Re-Birth Of A Genius. Creator/Destroyer-Chapter 2157 Auction
The disappearance of the Shadow Cavalry made Christos feel headless.
He didn't understand what to do. The family will ask him and hold him accountable. Particularly, the rival factions will definitely not let this go.
He is just short of banging his head against the wall, when he received two pieces of news.
One is that Sam has returned to the Olympian region and went to meet Dove. And another news is that Dove has agreed to start talking about Ransom exchange.
The first news made him wary and the second news made him delighted. He believed that both of them maybe related and even thanked Sam for his sudden arrival. He immediately agreed for the meeting.
And the time would be whenever Dove and her team wants the meeting to be held and the place would be wherever they wants the meeting to be held.
He just gave them free reign. As long as he could get back these people, he will feel less pressure from the league. And he can use them to get more coins so that the league students can get past the Hub for a couple of weeks at least.
This is the only chance he got to buy some breathing space.
To his further delight, Dove agreed for an immediate meeting in the Gambler Academy campus. The meeting was held in the student council office of the Gambler Academy.
It is a board room basically. With a large oval table.
Neither parties stood at the head and tail of the table. But only stood on the either side.
On the Gambler Academy's side, Dove, Sam and another senior named Hurin, the guy that usually tailed Dove. One of the grade 4 students. That was all their team had.
On the other hand, the Zeus Academy sent a bunch of people. Christos, and a bunch of other people from the League. Surprisingly, Sam recognized that a lot of them are the Demi-gods from way back when he was doing the hell trials.
They are part of the group that pit him against the Titans and in return got a giant pulsating middle finger created by the deadbodies of the Titans all neatly placed together.
And one of them is even more highlighted in his eyes. Because of the last name of that person.
Privi Thalassa.
The young master and the next in line to the throne of the patriarch of the Thalassa family. He could even summon the wind and command the rain back home. But here, he is not much. For context he is not even sitting at the table.
There is a line of people standing behind the Zeus Academy members and he is part of that line.
Sam looked at the list of people in his hands. There is no one named Thalassa in there. None of the captives belong to the Thalassa family, at least directly. So, his presence is a bit surprising.
Sam didn't have the time to check out the footage from the previous few days of surveillance, so he didn't know the reason which could have been possibly discussed in the meetings.
"Alright, let's get this thing started. What are your demands? As long as you can be a bit reasonable, we are happy to be generous with the ransom payments."
Christos opened the discussion.
"Of course, it is not like you have much choice here."
Sam muttered out loud. He is still looking at the list of people as if he couldn't care less about the big wigs sitting in front of him. And in reality he really couldn't care less.
Christos glanced at Sam, but didn't retort. He just looked at Dove.
"What do you say, Dove? I am sure you already thought of what you want from this ransom exchange. You had so much time to think after all."
"Well, we did. This ransom exchange is going to be a bit different than the ones we had before. Since, this war is very important to the Gambler Academy and it kind of influences the belief the students have in our school. That is why, we before we go further and discuss the exact value of the students that we captured, these are the list of the resources that we are going to accept the payment in. We can talk later about the quantity and if you want add or remove any items from the list, then that is fine as well. In that list, we also mentioned the maximum quantity of the particular item that we will accept. Even if you are willing to pay in that resource, we will not accept the resource once it surpasses a certain quantity.
You have to accept the situation and pay us in a different material.
This is the first thing that you need to go through and accept. Once the quantity limits and the materials themselves are fixed, we will proceed to next step."
Dove passed a bunch of booklets to these people. The booklets contained a large list of materials along with the maximum quantity limit of the items that can be used for the exchange. Christos looked through the list and felt his throat go dry.
It is not that the resources are extremely valuable, in fact not a single item in there can exactly considered be an unexchangeable material.
The materials are traded all the time and they are mostly liberal. He is shocked by the level of accuracy of the information mentioned in that booklet.
All of these resources are under the control of the families to which the captured students belonged to.
But the information that some of these resuorces are under these certain families is a secret. No one knew about the existence of those.
Even Christos doesn't know some of those details. And he turned to various family representatives that came along with him to see their reactions.
And just by judging their expressions, he could understand that these things did exist in their hands.
He didn't like the aftertaste of that thought. He just turned to Sam and the rest and said.
"We agree to use this as the currency. So, how are we evaluating the ransom for each person?" Dove smiled and said.
"That is what I am about to talk to you next. This will also be pretty straightforward."
She passed over another booklet. It has the list of all the captives in their hands. Christos looked through them and frowned.
"What is the meaning of this? Why are they evaluated in terms of coins?"
He had a bad feeling ins his heart. His heart is literally pounding in his chest.
"That is the decided ransom value of these students. There will be no negotiation in that." Dove replied, without explaining further.
"I can understand that part. But what I asked you is, why is their evaluation in coins? You just said that you want the resources as currency."
"Oh, that is true. However, the coins will be the unit they are evaluated by. For example, there are some captives that are worth around one hundred thousand coins.
So, for a captive like that, you need to pay one hundred thousand coins worth of resources." Dove said.
And this made the people behind Christos heave a little sigh. It is not of despair or frustration, but rather a slight sigh of relief. The reason for that relief? They believed that with this kind of pricing situation they can at least negotiate. After all, they are essentially giving a selling price for the resources.
However, if that is all there is, there would be no reason for Sam's intervention in this. Because this is the twist that Sam gave.
At that moment…..
*DING*
Everyone's wrist bands gave out alerts. They all got a message.
And everyone was lost in daze for a second when they saw the contents of it and it is from Joker.
"Hello my dear patrons.
This is Joker. Over the days I have realized that everyone is going through a troublesome phase.
The coin supply of the Academy realm has been stopped and you are all experiencing trouble finding a way to pay the weekly installments.
Many people have sent requests and certain someone even went as far as giving me threats and even sent assassins to the Hub.
So, I understand the seriousness of the situation. However, a contract is a contract. You should have been prepared by the rainydays.
Still, when I mentioned this problem to one of my friends, they became generous enough to give you guys a way out.
My friend will be holding a virtual auction in the Hub. You can join in from any Hub's branch.
In the auction, batches of coins will be auctioned and you can buy them with resources. And resources will be evaluated based on the current market rate in the Hub. There are going to be limited passes to even participate in the auction.
You need to buy it. In a few minutes, you will see an entry field in your wrist band's projection screen. You can enter what you can offer for the bid. Each branch has a hundred seats and the top hundred people can get access to the ticket.
To ensure fairness, the hundred are going to be divided among the four grade levels based on the academy grades.
And just to give you guys some leeway, the Academy can send elders, instructors or Deans themselves to the auction. Each academy has two seats for themselves and they are not related to the hundred seats that I mentioned.
The managers will help you gain access to the auction. I wish you the best."
