Re-Awakening: Evolving My Shadow Limitlessly With A System-Chapter 8: Apprentice Alchemist, First Perk
Chapter 8: Apprentice Alchemist, First Perk
A soft hum echoed in my ears as the screen appeared.
...
Name: @!$!@#$@
Rank: 0
...
Species: Human [Rank 1]
...
Stats:
Strength: 2
Dexterity: 1 → 4
Endurance: 0
Intelligence: 99 → 101
Spirit: 4
...
Class: Shadow (Click to check class details), Alchemist (Click to check class details)
...
The jump in Dexterity was quite noticeable. It increased by 300%.
More than that, the Intelligence stat climbing past the 100 mark made me feel sharper.
It was as though certain thoughts sorted themselves before I even focused on them.
Still, stats were just numbers unless used right. I tapped again, this time on the [Alchemist] class.
Another window appeared.
...
Class: Alchemist
Rank 0
Grade: Apprentice Alchemist
First Perk: Improved Ingredient Comprehension
Perk Information: You find it easier to learn and implement knowledge about basic alchemy ingredients.
...
There was no active skill attached to the class, which wasn’t surprising.
Normal classes didn’t come with skills at the start.
Shadow Class had a skill since it was different, and special.
It was an inherited Class, and one of the thirteen treasures of the Supreme God.
There were three types of classes.
Normal Classes.
Evolved Classes.
Inherited Classes.
Normal Classes could be obtained when you met a basic requirement.
For Alchemist, that requirement had been completing a Rank 0 alchemy process.
That toy crown I’d dismantled earlier was more than enough for it.
If I wanted to raise the class’ grade, I’d have to perform higher-tier alchemical processes. Which would need better materials, materials I didn’t have access to right now.
People outside the System could still be Alchemists.
Anyone with knowledge and practice could brew potions or refine metals.
But those people didn’t get stat increases or perks. Which meant they were weaker than a System-recognized Alchemist.
Every normal class started at Rank 0.
Despite being called Normal Class, they were very important.
They could be evolved into Rare or Hidden Classes after they were mastered.
It was why many people focused on getting Normal Classes and completing achievements.
’I’m an Apprentice Alchemist.’
Each Class had a different progression sequence.
For Alchemists, it was called grades. Grades followed a clear sequence.
Apprentice Alchemist.
Journeyman Alchemist.
Formulation Alchemist.
Combat Alchemist.
Artisan Alchemist.
Each grade gave a new perk, and extra stats.
And once I reached Artisan Alchemist grade, and fully mastered it, the Alchemist class could evolve.
That brought me to the second type of Classes: Evolved Classes.
These were upgrades of normal classes.
They required one to master normal classes first.
There were three types of Evolved Classes:
Normal Evolved Class
Rare Evolved Class
Hidden Evolved Class
Normal Evolved Classes were what you’d expect. They would be like Senior Alchemist, or Swordmaster.
They were quite powerful compared to Normal Classes.
Unlocking them was easy. You only needed to master a Normal Class, and meet a few special requirements.
Rare Evolved Classes offered unique perks and skill trees. Swordspell (created by combining Swordsman, and Mage), and Astral Alchemist were a few examples.
Hidden Evolved Classes were... well, most people didn’t even know those existed.
I did.
These classes were at pinnacle of Evolved Classes. The method to acquire them were rarely known.
Having even one Hidden Evolved Class was enough to put you into elite category of people.
Lastly, Inherited Classes.
They were the rarest type of Classes.
These Classes were passed down from one person to another, usually through bloodlines or rituals.
The Shadow class was one of these.
All Inherited Classes started from Rank 0, like Normal Classes. Only Evolved Classes were an exception.
’Now that I have a bit of mana, I just need a bit more to become a 0-Star Mage.’
The Mage Class was unlike Alchemy class that had 5 sub-grades.
Mage Class had ten sub-grades, ranging from 0-Star to 9-Star.
Each level was a major leap in power.
But to begin the path, one needed to accumulate enough mana to create a Mana Core (0-star Mage) and then create their first Star (1-star Mage).
’I also need to decide what element I’ll align with.’
That wasn’t something I could take lightly.
Each Mage could only choose one element at the start.
Until their class evolved, they would be bound to it and be able to use only spells related to that single element.
After evolving the Class, more options would open up.
But until then, it was a permanent choice.
’Last time, I was forced to align with Earth element.’
The memory brought a bitter taste to my thoughts. It wasn’t the worst element, but it hadn’t suited me.
This time, I had the freedom to choose. That alone lifted my mood.
There were so many elements to pick from—Water, Air, Astra, Spirit, Weapon, Light, Fire, Lightning, Space.
There were hundreds of elements.
Some were common. Some were rare. Others were so obscure they’d only ever been used by one or two people in history.
’I should take my time to make a choice.’
It was an important decision.
’For now, though... I should focus on gathering more gold.’
’I can’t become a Mage if I don’t have enough gold.’
Seris and Elira’s visited regularly.
Thanks to them, I start to build a decent stockpile. Seris kept bringing gold-colored toys.
She didn’t know why I liked them so much, but she was smart enough to notice my like.
She kept gifting me those toys to make me play with her.
It helped me a lot.
Time passed like that.
And before I knew it, my first birthday had arrived.
...
Strength: 2 → 3
Dexterity: 4 → 5
Endurance: 0 → 1
Shadow Summon: Level 2 → Level 3
My efforts were paying off.
I had finally gained 1 stat point in Endurance.
Physically, I was progressing at a pace that surprised even me.
An average adult human had stats around ten. For a one-year-old, my numbers were pretty high.
But one stat remained frustratingly low.
’Spirit. Still stuck at 4.’
It was difficult to train. No, not just difficult. It was almost impossible at this stage.
Spirit wasn’t something I could improve easily.
Without the Mage class, my options were limited.
And because of low Spirit stat, my Shadow Summon skill wasn’t leveling up as quickly as it could’ve. It had reached level 3, which was still great for my age.
But it wasn’t enough.
’I just need to do was pass today.’
’Then I can become a Mage and solve my problems.’
Today was important. freewebnøvel_com
It was my birthday.
A proper celebration was planned.
Lots of guests were invited. Family, friends, and people from mother’s and father’s sides. Seris and her mother were invited, of course.
And I had a feeling their gift would involve gold, especially since they already knew how much I liked it.
Between that and my stored toys, I might be able to hit 0-Star Mage tonight. Maybe even 1-Star.
I was sitting on the couch, resting in my mother’s lap, when she gently pressed her cheek to mine.
"Today’s the day," she whispered, smiling. "My baby turns one."
Her voice was warm. The kind that wrapped around you.
I turned my head slightly and looked across the hall.
My father was busy adjusting the decorations. He looked focused, crouched in front of a banner that didn’t seem to want to stay up.
