Chapter 75 - Disorder

Subaru was looking at the Book of Pathways Beatrice had given him as he was taking note on them, he was looking at them.

[Echidna then spoke in his head. "So, what are you doing"]

Subaru then spoke. "If I want to make my Own Pathway, I need to figure the full aspect of each know Pathway in this world, I would start with Fool Pathway my Pathway But".

[Pandora spoke in his head. "Bu?".]

He spoke in his head. "I starting with the Visionary Pathways, aka the Pathway you and Echidna Follow, this seems the easiest to follow".

Beatrice then spoke. "And now he is writing down his own Version of the Visionary Pathways, and using it as a guide line"

Beatrice sat beside him in the room filled with ticking gears and humming mana lines, arms crossed and looking vaguely annoyed as usual — but her eyes were sharp, scanning his notes with hidden interest.

Subaru flipped another page in the Book of Pathways, ancient ink glowing faintly. Symbols and hieroglyphs danced on the paper, only legible to those marked by the Witches.

[Echidna chuckled in his mind.] "Easiest? Oh, Subaru, don't underestimate the Visionary. It's not about seeing the future. It's about seeing what shouldn't be seen and still surviving it."

[Pandora added with a soft hum:] "But it's the most 'hopeful' one. It wants to understand the truth, even if the truth is a lie."

Subaru jotted down some notes under the header:

Pathway: The One Who Knows

Sequence 9: Dreamer

Sequence 8: Watcher

Sequence 7: Listener

Sequence 6: Whisperer

Sequence 5: Seeker

Sequence 4: Oracle

Sequence 3: Clairvoyant

Updat𝓮d from freewēbnoveℓ.com.

Sequence 2: Truth Binder

Sequence 1: Star Reader

Sequence 0 (Godhood): The One Who Knows

He tapped his pen against the paper. "The core of the Visionary Pathway seems to be knowledge. Hidden truths. Awareness that transcends timelines and logic."

[Echidna whispered, almost fondly:] "Yes. It's what let me survive so many returns. It's what lets you see beyond death... beyond fate."

Subaru narrowed his eyes. "And that's why I'm studying it first. If I understand how it works, I can anchor parts of it into my own custom Pathway — perhaps make a fail-safe so my creations won't collapse into madness."

Beatrice finally spoke aloud. "...Just don't break yourself in the process, I suppose. I refuse to clean up after you again."

Subaru chuckled softly. "I'll try my best, Bets."

The machine's heart pulsed faintly, as if resonating with the knowledge being recorded.

Subaru's Goal:

Decode all 22 base Pathways.

Extract safe, stable elements from each.

Build a new custom Pathway tree: "The Sovereign Arcana".

He looked at the book again.

"Next... the Tyrant Pathway."

Would you like to continue with Subaru decoding the Tyrant Pathway next, or have someone interrupt him while he's mid-research?

Beatrice looked at him as she spoke. "You known I still can't believe all The Witch's Of Sin, are living in soul rent free, like how can you just say that to me like this".

Subaru looked as he spoke. "Was it that bad".

Beatrice looked at him as she spoke. "That was literally 30 minutes ago".

Flashback – 30 Minutes Ago

Subaru was casually flipping through the Book of Pathways, seated cross-legged on a desk in the mansion's lower archives, when Beatrice had walked in with her usual annoyed face and teacup in hand.

Beatrice had barely taken two steps inside when Subaru nonchalantly said, "Oh yeah, by the way, all the Witch's of Sin are living rent free in my soul. Just thought you should know."

Beatrice froze. The cup in her hand trembled, and for a second, Subaru swore he heard the sound of a thousand magic circuits short-circuiting in her head.

"...What?" she asked flatly.

Subaru tilted his head. "You know... Satella, Echidna, Minerva, Typhon, Pandora, Carmilla, Sekhmet... all of them. They're kinda in my head. Technically, my soul. Long story."

Beatrice stared at him, the silence heavier than any magic she could cast.

He added, smiling sheepishly, "It's a bit crowded in there, but I've got good soundproofing."

Beatrice snapped. "CROWDED—?! What in the name of the great library do you mean 'crowded'!? That's seven Witch-level entities occupying your mental and spiritual space! You say that as if you let in some stray cats!"

Subaru raised a finger as he activated [Witch's Lie] and lied. "Technically, Echidna was first. The rest just... showed up."

Beatrice took a deep breath, magic flaring at her fingertips. "And why, in the name of the Gospels, would you not tell me this immediately?!"

Subaru smiled nervously. "Because I knew you'd react like this?"

Beatrice's eye twitched as she slowly placed her teacup down, magic spiraling in her palm.

"I'm going to hit you with a comprehension spell so hard, you'll feel every ounce of how dumb that decision was."

Back to Present

Beatrice still had the same look of absolute disbelief on her face.

Subaru rubbed the back of his head. "...Okay, yeah, fair. But look on the bright side — free rent and infinite lectures."

[Echidna snickered in his head:] "He's not wrong."

[Minerva sighed:] "Subaru, sweetie, you really have no self-preservation instincts, do you?"

Beatrice glared. "I heard that. All of that."

Subaru sweatdropped. "Okay, okay... maybe I should start organizing weekly soul-room meetings. Assign some corners."

Want to continue with more banter, or shift to something else like Cecilus reappearing, or the next Pathway Subaru studies?

Beatrice looked as she spoke. "You know what this explains so much"

Subaru looked at her as he spoke. "About what"

Beatrice pointed at him. "Like the fact you randomly go quiet, how I can feel a chill something which now I know is the fact that fucking Pandora lives your Soul just to cuddle with you, how you know about the Pathways before anyone told you, and how you just have this insane learning speed when it comes to magic"

Subaru looks as he speaks. "Yeah, that's because of them".

Beatrice looked at him as she spoke. "So is the whole Divine Blessing Of Sorcery also a Lie".

Subaru looked at her as he spoke. "The Only Reason I have all the magic Types is because all the witches are in my soul".

Beatrice took a deep breath as she spoke. "Does Anyone else know"

Just like Koyami came, as the Yin and Yang Spirit lazily plopped on Subaru, the Cat/Fox/Rabbit-like Spirit just lazily yawned.

Subaru then spoke. "Other the spirit I am contracted to, Al, don't ask why; he has his secret, and I won't be telling".

Beatrice looked at Koyami, who was now comfortably curled up on Subaru's shoulder like a smugly satisfied spirit ball of fur and smugness.

"...Of course the ancient Yin-Yang Spirit is contracted to you," she muttered, eyes twitching slightly. "Why am I not surprised at this point? What's next? The primordial dragon of time is hiding in your bathtub?"

Koyami lazily yawned, one eye half-lidded as they looked at Beatrice. "We'd consider the bathtub. It has good temperature regulation," the spirit mumbled telepathically, clearly unconcerned with anything beyond naps and cuddles.

Subaru chuckled, scratching behind Koyami's ear. "Relax, Beako. You've already known me long enough to know I'm a walking magnet for nonsense."

Beatrice folded her arms, clearly unimpressed. "There's nonsense, Subaru, and then there's you casually being a walking soul-condo for 8 god-tier witches, housing an ancient spirit, and moonlighting as the founder of a revolutionary underground organization nonsense."

Subaru gave a half-smile. "When you say it like that, it sounds like I'm overachieving."

"Overachieving?! Subaru, this isn't overachieving—this is insanity on a metaphysical level! You are literally a convergence point of several impossible phenomena!"

[Echidna in his head whispered smugly:] "I mean, she's not wrong. We did choose well."

[Pandora hummed happily:] "We always choose well."

[Minerva added, slightly annoyed:] "I'd rather he sleep more. He's overworking himself again."

[Typhon giggled:] "I like Beatrice. She's fun!"

Subaru's eye twitched. "Can you all not do commentary during Beako's panic mode?"

Beatrice glared harder. "You're hearing them right now, aren't you!?"

Subaru raised both hands defensively. "Look, I didn't ask to be Witch Real Estate, okay? This just... happened."

Koyami purred. "We're all here now. Might as well enjoy the chaos."

Beatrice muttered something under her breath that sounded suspiciously like "I swear if Satella herself shows up next, I'm going to burn this entire mansion."

Subaru blinked. "Actually..."

"DON'T."

Beatrice looked at him as she spoke. "Anyway, back to these Cards of Disorder, why are you making them? Why are you trying to create your Pathway".

Subaru looked at her as he spoke. "To Achieve God Hood, and have people I care about also achieve it".

What were the things that had whatever sanity was left in Beatrice to just die amd go to heaven?

Beatrice stared at Subaru for a full five seconds.

Then blinked.

Then double-blinked.

Then slowly turned around, walked to the nearest wall... and lightly bonked her head against it. Once. Twice. Thrice.

She muttered under her breath, "I am too young to be dealing with this much divine bullshit."

Subaru tilted his head. "...You okay?"

Beatrice slowly turned back around, her expression hollow. "Godhood, Subaru? You're trying to reach Godhood? And not just you, but you want to drag others with you too?!"

Subaru shrugged. "Well, yeah. What's the point of climbing that high if I'm alone? Besides, the world is too cruel. If I have the power to change it, why shouldn't I?"

Beatrice opened her mouth. Closed it. Opened it again.

And finally said:

"Okay. No. I give up. You've officially broken whatever was left of my sanity."

She dramatically threw her hands in the air. "You've got witches in your soul, a god-tier spirit for a pet, a revolutionary army, secret identities, stolen literary fame, and now you're trying to transcend humanity! At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if you told me you were the reincarnation of Flugel or the spawn of Satella."

Subaru scratched his cheek. "I mean..."

Beatrice threw a chair at him.

Koyami lazily hovered out of the way and mumbled, "We live for the drama."

Beatrice slumped onto the floor dramatically like a defeated stage actress. "I'm done. I'm done. If tomorrow Subaru says he's marrying Pandora, I'm just going to smile, nod, and pack my bags for the afterlife."

Subaru chuckled. "Too late. She already proposed—"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

The scream was so loud, that in the Crusch Camp, Crusch who was sleeping, woke up, looked around and sighed

Crusch then screamed into her pillow. "Why was I having dreams About Natsuki Subaru, sure I have feelings for him".

In the same moment, Ferris peeked his head into the room, eyes half-lidded with sleep, holding a mug of warm milk.

"Crusch-sama~ did you just scream about Subaru-kun again?"

Crusch's face was buried in the pillow as her muffled voice replied, "No, yes—maybe—shut up, Ferris."

Ferris strolled in, plopped himself on the edge of the bed, and sipped his milk. "You've been dreaming about him every night this week. At this point, even Wilhelm-san noticed and started sharpening his sword a little too dramatically whenever someone says 'Subaru'."

Crusch sat up, her cheeks slightly red. "I don't know what's happening to me. He's reckless, impulsive, and hides too much. But then he goes and... does things. Like casually uniting factions. Defeating Sin Archbishops. Publishing best-selling books."

Ferris smirked. "Not to mention that dreamy black smoke aesthetic and mysterious mask when he's acting all edgy in the capital~"

Crusch blinked. "Wait, how do you—?"

Ferris grinned. "Whoops~ I mean, what mask? What edginess? I said nothing!"

Crusch narrowed her eyes. "Ferris..."

Meanwhile, back at Subaru's place, he was sneezing violently.

Pandora floated lazily beside him, smirking. "Someone must be talking about you, oh Hero of the Black Smoke."

Subaru sighed. "I swear, if Crusch is dreaming about me again—"

Beatrice, still on the floor from her mental breakdown, screamed, "WHY IS THIS YOUR LIFE?!!"

Subaru simply replied, "Skill issue."

After a while, Beatrice was looking through Subaru notes about the cards of Disorder, she read. "To reach godhood through these cards, the public must believe your a good, or one of your many identity is a God". She stopped as she continued. "This the allows the ones with the Card Or Disorder to get power's from set Worship, the Power it then given straight to the power, and not Ego?".

Beatrice's brow furrowed deeper the more she read, her voice growing a bit sharper as she muttered to herself, "So the energy from worship... bypasses the soul entirely? No ego corruption, no loss of self?"

She paused, flipping through more of Subaru's pages filled with diagrams, hastily scribbled theories, and little doodles of what looked like an annoyed Echidna choking him in the margins.

Her expression grew serious as she whispered, "Subaru... you're trying to cheat the system. Not just the Pathway system, but even the divine structure. You want to create gods... without the burden of divinity."

Subaru walked into the room mid-sip from his tea. "Oh, so you found the crazy part."

Beatrice glared at him, waving the notes. "Crazy is an understatement, I suppose! This is heresy, sacrilege, a complete—insanity! You're trying to rewrite belief itself!"

Subaru sat on the edge of the desk, setting the tea down. "Not rewrite... redirect. Every god in this world gets their power from belief, devotion, fear, or love. But most of that power is unstable or warps the vessel—look at the Witch Cult's Archbishops. I'm just giving people an anchor."

Beatrice stared at him for a long time. "And what about the cost? You always forget there's a cost."

Subaru looked away, voice softer. "I haven't forgotten. I just haven't figured out who should pay it yet."

A silence hung in the air until Pandora appeared, floating upside down with a serene smile. "Why not let them decide? If someone's willing to see you as a god, they're willing to accept a little chaos too."

Beatrice growled, "You're not helping."

Pandora just giggled. "I'm not supposed to."
