Re-awakening: From mortal to godhood-Chapter 29: IMPERIAL SPY
Levi sat calmly in his parlour. He had changed into new clothes and even eaten before he stepped out.
In his hand was the chip Henry had good ven him earlier. His mind was baffled with one question as he thought of the instruction Henry gave. "How do I slot the chip in when there is no visible slot?" He muttered, his voice barely above a breath.
’Max, how do I put this chip in?’ He asked Max in his mind.
[Master Levi, put the chip on the band’s surface,] Max replied.
Levi furrowed his brows, but he complied. He placed the chip on the band calmly and waited for whatever was to come.
A blinding light flashed from the band, engulfing Levi in a burst of white.
From the light, a hologram was projected in front of Levi. He stared at the hologram, expecting a reaction from it.
[Welcome, new Imperial Spy,] the man in the hologram began. His face was wide, with a large scar dividing it in half. Behind him was a broad sword with depictions of trees and animals.
[I will guide you on how to use the basic functions of the Imperial Interface.]
Immediately, the hologram shifted, transforming into a screen that showed various tabs.
[Introduction]
[Missions]
[Shop]
[Chat]
Those were the tabs displayed on the sleek, blue interface that floated in Levi’s eyes.
[The first one will show you the rules and benefits of being an imperial spy. It can be revised as many times as you want.]
As he spoke, the screen zoomed in on the introduction tab, which was further divided into 3 sections.
[Next, is the mission tab. It is where you accept a mission based on your spy rank. Missions are issued by the higher-ups of Zenithra, and sometimes, the super clans from the Astra Plane.]
The tab expanded, showing the missions available to Levi. Most of them were small missions like infiltrating a small village or attending a gathering of the Eclipsed Order undercover.
But even though they were low-ranked, their difficulty was way above what an ordinary person could face.
"Even level 1 missions are this difficult," Levi chuckled.
[The shop offers a variety of items, with chances to find extremely rare ones. Items are traded using points only.]
The shop was open too, showing exotic weapons, ranging from normal to extremely valuable.
[Dream stone sabre: 20 million points]
Levi glanced at the purple, pristine sabre, his eyes glowing. But looking at the cost, all thoughts of it died.
[The chat function is used to talk with other spies. You can share experiences and tips as long as you don’t reveal your true identities.]
The chat opened, revealing the smart user interface that mirrored something from his past life. ’It looks so much like the Discord app on earth,’ he thought.
[Finally, you have to create a codename.]
Levi grinned as he heard the word ’Codename.’
In his last life, one of the ways he relieved himself was by believing he was a legendary assassin who had a codename. It was also one of the reasons he liked to use a mask whenever he fought.
"Zero," he said to the voice, his tone confident.
[The name is no longer available,] the voice replied with a cold and apathetic voice.
Levi’s smile faltered. "Who the hell stole my codename?" He yelled, his voice reverberating through the room.
If it weren’t for the room being soundproof, the scream would have spread across the mansion and beyond.
"What about Nexus?" He asked again.
[Taken.]
"Shadow?"
[Taken]
"Line?"
[Do you want to set Line as your codename?]
"Hell no. They took all the good names and left dumb ones," Levi screamed again.
Levi held his chin seriously this time as he thought of names he had used while he was still on earth.
"Reaper?"
[Taken]
"Quantum?"
[Do you want to set Quantum as your codename?]
"Yes," Levi replied without hesitation. "Finally, a name that has not been stolen by the ones who came before."
[Quantum has been successfully registered as an Imperial Spy.]
With its last words, the voice faded without bidding Levi farewell.
Levi started on for a moment before finally calming. "Truth be told, all those yelling were really refreshing," he said with an amused smile.
He had never had the privilege of shouting in his past life. Being born with Esophageal cancer, even speaking too loudly could lead to his death.
"I wonder if cases similar to Cancer exist in this world," Levi thought.
Then Levi turned his gaze back to the interface. ’’Introduction."
The introduction tab widened, revealing 3 sections under it.
[Rules]
[Benefits]
[Rank]
With a thought, the rules section opened.
[As an Imperial Spy, you place your life above any mission, unless it’s of high importance
Identities are meant to be kept personal; even your teammate is not allowed to know your identity.
All missions are to be done with your teammate
The existence of the imperial spies is to be kept secret
]
’The rules are not that many,’ he thought as he read through them.
The benefits tab opened next.
[Depending on your spy rank, you get at least 30 thousand points per mission, aside from the normal mission payment.
Access to special cultivation spaces all around the world
Higher chance of being recruited into the Astra Plane after graduation
Unlimited class skips
Direct mentoring from tier 9 teachers
A special mask that disguises the wearer’s face. ]
Levi looked at them before releasing a sigh. "I don’t need any of these; they would have been useful if I didn’t have the system, though. Well, the unlimited class skips are still good, more time to train in the endless dimension."
He checked his rank, and as expected, it was rank 1.
"The principal said he had a mission for me, how do I check it?’ he muttered, rechecking the chat function.
Before he could even check anything, a sudden notification caught his eye.
[You have a direct message from the overseer.]
[Mission: There’s a rumour about an Eclipsed Order base in Thalen, a small village in the elven domain. Investigate the place. Set out tomorrow, you and your teammate will meet at the academy’s cafe.]
Reward: 100 thousand points to be shared between you and your teammate]
Levi read the mission, a furrow appearing in his brows. "Outright sending me to another domain for my first mission and not giving us time to prepare."
