Chapter 53: Suspect Her

Aurora glanced at Josh without slowing down.

"Did you forget that I’m majoring in Computer Science? Places like this aren’t a secret for computer science students; we know how to find cheaper computers."

"Ah, you’re right. But did you know Nubox doesn’t sell its products to anyone? You need a recommendation from one of their VIP customers," Josh said again.

"Let’s see. I like to see if they reject me," Aurora replied casually, quickening her step. She was also curious whether they would accept her order or turn her away.

Aurora knew she was not Aurora Moon. So, she was uncertain whether she would be welcomed or kicked out of Nubox Junction. However, she had already devised a way to convince them to let her make a purchase.

If they refused her, her only option would be to order computer spare parts from abroad, which would take longer to arrive at her location.

When they finally arrived at Nubox Junction, there were no customers in the store—only one staff member sitting behind the counter.

The shop looked like an ordinary computer store.

"Good afternoon..." the man greeted them nonchalantly, clearly uninterested in making a sale. "Have you ordered online?"

Josh, who overheard the shop staff, felt concerned. He approached her and whispered, "Ma’am, if you need a recommendation, I can call someone from the office to assist you." He planned to ask Alvin to reach out to Patrick to recommend her.

Aurora glanced at Josh, curious about whom he intended to ask. "Could someone help me? Don’t tell me it’s Alex?"

Josh chuckled. "Of course not. But I can call Alvin to ask him to speak with the IT Director."

’Ah, Patrick,’ Aurora thought with a smile. She knew that only she and Patrick had access to Nubox Junction.

"Thanks, Josh, but you don’t have to do that. I have a recommendation letter," Aurora replied with a smile before returning to the shop staff.

Josh was stunned. "You have? Who!?" he asked curiously.

Aurora remained silent as she took a piece of paper from her bag and handed it to the staff member.

"Young Miss, I’m sorry, but we do not sell computers or spare parts directly or without a recommendation," the man said, noticing the girl offering him a piece of paper.

She sighed deeply upon hearing his words. This was challenging for her because these people only recognized Aurora Moon. But now? She was no longer Aurora Moon; she was Spencer.

"Can you check this before refusing me?" she said coldly, attempting to intimidate him.

The shop staff was taken aback, staring into the girl’s sharp gaze. Although he was confused, he still took the paper.

When he saw its contents, he immediately stood up from his chair and bowed slightly.

"Young Miss, please wait a moment. I will ask my boss in the back..." he said before disappearing through the door behind him.

Josh was stunned when he saw the shop staff’s shocking reaction after taking the paper from Aurora.

Curious about who recommended Aurora and why the staff seemed so intimidated by her, he asked, "Ma’am, how did you do that?"

Aurora smiled at Josh, feigning ignorance. "Do what?"

"How did you make the shop staff bow to you? Who recommended you, ma’am?"

She considered saying "myself," but knew he wouldn’t believe her. Instead, she randomly replied, "My professor." It was the only name she felt comfortable sharing.

"Ah, no wonder," Josh said, losing his curiosity.

Not long after, the shop staff returned. His expression was no longer nonchalant; he looked worried and tense.

Trailing behind him was another older man. That man was the shop manager.

"Young Miss, I sincerely apologize for keeping you waiting," the old man said warmly. He greeted Aurora politely and gestured for her to follow him to his office.

Aurora remained silent and simply nodded in response. Before following him, she turned to Josh and asked him to wait outside. She didn’t want him to know what she had bought.

The room inside was strikingly different from the display shop outside. It was a bright, empty hall with a few shelves in the corner that held a computer and some spare parts.

Aurora knew that this room was merely for show. The actual warehouse was in the basement, a place she had frequently visited in her previous life.

This time, Aurora didn’t plan to visit the warehouse. She was short on time.

She simply needed to confirm whether they could provide what she required today or if she would arrange to pick it up in a few days.

The old man led her to his office, which was located at the end of the hall. The office looked clean and modern.

"Miss, I apologize for keeping you waiting so long. My staff outside didn’t recognize you. Usually, it’s Miss Moon who visits our shop," the old man said after they settled into the seating area.

"It’s fine, sir; I understand," she smiled calmly, trying not to show her nervousness.

"Miss, may I ask where Miss Moon is?" the old man inquired, leaving Aurora slightly stunned. She hadn’t expected him to ask about her.

"Honestly, I’m not sure. My boss just asked me to come here today. Could you provide the items on the list?" Aurora replied calmly, though she felt guilty for lying to him.

"Ah, I see. Well, Young Miss, we don’t have a few parts that you need from the list. But don’t worry, we promise to send them to the usual place tomorrow," he explained.

Aurora was once again taken aback. Her suspicion grew; this man must have wanted to test her.

"It’s fine, but you don’t need to send them to the usual place. I will return here tomorrow. What time would be best for me to come?"

The old man was shocked to learn that the girl would return to collect her items, especially since he had pretended to delay her. He needed to confirm with his boss whether or not this young girl was associated with Zee.

"Very well, then. You can come by anytime to pick it up. I will ensure your item is ready," the manager said, smiling politely.

This was the only response he could provide at that moment. He was worried about turning her away because if she were indeed one of Zee’s people, he would be in serious trouble for making a mistake.

"Thank you! I’ll go now, sir. I will return tomorrow," she replied.

"Yes, Young Miss. I will see you tomorrow."

Aurora didn’t stay for long. She quickly excused herself and left the office. Once she was gone, the manager made a call.

"Boss, did you see?" he asked, looking at the hidden CCTV camera in the corner.

"I did see her. It’s interesting; why did Zee suddenly send new people without consulting me first?" a man’s voice responded from the other end.

"That’s why I’m suspicious of her," the manager expressed concern.

"I will contact Zee! But you must provide her with the items, just in case."
