Re:Awakening with Ultimate Power as a Cosmic God-Chapter 38: Ch : Apply in Army- Part 3
Chapter 38: Ch 38: Apply in Army- Part 3
As soon as Nova came into focus, things changed. The two soldiers looked as if they had been smacked.
The cocky grins vanished, replaced by the pale realization that something had gone very, very wrong.
He was alive.
More than that—untouched.
Anna blinked up at Nova, then turned slowly toward the two soldiers who had brought them here. They were already backing away, nervous laughter spilling from their mouths.
"W-Well, you passed. Looks like you’re stronger than we thought. We’ll just go report this to the higher-ups—"
One of them stammered.
They didn’t get to finish.
Nova raised one hand and gave a short flick of his fingers.
Anna moved.
In one smooth motion, she reached into her belt and pulled out the compact taser she’d hidden there earlier.
With a quick step forward, she pressed it against the first soldier’s side. A sharp crackle echoed in the air as the current dropped him like a puppet with cut strings.
Before the second could react, she turned and pressed the taser under his chin. Another jolt. Another thud.
Both men collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Anna wiped the taser off on her sleeve and raised a brow.
"You could’ve stopped this earlier. Why go through that trial?"
Nova crouched beside the unconscious soldiers and answered without looking up.
"I wanted to give them a chance."
"A chance?"
Anna echoed.
"To live. But they were foolish enough to try and trick me. They chose their end."
Nova said simply.
He grabbed the wrist of the closest one and activated the device embedded under the skin.
A soft beep sounded as the interface projected a map into the air, filling with details of the surrounding sector.
Nova’s eyes moved quickly, pinpointing the exact coordinates of the application office they needed to infiltrate the Galactic Navel Force.
"Found it. Not far from here. Let’s move."
He muttered.
Anna stood, watching him work.
"Are we really leaving them like this? Someone’s bound to come looking."
Nova looked up at her for a moment, silent. Then he nodded toward the direction of their destination.
"Go ahead. I’ll take care of things here."
Anna hesitated.
"Nova..."
"I’ll be right behind you."
She nodded reluctantly, turning away and slipping through the darkened corridor.
As soon as she was gone, Nova stood to his full height and looked down at the two unconscious forms.
"Short-sighted. You should’ve walked away when you had the chance."
He murmured.
He extended his hand.
Aether hummed around his fingers, the air around him vibrating faintly. The temperature dropped slightly.
The energy pulsing from his palm wrapped around the fallen soldiers, thickening like a fog. Then, without a sound, the bodies began to dissolve.
No screams. No movement. Only quiet disintegration as the aether reduced everything—flesh, metal, gear—to fine black dust.
Within seconds, they were gone.
Nothing remained. No trace. No signature.
Nova turned and walked away, leaving the now-empty yard behind him, the dust scattering behind his boots as the wind picked up.
Anna was waiting for him at the end of the street.
"All done?"
She asked, not looking at him.
"All done."
He replied.
They didn’t speak after that, moving quietly toward their next destination, shadows blending into the crowded edges of Planet Ursa’s city.
Neither Nova nor Anna spent too much time loitering around the city.
Once they had what they needed—basic credentials, temporary documentation, and new clothes that made them look like every other hopeful recruit—they headed straight for the application site set up for new candidates hoping to join the Galactic Navel force.
Despite the reputation the Navel force had for power and prestige, the site wasn’t busy.
The reception area was large and quiet, the handful of applicants scattered in corners, whispering among themselves or nervously fidgeting.
Anna looked around with a furrowed brow.
"For a place as famous as this, the turnout is... low."
Nova kept walking, eyes straight ahead.
"Makes sense. Fear does a better job than reputation ever could."
Anna followed him.
"True. But I heard something strange once. The mortality rate in the Galactic Navel force? Surprisingly low."
Nova glanced at her.
"Low?"
Anna nodded.
"Injuries are common—really common. But deaths? Rare. From what I gathered, it’s all because of this tech they developed nearly a century ago. Something that heals even the worst injuries in a matter of days. Broken spine? Repaired. Crushed organs? Regrown."
Nova’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"Then why isn’t it public?"
"Exactly. It’s not on any official record. Most people don’t even know it exists. It’s kept within the highest levels of the force."
Anna’s voice dropped to a whisper.
Nova considered that in silence for a few moments before murmuring.
"It’s the ship of life. That kind of regeneration... only a core connected to that system could provide such rapid recovery at such a large area. Either that, a an apostle of the god of life...which I find hard to believe.
Anna turned to him, surprised.
"You think so?"
He didn’t answer, but the look in his eyes told her he was certain.
Before she could ask more, the door at the far end of the hall opened.
A small group of strict-looking people walked in—uniforms pressed, boots polished, every movement sharp and in perfect sync.
Their presence sucked the noise from the room. Even the applicants stopped talking.
Among them was a short woman with sharp eyes and a voice that cut clean through the silence.
"Aspiring engineers and support applicants, follow me. You have ten seconds to be on your feet."
Anna immediately stepped forward.
Nova gave her a small nod, and she returned it before disappearing into the hallway after the woman.
The remaining officers turned toward the rest of the applicants—those hoping to join the physical force.
Nova stayed exactly where he was.
The officer in charge stepped forward, his eyes sweeping over the remaining applicants like they were a line of broken machines.
"You want to join the might of the Galactic Navel force? Then we’ll see what you’re made of. The test will begin in five minutes. Get ready to move."
He said coldly.
Nova didn’t blink.
"You lot. This isn’t going to be a fun little adventure. Your time as candidates will be hard, brutal, and most of you will want to quit before the week is over."
He said, eyes sweeping across Nova and the other physical applicants,
He paused, letting the silence settle.
"But if you make it through—if you prove that you can endure what others can’t—you’ll be rewarded with something far more precious than money or fame."
The applicants looked at each other, some nervous, others fired up.
"But first, we start with the physical drill test. We’ll see who among you actually has what it takes to survive in the Galactic Navel force."
The man said, gesturing to a metal doorway that opened behind him,
He could already feel the aether of the planet responding to the shift in purpose.
The facility itself was alive with quiet energy, humming under the polished metal floor. Somewhere deep inside, the core of the ship of life pulsed with its silent rhythm.
He exhaled slowly. The real test hadn’t even started yet.
