Re-awakening: From mortal to godhood-Chapter 32: Exploring
"Which Domain is your mission located in?" The woman asked calmly, looking away from her monitor again.
"Elven domain," Levi replied smugly, still annoyed with the fact that Ruby had collected the orb from him.
She picked one of the many plaques on her table and handed it to Levi specifically. "It will take you to the outskirts of the elven domain. Also, remember the place you appear since if you want to come back here, you must be within 200 meters of that area," she explained calmly.
Levi collected the plaque from her.
"Thank you," they both said.
Levi channelled mana into it slowly, then they vanished in a streak of golden light.
The woman gazed at the space where they once were, her eyes lingering for a moment before returning to her monitor.
Levi and Ruby opened their eyes in a forest.
The trees stretched infinitely into the sky, blocking the sun.
The floor was filled with grasses of different sizes and colours that screamed beauty.
Levi was captivated by the scenery. ’My first time standing on the soil of Zenithra outside any walls,’ he thought as he stared at the breathtaking sight.
"You are already surprised by the outskirts of the elven domain," Ruby said from the side, giggling at his excitement.
Levi just scoffed.
"It seems you have never truly explored Zenithra, Quantum," Ruby said.
Levi nodded slowly. "Not my fault, I was never allowed."
As they spoke, they began walking into the forest, their steps slow.
"Are you human?" She asked directly, staring straight into Levi’s eyes.
It was common knowledge that human children, especially nobles, did not venture out of their walls until they awakened. Although humans were hailed as one of the top races, their physiques were usually weak without awakening.
"Yes," Levi said. There was nothing to hide there; it was not like she could decipher his true identity just because she knew he was human.
Even if she tried checking with a skill, he could just cover it with Destiny Veil.
"You are in luck, I am really familiar with the elven domain," Ruby grinned.
"We can explore while completing the mission, too," she added. "We will just walk; there is no need for the drifter."
"Alright," Levi nodded slowly in agreement.
They began moving deeper into the forest.
"That’s a moonstag," she pointed at a deer-like animal that shimmered with silver light. Its antlers were curved in half-moon signs, and its hooves lit the floor it stepped on with pink energy.
"It is really beautiful," Levi could not help but comment.
"Yep, it is one of the most beautiful animals on Zenithra. Some nobles even buy them as pets," Ruby said.
He walked closer in an attempt to touch it, but as soon as it sensed his presence, it ran off, leaving trails of energy behind.
Levi stared at the trails, his brow furrowed. ’It was meant to be gentle,’ he thought.
"It does not work that way, moonstags only stay with people that cover themselves in affinities that attune with nature, like wood, star, light, etc," Ruby explained from the side.
"Ohh," Levi said in realisation.
They continued walking, Ruby showing him different things, ranging from exotic plants to beautiful animals.
"How far is the place from here?" Levi asked. He was not tired since he had the infinite core that granted him infinite stamina. He only felt the journey was already getting too long since they set out about 3 hours ago.
"Shush," Ruby quited him. "This is a monster-infested zone," she whispered.
"I know, I felt their presence earlier too, but they are weak," Levi replied, not even bothering you whisper.
Unlike demons, monsters were mindless beings whose only aim was to devour. They had been on Zenithra even before the demons invaded, though they were less troublesome and did not have the same total affinity manipulation as demons and other races had. They had unique skills, some were bizarre, and some were still within the scope of normalcy, but they were dangerous nonetheless. Another thing about them was that monsters were unique across all domains, which meant that the monster in the elven domain was not the same in the other domains.
Levi had read about them in the Chron family archives, so he knew about them.
"Are you trying to get us killed? The monsters in the elven domains are treants, and their strength is not based on their cultivation level; rather, it is based on the number of trees in the surrounding.
Levi’s perception spread like a tide, taking in the number of trees in the area. After a moment, he looked at Ruby again. "How strong will 378 trees make them if they are at the initiate tier?"
"I don’t know, maybe adept stage 9," she said in a panic.
Before they could even gather their thought, a loud shriek exploded from within the forest, shaking the trees wildly.
From the depths of the forest, the ground began to quake as several beings marched out in fury. The birds that were chirping happily began to fly away, not wanting to be caught in the battle that was to come.
"Run," she yelled, already bringing the drifter out of the spatial storage.
They both hopped into the drifter, zooming off into the forest at a speed that broke the sound barrier.
Levi sat beside her while she drove. From the way she even moved, it was obvious she was used to using drifters.
Levi looked back at the place the shriek had come from, a sly grin that escaped Ruby’s observation spreading on his lips.
In the place, Lucan appeared, his gaze calm and controlled as he stared into the forest. The approaching tide did not shake him in the slightest; it was more like the monsters were making the wind a little more chaotic, and nothing more.
Beside him, Aiden stood, his white hair neatly arranged. A smug smile was on his face as he thought of harvesting the souls of all the monsters that were coming.
Levi had exhausted all his spectral warriors when he punished Aeon and Riven. Since then, Levi promised to harvest more souls, but the demons were soulless, so he could not give him any souls.
But now, with the number of monsters coming, he will be able to get enough souls to create a small army of spectral warriors.
"Try to keep up," Lucan said, unsheathing his katana in a flash of silver.
His form streaked forward like an arrow released from its string.
