding.
Looking over to his ducks, he nodded.
"Quack quack quack quack!" – Seoi ling zuk fuk ngo dang, Zimu tried to hold its meaning in high regard as it said everything.
"Quack quack quack quack!" Silver Feather followed, his quacks coming with difficulty.
"Quack quack quack quack!" Wind Claw, Soft Breeze and Spring Rain also followed.
The humanoid body raised its hand, pointing at the ducks as it said "Nei zoeng wui dak dou zuk fuk!"
A blue stream of water rose from the bowl, seemingly looking for the worshipped –
Just then, Fengyu stepped forward and dropped singular drops of blood, one of each of the ducks, into the bowl.
Instantly, the stream of water absorbed them and transformed them into crystals, storing them in the core of the bowl.
The stream of water seemed to have found a direction and flew towards each duck, pressing on their body before moving to the next.
Finally, it returned to the bowl and fell into it calmly.
The humanoid figure slowly melted on the totem, the water seeping into the cracks.
When it disappeared fully, the fish at the front of the totem seemed to gleam with a blue light for a moment before it calmed down.
Yet looking at it, Fengyu could swear he saw a resemblance of a spirit in its eyes.
He stood there for a long time, not knowing whether the ritual was done properly.
Turning around to his ducks, he saw that they all had a water drop-like symbol on their crown, a symbol of the blessing...
"You five, do you feel like your spiritual power is flowing better?"
"Quack, it... feels a bit weird. Like the spiritual power in the air is easier to absorb."
"Hmm?" Fengyu nodded and looked at the others.
"Quack, quack, quack!"
"Quack, quack."
"Quack? Quack."
"Quack!"
The other ducks agreed with this description and added their own details.
"Making absorption of spiritual power easier... where does it make it easier?
Does it enhance the absorption in general? Improve the talent? Filter out useless elements, making the useful elements in the spiritual power more prominent? Enlarge the absorbing power? Does the totem transfer its own spiritual power when a duck absorbs?"
Fengyu asked question after question, looking more and more curiously at the totem.
The Immortal Dao was clear and rather simple-minded. A thing was like that because you commanded it to be exactly like that.
But here...
Witchcraft followed nature –
Nature would achieve its goals any way possible.
The process wasn’t important, only the goal was.
As far as he saw, he couldn’t really deny any of these guesses.
He was curious and wanted to see what else nature could do, but when he looked at the rather empty jade slip and the totem in front of him, he realised that he didn’t really have the ability to inspect it.
Sighing, he knew this was another thing he would have to add to his to-do list for later.
"What about your bloodline? Is it showing any signs of improvement?"
"Quack!" Silver Feather jumped up right away, "Quack, quack, quack! Quack!"
"You’re sure you’re feeling something? How could it be possible?"
Fengyu looked in surprise and asked Silver Feather several questions, until he finally got a guess on how the bloodline was improved.
Looking at the other ducks, he knew this wasn’t something they could feel in a short time.
"Let’s talk about this again in a month’s time. If you feel anything, tell me right away."
The other ducks nodded and went back to their own things.
...
Another month quickly passed by and Fengyu had a better understanding of the totem.
First of all, while it was right that the effect was technically without a range, its effectiveness was the best right around the totem. The whole villa enjoyed this effect.
The secondary effect would be in a rather large radius, crossing many acres.
Only when Fengyu took his ducks far away from his field did he finally see the tertiary effect, which was still pretty good.
The primary effect boosted spiritual power absorption by 10% and bloodline enhancement by 1%, secondary effect is at 5% and 0.5%, and tertiary effect is at 1% and 0.1%.
"I don’t know whether there is an effect beyond the tertiary range, but my guess is that the tertiary is already the lowest. Going any lower seems to go against the saying that it has an endlessly long range.
And I’ve finally been able to pinpoint the bloodline enhancement properly –
It doesn’t enhance or dig out the bloodline of each beast, but makes the current bloodline churn slightly.
This churning allows for more movement and enhances everything else related to bloodline enhancements.
Individually, the churning is barely useful, which is why even the best effect is only at 1%.
But using it in combination with the Bloodline Enhancement Spell I was able to see that the effect rose to 3%.
Based on that, I can guess that all bloodline related spells will have a better effect.
These 3% might not be much, but they can be the difference between mid and high grade bloodline..."
