Rebirth: A Second chance at life-Chapter 65: Relaxing her muscles..
Chapter 65: Relaxing her muscles..
Once outside, she headed straight to her car—a sleek black Aston Martin that drew more attention than she cared for.
She had somewhere else to be. There was an old medicinal shop in the outskirts of town that carried rare herbs she needed.
Her mind was already shifting focus, thinking about the list of ingredients she’d written earlier.
But not long after pulling out of the school parking lot, she noticed something.
A glance at the rearview mirror.
A dark SUV following her.
Then another one.
And then a third.
Her eyes narrowed. She tapped a few commands on her custom phone and ran the plates. Alexander.
A small smirk curved her lips.
That was fast, she thought.
Without warning, she spun the wheel sharply and exited the highway, weaving through traffic and taking sudden turns.
The tail cars tried to follow, but Aurora’s driving was swift, calculated, and smooth. Soon, she led them to a secluded mountain road—isolated, silent, and far from the city noise.
She stopped her car at a wide clearing by the roadside. Behind her, the SUVs came to a screeching halt.
Doors flung open. Men poured out.
She recognized some of them instantly.
One of the men stepped forward. "Miss Smith, Mr. Brown has asked us to bring you back."
She walked toward him slowly, her expression unreadable.
Then, without warning, her hand flew out and struck him across the face with such force that his tooth flew out. He crumbled to the ground, groaning in pain.
The others charged.
But they didn’t know who they were dealing with.
These were the same men who had once beaten her, stripped her of her dignity, and left her half-dead on a cold mountain road. But today, she wasn’t that weak, broken girl.
Today, she was Luna.
She spun, kicked, and punched with brutal precision. In a matter of minutes, three of the men were on the ground, their limbs twisted, their bones shattered beyond repair.
She grabbed one by the collar, twisted his arm until it snapped, and tossed him into the side of the car.
Another tried to strike from behind, but she moved like lightning, dodging and slamming her elbow into his throat.
Blood spilled across the gravel.
Cries of pain echoed in the mountains.
The rest of the guards looked at each other, hesitation etched across their faces. They wanted to stop her, but now they questioned if it was even worth it.
What is she? one of them thought, trembling.
They had been told to retrieve a helpless girl. What they faced now was a monster of strength and skill.
And then came the voice.
"Aurora!"
She wiped the blood off her cheek with the back of her hand and turned her head slowly.
Alexander.
And beside him stood Veronica, her face pale, eyes wide with shock. She clung to his arm, tears spilling down her cheeks, but her trembling lips betrayed her real fear.
Neither of them could believe what they were seeing.
Alexander took a step forward. "What the hell is this? Aurora, what have you done?"
She stared at him, unflinching.
Alexander couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of unease. That look in her eyes... cold, deadly. For the first time, he felt fear.
"You haven’t changed, have you?" he said bitterly. "Just changed your methods. Now that we’re divorced, you’re using different tricks to get my attention?"
Aurora laughed.
Not a light laugh.
A dark, humorless one.
"Attention?" she repeated, her voice laced with mockery. "I’ve never seen someone so shameless and narcissistic."
She took a step toward him.
"These were your men. They followed me. You followed me. I didn’t come looking for any of you."
Alexander flinched.
Veronica tightened her grip on his arm.
Aurora tilted her head slightly, her eyes gleaming with something dangerous.
"And next time, if you try sending your dogs after me again... I won’t stop at just their limbs."
She walked past them without another word, her heels clicking against the mountain gravel like a declaration.
Alexander remained frozen.
But suddenly, a loud thud echoed through the quiet mountain road. All eyes turned toward the sound.
Veronica had dropped to her knees, her hands gripping the edge of Aurora’s coat as she began to sob uncontrollably.
"Sister... please," she cried, her voice trembling and soaked in desperation. "Please save Mother. She’s in pain.
You know she’s your biological mother... she carried you in her womb for nine months!
How can you be so cold, so heartless? You can save her... you just need to speak to Mr. Harrison. He listens to you now. He respects you."
Aurora looked down at the girl kneeling before her. Her face remained emotionless, cold and unmoved by the scene.
Her eyes didn’t soften; if anything, they grew sharper, filled with something unreadable.
Veronica’s cries echoed in the air, but there wasn’t even a flicker of compassion in Aurora’s expression.
Alexander shifted beside them, clearly irritated. His fists clenched at his sides and he narrowed his eyes at Aurora.
"Well, well, Miss Smith," he sneered. "So this is the real you, huh? Betraying me and my grandfather, pretending to be some kind-hearted angel, acting so pitiful... What a joke.
You really fooled us. Bravo."
He stepped forward, his voice rising as he tried to assert control.
"Now enough of this act," he said in a commanding tone. "You’re coming with us.
You think you can run around doing whatever you want? Just because you’ve gained a little strength? Don’t forget who you are!"
He expected her to flinch, to show even a little fear.
But Aurora didn’t budge. Instead, she smirked.
That smirk—so calm, so mocking—sent a chill down Alexander’s spine.
She tilted her head slightly and folded her arms, looking at him like he was the most pathetic thing in the world.
"Is that supposed to scare me?" she said, her voice low and cold.
"Your threats don’t work on me anymore, Alexander. You don’t scare me. You never did."
Alexander’s jaw clenched.
"And as for your little speech about betrayal..." She let out a humorless laugh.
"You betrayed yourself long before I ever did. You threw away a woman who gave everything just to be acknowledged.
You let others abuse her while you stood by and watched. Now you want to act like the victim?"
Her eyes darted to Veronica, who was still crying at her feet.
"As for you," she said, her voice razor-sharp. "Don’t call me sister. "Don’t ever call me sister. I don’t want that title from someone as pathetic as you."
Veronica trembled, her sobs growing louder.
"You say she’s my biological mother?" Aurora continued, her gaze hardening.
"The same woman who let her real daughter be beaten, starved, and treated like garbage?
The one who stood silent while your family destroyed me? The one who chose comfort and lies over her own child’s well-being?"
She crouched down slowly, meeting Veronica’s tear-filled eyes.
"You think blood makes family?" she whispered. "Then maybe you should ask yourself... why do I feel nothing for her?"
Veronica flinched as if struck.
Aurora straightened, brushing the dust from her coat, and looked at Alexander again.
"And Mr. Harrison?" she said with a smirk. "You think I care about what he does?
Alexander’s anger flared, but again, he found himself hesitating. There was something terrifying in Aurora’s calmness. Something unshakable.
"You think I won’t force you?" he growled.
"You can try," she said flatly.
She took a step closer to him. "But I don’t think your men will come running this time... Not after what they saw."
Aurora turned, walking back toward her car, her coat billowing behind her in the wind.
