Chapter 160: Battle Of Stargaze City (2)

"Roar!"

Serynthia let out a deafening draconic cry, her voice shaking the air like thunder. A surge of flame burst from her maw, incinerating a group of World Divers in an instant, their bodies reduced to ash even through their activated shields.

"DIE!"

The Mountain King roared, his voice like an avalanche crashing down a mountain. Now towering at a height of 200 meters, his titanic frame was a force of nature. With a swing of his colossal arms, a rain of jagged earth spikes shot out in every direction, impaling and sinking several enemy ships.

The soldiers aboard the warships stared at him with disbelief and dread.

"It’s a monster—no, a calamity!" one of them cried.

Still, not all was one-sided.

Some of the enemey World Divers had come prepared. They wielded enchanted gear forged specifically to resist extreme heat and elemental fire. Working in unison, they began to take down Igaris’ Fire Spirits one by one.

On the other front, holy magic illuminated the air like divine judgment. Arcs of golden light pierced the ground, striking down the low-ranked undead who screamed and dissolved into dust. Clerics and Paladins advanced steadily, using sacred arts to burn through the ranks of the dead.

The sky, already darkened by the smoke and the weight of storm clouds, seemed to brace itself for the long night ahead.

Then it happened.

Amid the falling flames and crashing spells, a lone figure stepped forward from the undead ranks.

Clad in dark armor, bones pale under the flicker of firelight, Commander Malthius walked with slow, measured steps. Though fleshless, his presence was overwhelming, and the undead around him stirred as though rallying to his will.

Across the battlefield, an enemy captain took notice. He narrowed his eyes, sensing the raw pressure rolling off the skeletal warrior.

"That one’s different. A high-ranking undead..." he muttered, gripping his sword.

Before he could act, the air split.

Splash!

Time seemed to stop for the man. The world tilted sideways. Then, nothing but blackness.

His head had been severed cleanly from his shoulders. His body slumped seconds later, blood spraying into the sand like a fountain.

Commander Malthius stood still, sword extended.

He had not taken a second strike.

He had used the Godslayer Sword Style’s First Form:

One Strike, One Cut.

The undead behind him roared as one. "Grrrr..."

Their commander had spoken through his blade.

Now they would march.

Rumble! Rumble!

The skies churned with thunder and ash. Amid the sea winds and cries of war, two women floated above the raging front, their presence causing the very air to still.

Shirley Wane, clad in a radiant phoenix-red robe, hair shimmering gold under the dying light, raised her hand gently. Her eyes glowed with divine brilliance, and her very aura weaved itself into the wind.

Whispers fluttered in the breeze. Soft. Seductive. Terrifying.

Heavenly Enchantress Domain: "Dreamscape Bloom."

A spiral of golden light burst from her body, blanketing a wide radius. In an instant, hundreds of enemy soldiers found their hearts slowing, their weapons slipping from their grasp. Confusion flooded their minds.

"What... what am I doing here...?" one muttered, as if waking from a long dream.

"She’s gorgeous... she’s too beautiful..." another said, dropping to his knees, tears spilling down his face.

Soldiers, even those protected by mental defense techniques, found themselves caught in a trance. It was not mere charm—it was domination of the soul.

Shirley’s voice echoed, soft but impossible to ignore.

"Sleep. And forget your cruelty."

Golden petals began falling from the sky like rain. Each one touched the soldiers and sapped their will, eroding hatred, fear, and rage. The stronger ones tried to resist—only to find their minds shattered by the conflicting beauty and horror.

A few tried to attack her in desperation.

"Snap out of it! She’s just a girl—"

But their movements froze mid-air.

"Soul Reflection: Reverse Despair."

A mirror of light appeared before Shirley. The attackers saw their own darkest fears reflected back at them, magnified to unbearable intensity. Screams echoed. Some fled. Others collapsed, trembling.

"Fufufu... "

Then, from the side, a mesmerising laugh rang through the sky like a bell of doom.

Evernight stepped forward, clad in pitch-black robes laced with violet energy. Her eyes glowed an unholy crimson, and her demonic horns shimmered in the gloom.

She floated beside Shirley, her judgement chains hovering above her shoulder.

"I believe it’s my turn," she said softly, voice laced with menace.

She pressed a hand against Chains.

"Eternal Curse: Thousand Agonies."

The Chains cried out with a scream no mortal weapon should produce. The haunting scream echoed across the battlefield like a ripple through hell.

At once, the enemy fleet began writhing in chaos.

On one battleship, a commander clutched his head, blood pouring from his eyes.

"Aaaaargh! What... what is this?! My body—"

His flesh bubbled and cracked, veins turning black. Across the armada, men collapsed screaming, their insides eating away at themselves.

One mage activated a protective barrier.

"Protect yourselves! It’s a soul curse—"

The barrier shattered like glass.

"No... it’s not just soul damage," whispered one terrified priest.

"It’s rewriting their fate."

Evernight’s aura twisted reality. Her demonic energy laced itself into the bloodlines of her targets, infecting lineage, karma, and even resurrection techniques.

And then she raised her hand once more.

"Divine Art: Chains of Judgment."

The clouds above tore open.

More Golden-white chains, inscribed with celestial runes, descended from the heavens like divine punishment.

They crashed into several warships, wrapping around them with blinding brilliance. Engines exploded. Mages screamed as their power backfired. Entire decks erupted into fire and smoke.

"No! What kind of monster is this?!"

"That’s not a woman—she’s a celestial executioner!"

Chains wrapped around commanders, priests, and elite soldiers, pinning them midair. Then with a flick of Evernight’s finger, they were yanked into the sea like dolls.

On the other side, Shirley gently landed on the ground near the flames. She clasped her hands together.

"Soul Release: Graceful Passing."

A wave of gentle energy surged forward and put dozens of cursed enemies to rest without pain. Their bodies disintegrated into light.

"Igaris..." Shirley whispered, her golden eyes glowing with love. "We’ll clear the path for you. And you must the one to end this."

Evernight stood beside her, her hand still resting on the Chains.

"Let them understand who they dared to challenge."
