Rather Than The Son, I’ll Take The Father-Chapter 127
Watching Eleonora’s eyes, the wolf gently covered Maevia with its tail. The big eyes of the wolf stared at Eleonora.
It seemed it wasn’t going to turn away from Maevia.
“Kiing…….”
Eleonora, who understood the wolf’s meaning, murmured dolefully.
“Stop staring at me, you bastard. I will treat her.”
The wolf dropped its ears.
Eleonora was sincere. Although he was very upset and anxious at the thought that Maevia might break the taboo, she was the chosen one from his Former Master.
The first and last.
Besides, she looked like she couldn’t last even a single day if he didn’t take care of her by her side.
‘There must have been a reason.’
Eleonora was half resigned.
‘I hoped that the Former Master had chosen the Lord’s wife.’
As the wolf buried Marvia with its fur, Eleonora watched the movement of Cyclamen Castle.
It was noisy as he had sent many of his spiders to comply with Maevia’s request to convey her news. It wasn’t a contact point that humans use universally, but it was good enough.
The castle was turned upside down due to the spiders’ sudden attack, and then fell into confusion when the spiders assembled into letters.
Either way, the spiders faithfully conveyed Maevia’s whereabouts, and soon there was an opinion among the people that someone should follow the spiders.
There were many applicants who wanted to follow the spider. However, King Paimon, who was wary and Monica, who had been brainwashed, were sent out of the room and excluded from the list from the beginning.
The knights thought this was their chance to play an active part and argued fiercely. They showed off their abilities by scraping up even the smallest achievements, but it wasn’t long before they had no choice but to keep their mouths shut.
The one who won the victory was a half-man/half-beast named Shaula, who swung her fists, saying that it was a waste of time to talk.
Eleonora was trying to overhear the conversation through the spiders, and was trying to tell them not to come, but when he discovered Shaula’s identity, he stopped. Instead, he closed his eyes, after telling the spiders to bring Maevia’s clothes.
It was dawn when Shaula came. She broke in, relentlessly breaking the web that Eleonora had spread near his house.
“Your Grace! I’m here! Your Grace’s escort knight!”
Eleonora got twisted at her reckless intrusion, when she didn’t even knock once.
“Are you going to be quiet? Your voice is as loud as your size.”
Shaula laid the luggage down and said while contemplating whether or not to wield her greatsword.
“Are you the one who wrote with the spiders?”
“Then you are the intruder who cut off all my security webs.”
“Web? I haven’t seen anything like that.”
Eleonora looked sadly at the clumps of cobwebs hanging loose at Shaula’s feet.
“Isn’t it inconvenient to live in the world if you are so dull?”
Shaula strode in, ignoring Eleonora’s quarrel.
Shaula’s gaze fell upon Maevia, who slept as if dead.
Her bloodless face was as beautiful as the stars in the night sky, and life seemed to disappear when the sun rose.
Shaula listened to the eerily shallow breathing sounds.
“What is Her Grace’s state?”
“She is dying.”
“…….”
Shaula carefully ruffled her pinkish hair and checked her wounds.
Eleonora looked at Shaula with a slightly different perspective than before.
“Don’t be offended. It’s the first time I’ve seen someone like you try to protect another.”
Shaula shrugged carelessly, even as her own identity was discovered.
“That’s because Her Grace is special. She’s very funny.”
Soon, Shaula held Maevia in one arm.
Then, when Maevia began to sag helplessly, she used her other arm to support her in haste.
“Our Grace is a precious body, where is the bed?”
“Probably over there.”
Eleonora pointed to the corner of the room.
Shaula did not forget the luggage that Sarah’s tear-soaked hands had packed and moved.
By the time she left Maevia and went out alone, the sun was already rising.
“I think I changed her dress inside out. Well, even Her Grace doesn’t expect anything from me, so it’ll be fine.”
Shaula had moderately compromised with reality and finally faced Eleonora.
Reacting to the murderous energy that was pouring out before her words, Eleonora unwittingly exclaimed.
“I am innocent!”
“Let’s talk right now, alright? Of course, let’s go out.”
“Listen to me first!”
“After you take a hit.”
“My conscience almost got stabbed for a minute or two. There’s a reason! This dog has already said enough for me!”
Shaula unconcernedly released his hand.
A few nights passed after Shaula arrived.
The few days spent with Shaula were hellish for Eleonora.
Surprisingly, during this time, Shaula did not eat or sleep. If Maevia had seen it, she would have found it deceitful.
Shaula just made sure Maevia was sleeping well, and only tormented Eleonora. Shaula sighed as she was convinced that Maevia was poisoned and needed long-term treatment.
“What should we do because Our Grace is so weak? If I drink only water, I will only be alive for a month.”
Had Maevia heard the story she would have ground her teeth at the thought of Shaula’s food expenses as she went out.
Half of the ten days that Eleonora said was the minimal duration of treatment had passed, with Maevia barely waking up.
Another uninvited visitor arrived that day.
Eleonora, who had been fine, suddenly stood up, his complexion hardened, and Shaula raised her sword.
“Is that a bad thing?”
“Yes. But even you will have a hard time dealing with it.”
“Then I’ll welcom…… I can’t do it right now.”
Shaula glanced around the bedroom where Maevia was.
“I will go, so please take care of Master.”
Eleonora already knew who the intruder was.
The man approached and deliberately, gently touched his web.
Kadan Tine.
Knowing that his Former Master had died and that Maevia might take that place, he wouldn’t stand still.
Fortunately, Kadan didn’t even notice that Maevia was here, and he greeted Eleonora with his usual docile face.
“You’re quite kind today? You picked me up.”
“…….”
He was relaxed. Loose, without any tension.
“But what about your Master?”
Still, Eleonora felt fear.
“You won’t be able to see him even if you come back a thousand more times.”
“It’s really too much. It’s not even a clone, I came to see him like this.”
Kadan raised the corners of his mouth, as if he had already seen that Eleonora was afraid, unbothered by him.
“Did something happen to your Master? Can I help him?”
“Even if you look, nothing will happen.”
“That’s not fun.”
Kadan grumbled lightly. But, contrary to his grumbling tone, he sneered as if he could see inside Eleonora’s face even though he was covering it tightly.
Eleonora, feeling an instinctive rejection of that attitude, turned to something Kadan was carrying.
“Ah, this? You want to know what it is? It’s actually a gift from me.”
“I don’t need it. Go back.”
“You don’t need it?”
“…….”
“It’s a joke, it’s a joke. I’m sad. I’ll be back tomorrow. Will you welcome me? I’m so weak, my heart hurts~”
Kadan waved his hand and turned around.
Through the dense cobwebs, he confirmed that Kadan exited out the gate.
Eleonora finally sighed and returned to his home where Maevia was.
As Shaula saw Eleonora trudging inside, she changed her posture.
“It’s okay. It wasn’t a big deal. After all, it’s about the Master, so he’s pretty docile.”
“Look behind you, idiot.”
“What…….”
When Eleonora gave a bewildered reaction.
“I was annoyed and followed him to just kill him, but this is a rather unexpected harvest.”
Eleonora stiffened.
He hadn’t felt his presence at all. Even now, even though he was right behind him, Eleonora couldn’t detect Kadan.
Kadan whistled and pointed to a room.
“Why is our Sister-in-law here? Who can explain it to me?”
“Run away! Right now!”
“Tsk, tsk, what is this? Little one, I don’t want to see you anymore.”
Kadan grabbed Eleonora’s neck as if dealing with a child and smiled as he looked at Shaula.
“You seem to be at least more difficult than him. You know, I need to save my magic power and you have to save your master, so how about negotiating?”
12. My Husband Loves Me So Much
My body felt wrinkled. As I raised my eyelids, I saw an achromatic ceiling.
How long have I slept?
I did not know, but my stamina had not yet recovered. Just lifting my upper body exhausted me.
I took a deep breath and found someone who had been by my side the whole time.
Jet black hair, blue eyes. It was such a beautiful face that it hurt my heart.
“…… Aedis?”
As I called out in a muffled voice, my eyelids creased gently.
“When did you come?”
I was so happy that a bright smile spread across my lips, but there was no reply right away.
However, Aedis expressed it through action. Aedis’ hand touched my cheek.
“A long time ago.”
I put my hands on Aedis’ hand and tilted my head.
“Why are your hands so cold?”
Aedis said something else.
“You called my name. Very naturally.”
Yes?
“Is there a problem?”
“No, I’m glad.”
“…….”
Why are you talking in that tone? Are you mad?
Aedis noticed my curiosity and corrected his words.
“I’m glad.”
“Are you worried that I might have been brainwashed too?”
Aedis paused, then smiled seductively.
“Yes. I was very worried.”
