Re-awakening: From mortal to godhood-Chapter 40: TRANSMIGRATOR
A huge heave was released from Ruby as the last elf fell to the ground, if what remained of them could even be called that.
At that moment, Levi appeared before her, landing calmly as if a higher being beside her.
"It took you long enough," Ruby said, gasping heavily, her hand moving to her brow to wipe the sweat that clung to her skin like a second layer.
"I saw you had everything under control, so I didn’t bother to interfere," Levi replied calmly, his tone gentle.
"That’s how strong I am, so don’t try to mess with me," Ruby said, playfully flexing her muscles.
Levi did not even bother to join in her comedy; he just stared at her, scrutinizing every part of her.
"You are no fun," Ruby said, dropping her playful act.
"I get that a lot," Levi shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal. "Instead of talking about that, there’s something I want to ask." As he said this, his tone got more serious.
"What is it?" Ruby asked, slumping to the floor, tired.
But Levi did not let her land; nanites formed, creating a stable chair beneath her. Her eyes shifted to him in surprise as she felt it.
"What was that system you said during your fight?" He asked directly.
His eyes shifted, a golden crown appearing on his silver pupils.
Ruby’s gaze lifted slightly when she heard him, her eyes locking into his.
Silence stretched between them, neither saying a word.
Then a brisk smile escaped from her lips. "It is a bloodline skill of mine, nothing much," she said, waving it off like it was nothing.
"It might be a bloodline skill, or you might have transmigrated," he said in a low voice, almost as if he was whispering to himself.
But Ruby heard him, her ears picking each word with perfect clarity.
Her eyes snapped towards him sharply. "Are you also from Earth?" She asked, seeing as her cover had been blown.
"Nope, my bloodline skill allows me to gaze briefly at a person’s past, especially if they have a past life," he said, lying without batting an eyelid.
"That’s the reason for the crown that appeared over your iris," Ruby said, pointing at his eyes.
Levi nodded calmly, but his mind was in a disarray.
He had never thought of the chance of other transmigrators being in this world. And even if there were, he thought they would be the holders of the other six primordial bloodlines.
Thinking of the primordial bloodline, the feeling to ask a question arose.
"Your system gave you a primordial tier bloodline, right?"
"The system does not have any other function except activating toggle mode that gives various abilities depending on the mode I choose," she explained. "Also, what is a primordial bloodline? The highest bloodline is divine," she added with furrowed brows.
"Sorry, I was associating something I saw in a game with this one," Levi said, faking a smile as he tapped his head lightly.
Ruby nodded gently before rising again.
"We should check the village before we continue this discussion," she said, her sight shifting towards the crumbled walls.
"Don’t worry about that, I have killed everyone in the village, and my nanites have spread everywhere to search for any clues," Levi said, assuming his calm demeanour again.
’He is too serious,’ she mused. In reality, she was already getting uneasy with the discussion, so she wanted to find a way to stop it.
Just as Levi was about to talk, he caught something. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
His nanites had felt spatial leaks from another plane entirely.
"A crack," he concluded almost instantly. They were the only things that could cause spatial leaks in the overstable space of Zenithra.
"There is a crack hidden in this place," Levi revealed to Ruby, not hiding anything.
Her face shrank. "What do we do?"
"Obviously, we call principal Henry," Levi stated.
He was not going to take any stupid risk just because he was curious about the crack.
His assistant flashed before him, and he accessed the Imperial tab.
He contacted Henry, explaining everything that had happened to him quickly.
[Come back to the academy, we will handle it from here,] Henry said.
"Principal," Levi interjected just as soon as Henry was about to hang up.
[What?] He asked.
"Can I join the expedition?" Levi asked.
Ruby’s ears perked up at this question.
[No,] Henry replied, his tone dripping with coldness.
"I can take care of myself, I don’t need protection," Levi added, trying to prove himself.
A slight smile escaped Henry’s lips at Levi’s word.
[I am not talking about protection here. You don’t have any prior knowledge of cracks, and crack discovery is a world level information. Even I don’t have control over their first exploration. The higher-ups from the Astra Plane are the ones to decide.]
After a brief silence, Levi nodded. He also understood that he could not push some things, especially if they were related to people from the Astra Plane who only cared about their own profits.
[But I will try to get you in another time.]
With that assurance, he hung up.
"You heard him, let’s go back," Levi turned towards Ruby.
She clicked her tongue. "Our mission ended before it could start," she muttered
"You should be happy, we can’t get back early and return everything to that eerie woman at that counter," Levi said, a chill going down his spine as he thought of the receptionist.
"Yeah, that woman is the definition of horror," Ruby joined.
The drifter appeared before them with a wave of her hand. "Why don’t you try learning to drive? We finished too early, and there is like 2 hours before the sun sets fully," Ruby suggested.
"Yeah, teach me," Levi replied, not hiding his intention to learn. Although he could drive a car on earth, drifters were slightly different from cars.
"Also, how were you able to learn if you came from another world?" Levi asked.
"Children from other races are allowed to venture out of their territory, unlike humans."
"So you learnt how to drive while adventuring?" Levi asked as both of them began walking towards the drifter.
"No, I inherited the memory of the previous owner."
"Previous owner?" Levi gazed at her with furrowed brows as they entered the drifter.
