Rebirth: A Second chance at life-Chapter 51: Who is Aurora?
Chapter 51: Who is Aurora?
After Aurora carefully disinfected the needles and stored them safely, she gently helped Jenny to her feet and led her toward the medicinal bath.
The warm water was infused with a mixture of rare herbs, carefully selected to nourish her weakened body and aid in the final stages of detoxification.
As Jenny stepped into the bath, a soothing warmth spread through her body, easing any lingering discomfort.
Aurora watched over her, ensuring the herbs were working their magic. "Just relax," she said softly. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"This will help your body recover faster." Jenny nodded, feeling a comforting sense of relief as the tension in her muscles melted away.
Meanwhile, Bishop arrived with the newly appointed nanny. She was a middle-aged woman with a composed demeanor, her presence exuding warmth and reliability.
Dressed modestly, she carried herself with quiet confidence, her eyes filled with experience and understanding.
Aurora glanced at her, assessing her carefully. "You must be the nanny Bishop selected," she said, her tone neutral yet firm.
The nanny couldn’t help but be momentarily stunned as she took in Aurora’s appearance. What a beauty! she thought.
Though slightly plump, Aurora’s refined features had an elegance that was hard to ignore. There was something about her presence that felt commanding yet warm.
But... isn’t she too young to be a mother to this five-year-old girl? Margaret wondered silently. However, she quickly suppressed her curiosity and composed herself.
The woman nodded respectfully. "Yes, Miss Aurora. My name is Margaret.
Bishop informed me about the young lady’s condition, and I assure you, I have experience in caring for children with delicate health."
Aurora’s sharp gaze lingered on Margaret for a moment before she nodded. "We’ll see how you do. For now, watch over Jenny and follow the routine I’ve set for her."
Margaret bowed slightly. "Understood, Miss Aurora. I’ll do my best."
Aurora turned to Bishop. "Take her to her quarters and explain her work responsibilities in detail. After that, meet me in my study."
Bishop nodded obediently. "Understood, Boss."
Handing Jenny over to Margaret, Aurora turned on her heels and headed straight to her study. Today was an important day—she needed to visit the university where the original Aurora had been enrolled.
Though she had no personal interest in completing a degree, she couldn’t leave loose ends. Aurora Smith had been a dropout, but now, under her control, that would change.
She had to officially enroll and finish her graduation, not just for the sake of maintaining the identity but also to strengthen her standing in society.
She would take Aurora to the highest peaks of success, to a place where no one could look down on her again.
The very people who had mocked and despised her would soon find themselves choking on their own arrogance, slapped hard by the harsh hand of reality.
Aurora Smith—the girl they ridiculed, the girl they trampled upon—would become a name they would fear, respect, and regret underestimating.
Bishop entered the study, his footsteps steady and composed. Aurora glanced up from her desk, her piercing gaze locking onto him.
"Have you found what I asked for?" she inquired, her voice calm yet carrying an undeniable weight.
Bishop gave a slight nod. "Yes, Boss. The matter is even more complicated than we initially thought."
Aurora leaned back in her chair, fingers interlocked as she gestured for him to continue.
Bishop exhaled before continuing. "On July 18th, nineteen years ago, Lily was still married to John.
At that time, they had no children. She had miscarried twice before, and from what I found, it wasn’t due to natural causes—John used to beat her up."
Aurora’s gaze darkened, but she remained silent, allowing him to proceed.
"I also looked into John’s records," Bishop continued. "He was a real estate businessman, and his company was doing fine—until one of his female employees committed suicide by jumping from the nineteenth floor at the construction site of JM real estate.
After that incident, his business faced severe backlash and started crumbling. When he lost everything, he became a drunkard and started abusing Lily every day."
"I also considered the possibility that Aurora was adopted since there was no biological connection between her and Lily.
To verify this, I meticulously searched through every adoption record from that time, yet not a single document indicated that Lily and Joseph adopted a child.
It was as if Aurora had appeared out of thin air.
Unwilling to leave any stone unturned, I expanded my search to nearby hospitals, cross-referencing birth records from that exact date.
"The results were... unsettling. Not a single baby born on that date matches your DNA. I ran multiple searches, cross-referencing hospital records, and still, nothing.
And as for the few children who were born on the same day, thorough investigation revealed that they were either boys or currently residing with their biological families, their identities intact and their histories well-documented.
There was not a single case of an abandoned infant, nor any record of a child being placed for adoption around that time.
It was as if Aurora Smith had simply appeared out of thin air, with no past, no official record of birth, and no tangible connection to the family that claimed her.
Even the orphanages had no record of any newborns being placed in their care.
Every official record pointed to a carefully fabricated identity, one that had been woven into the Smith family’s history with deliberate precision.
If Aurora was truly their daughter, there should have been a birth certificate, a hospital record, or at the very least, some trace of her existence before she became a Smith, Lily’s daughter. Yet, every lead led to a dead end.
The fact that no baby matching her description was born on that date, adopted, or even abandoned in any nearby hospitals or orphanages made one thing painfully clear—someone had gone to great lengths to conceal the truth.
But why? And more importantly, who was Aurora Smith before she became part of the Smith family?
Whether it was deliberately altered or if she was never documented at birth at all, one thing is certain—her origins are shrouded in mystery."
A heavy silence settled in the study. Aurora’s eyes darkened as she processed the information.
"Interesting," she murmured, a cold smile tugging at her lips. "That means someone went to great lengths to erase her origins. Keep digging, Bishop. I want every possibility investigated."
"Understood, Boss," he replied with a firm nod.
