Raising Ducks for Daily Rewards-Chapter 84: Duck Image
Just as Fengyu was engrossed in the spell, he suddenly felt something rise in front of him.
It was the image that had started showing its first visual signs after Wind Claw was born.
At that time he thought it was the work of the panel, which is why he didn’t pay any attention to it after being unable to make sense of it, and also because it had the vague outline of a duck.
Later the image of the wound started appearing in front of him, creating a drastic contrast between the two.
"When the image of the wound appeared, my whole mind was focused on finding an answer to what I should do.
Should I take the easy path and simply heal three species as the image told me?
Or should I follow my natural instinct and instead wait.
But... wait for what?
To find the cause of this?
This peripheral village doesn’t have any information about it, so I only thought of looking for it when I arrived in the city.
Later, when Soft Breeze was born, I remembered the image of the duck and thought it had a deeper meaning... unfortunately, it only appeared when a duck entered the path of Spiritual Beast Cultivation.
And now, Fire Breath has been born, and I once again see it..."
The image in front of Fengyu was the exact image of his five ducks, rotating in a cycle he had been extremely familiar with –
Silver Feather – Silver is the Yin form of the Metal Element derived from Earth. In the cycle, it represents Earth.
Wind Claw – the truest form of Wind, the element of movement, followed right after Earth.
Spring Rain – Rain, Clouds and Snow, the three most common manifestations of the Water element, following the movement of the wind, rain falls and becomes rivers and lakes.
Soft Breath – at its core, Wood is a representative of vitality, second only to Life. Now, vitality takes the place of Wood in the cycle.
And finally....
Fire Breath – when the wood burns and gives rise to fire, it becomes an everlasting flame.
The five elements completed in the form of ducks!"
Fengyu looked at the insane and coincidental appearance of it all.
Or... was it fate?
"Silver Feather, Wind Claw and Spring Rain were all natural reversions of bloodline, something any Spiritual Herder can achieve. That’s why when they were born, the image was rather faint, making me ignore it for most of the part.
Soft Breath was the first result of my experimentation, an experiment I have tried for many years, interrupted and paused, until I finally succeeded.
Fire Breath is the second manifestation of my experimentation, a whole different approach. Instead of looking from the inside, I took from the outside.
These two represent my ingenious spirit of creation.
Is this why I have directly reached the ’completion’ that the image is trying to convey me?"
This time, the premonition that everything was done and that he only had to accept the image into his body was even stronger.
He felt as if the whole world was trying to convince him that everything he had done until now was exactly what he wanted to achieve, and that now, he was right in front of it.
Comparing the recovery image to the duck image, he understood the difference between them.
"For the image of recovery, I still need to complete the act of healing three species – Fur Beasts, Feather Beasts and Humans.
Meanwhile, I have already completed the five elements cycle with my ducks, which is why it’s telling me to accept it right away.
But... should I really do it?
The same way I feel like the foundation of healing shouldn’t be the ability to heal three species, I also feel like ducks shouldn’t originate from the five elements.
In the great world, there are countless daos.
The Dao of Taoism perceives the five elements differently – instead of seeing the five elements as the foundation of the world, it focuses on the five elements in a person’s body.
Buddhists don’t really care about the five elements, Human Dao Officials don’t care a lot about them either.
So, the five elements can be important but since they’re not present in every Dao, can they really be the most important, the foundation of my own Dao?"
The more Fengyu thought about it, the more he felt like it made no sense.
His Dao is the Dao of Ducks... but when he questioned himself whether the foundation should be ’breeding,’ he realised that it was only the first step to herding and not the foundation.
So, what was?
He looked all around, his mind whirring, his fingers twitching, but... he still didn’t realise it.
"Fuck!" he suddenly cursed, "Fuck, fuck, fuck! Fuck!"
A look of annoyance appeared on his face, his eyes full of confusion.
"Where did I go wrong? What should I do? Am I paranoid? Should I just take it?"
He kept asking himself, confused beyond measure.
Ignoring the healing image was easy, for he had to first achieve it.
But the duck image was in front of him –
With a single step forward, he could directly obtain it.
His questions would be answered, the dao manifested, the truth open to his eyes.
If it wasn’t for the ’What if’ in his mind, he wouldn’t have stopped this step at all.
"Quack!"
Just as he was trapped in his reverie of the path, he heard the quacking of a duck.
"Huuuuuuh," Fengyu’s eyes brightened again as he breathed out heavily, looking at the duck next to him.
"Zimu," Fengyu looked with deep gratitude before turning away.
A look of fear grew on his face for just a moment before he suppressed it.
Turning back, he smiled "Thank you all for being here together with me!
Why don’t you all show Fire Breath our field and assign him the task to... to burn the weeds!"
Fengyu smiled brighter when he thought of a task, then sent them away quickly and walked back into his hut...
