Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 330: Letters, and Yrgon
Chapter 330: Letters, and Yrgon
The distance between Yrgon and Celestara was roughly 1,500 kilometers.
And yet, it only took Rael 10 seconds to arrive.
That was mainly because he might’ve accidentally face-planted into the side of Celestara’s crater since he didn’t have full control of himself.
But if there was a straight line from Celestara to Yrgon, then he was sure he’d be able to run that distance within 3 seconds.
So my speed is around... uhh... fast. Rael nodded to himself.
Somewhere around 700 kilometers per second seemed fair.
Since he had arrived here unannounced, he planned to avoid getting caught.
Therefore, he jumped onto a nearby flat stone rooftop, slightly cracked from wear. Below him, narrow roads twisted between tightly packed buildings.
Still, he went ahead and sent a certain someone a message.
<Rael Sutekh: Hey, Zareth. Do you have any shadows in Yrgon? I’m going to be doing some stuff here and I’d like some of the shadows to be beside me.>
In an instant, he got his reply.
<Zareth’Null: I’m in Yrgon. Do you want me to come with you?>
Rael tilted his head.
<Rael Sutekh: How long will you be here? Since I might have a task for you after we’re done.>
By "the task," Rael meant finding Quarterpounder69, or rather, himself from the past.
I need to tell him about Melissa, though I really hope I had enough money at the time to afford a virtual reality pod... I think now’s around the time where I lost a bunch of cash gambling, Rael thought with a frown.
Soon after, he got a reply from Zareth.
But it wasn’t by text. Instead, it was a tap on the shoulder, slightly startling Rael.
"I’m here," Zareth announced. "What is it you wish to do?"
Rael took a deep breath, calming himself. How did I not sense this guy appear?
Anyhow...
"Remember the embassy?" Rael asked. "It was something I really wanted to establish in order to further our influence, but now it seems a little... out of reach, if you know what I mean."
Zareth nodded slowly. "Rumors spread that someone in the palace has been burning letters from Celestara addressed to the ruler of Yrgon."
It felt as if a bombshell had dropped, causing Rael’s eyes to widen.
"And you’re telling me this now?"
Zareth pulled a cigar out of nowhere, lit it, gave it a puff, then shrugged. "That is precisely why I came here personally. I wanted to find out who is responsible."
"And?"
"I was unsuccessful," Zareth finished. "But that doesn’t mean I didn’t figure something out. In fact, I believe I obtained some valuable intel."
He puffed the cigar once more. "Rumors were half-accurate. Someone is burning the letters, but they are being burnt before even reaching the royal palace."
He paused, giving Rael a moment to process.
But Rael soon came to his own conclusion.
Or rather, two.
"Do you think someone from the postal sector is tinkering with it? Or maybe... someone from our side?"
"It is not someone from our side," Zareth assured. "Our organization, Synthex, has spread its roots into the Celestara messaging system. What I mean by that is whatever message is to be delivered, my shadows are those who move forward with the delivery."
So in the end, the only clear lead was someone from Yrgon’s side.
"I’ve taken the necessary precautions and have begun monitoring their shadows. You don’t have to worry on that end," Zareth said plainly. "However, if there is something you wish to do, then I’d suggest you do it now. Winter is only a month away, after all."
Rael nodded.
He had planned to take over Yrgon, and that was still his goal.
Of course, he didn’t want to take it over by force, but he, at the very least, wanted to get involved so he could reap the long term benefits.
But since I won’t be doing it by force... it will take a while, Rael thought with a sigh. We need to establish an embassy, then start spreading Celestara’s influence bit by bit.
His main goal was to improve Yrgon to the point where the citizens notice the one responsible for the improvement. In the end, Rael hoped to gain the civilians’ favor with little to no pressure and eventually become the rightful king of Yrgon.
Though I definitely wouldn’t mind Halemire stepping up and merging Yrgon into Celestara, but oh well... that’s wishful thinking.
Still, Rael discussed the plan with Zareth a little more, and in the end, they parted ways.
Zareth was going to find out who was responsible for the letters being burned, and as for Rael, he made his way into the palace by jumping from the current rooftop to the royal palace’s rooftop in the distance.
The moment he arrived, he stealthily made his way down and slipped into the palace’s throne room.
There were no guards around, only the sound of someone flipping pages.
Once Rael looked further, he saw Halemire, who sat on his throne, dealing with paperwork.
Yet when he spotted Rael, his eyes narrowed.
"You know... I understand we might be close, but we’re not that close. I think we should draw the line at breaking into someone’s personal space unannounced, yes?" Halemire said, putting the documents away and standing up. "What is it you’ve come here for, Rael?"
A faint smile appeared on Rael’s face. "I’ve come to discuss the embassy."
Halemire tilted his head. "Couldn’t you have done it over letter? Or maybe a direct message?"
Rael shrugged. "I don’t have you added to my friend list."
"Oh..." Halemire’s eyes widened as he tapped the air, and soon... freewёbnoνel-com

"You could’ve contacted me through Aria," Halemire remarked, but upon noticing Rael’s silence, he let out a sigh. "I suppose not. You are right to be cautious, and I would be too. Though I wouldn’t have minded a heads up."
He walked over to a nearby table, the same one they had sat at when Rael first arrived.
Halemire pulled back the seats and shot Rael a glance.
"Let’s get on with it, shall we?"
