Chapter 57: Blamed (1)

They arrived last in class to take the final exam. As usual, she sat with Josh and David.

Although she often heard others talking about Josh, she didn’t care much about it anymore and chose to ignore the chatter.

What felt strange to her was Max. His behavior towards her had changed significantly since he rejected her in the cafeteria two weeks ago. He no longer gave her cynical or cold looks; instead, he seemed curious, and occasionally, she could sense a hint of upset and jealousy in him.

Of course, she no longer bothered with Max. But she still had to deal with his fangirls, who continued to blame her because Max had refused them all.

These heartbroken girls dared to blame her, claiming that Max was traumatized because she had consistently pursued him, even stalked him.

How could they hold her responsible for something so foolish?

Aurora wanted to teach them all a lesson, but then she remembered that she wouldn’t return here anymore.

Dealing with young adults like them was just a waste of time, particularly with such a gift she has, a rebirth.

However, something unexpected happened, she didn’t foresee in the cafeteria after their exam finished.

As Aurora enjoyed her final lunch in the cafeteria with Josh and David, a few people suddenly approached their table. Their expressions made it clear they were not there for a friendly chat.

"David, do you know them?" Aurora asked, glancing at David, who was sitting across from her.

"Who?" David asked, turning around. He was surprised to see three women and one man heading towards them, their gazes filled with malicious intent.

David’s relaxed demeanor quickly turned serious as he recognized them. He turned to Aurora and said, "Don’t worry; they won’t hurt you..."

Hearing David’s sentence triggered Josh’s protective instincts. His gaze sharpened, and he became alert to the potential threat facing his lady boss.

Just before Josh stood up to defend her, he noticed Aurora shaking her head to signal him to stop. Although he didn’t like her refusal, he respected her wishes and remained on standby in silence.

One of the women with black pixie hair shouted in annoyance, "YO! AURORA SPENCER!"

David rose from his seat.

"What the heck are you doing here, Beatrix?" He felt confused when he saw Beatrix and her friends in the faculty cafeteria, as they belonged to different faculties.

His annoyance grew when he saw Beatrix ignoring him. She didn’t even glance at him briefly; instead, she looked at Aurora as if she had just encountered her mortal enemy.

"What the hell is wrong with her? How dare she ignore me?" Before David could voice his frustration, Beatrix abruptly halted just two steps from Aurora, leaving him stunned.

"You wretched person, Aurora Spencer! How could you cause such deep trauma to Max? Who do you think you are? You’re merely a poor girl from the village..."

Beatrix’s hatred was apparent in her piercing gaze, shocking Aurora and everyone around them.

David and Josh were utterly shocked to hear that. Before they could react, Beatrix’s following sentence stunned them once more.

"If it weren’t for your brain, other men wouldn’t notice you with a mediocre face like that! You know that, right?" Her icy tone was enough to make Josh want to rip her mouth off.

’What the hell did that little brat just say? Does she think Lady Boss’s beauty is mediocre? So what does that make her? Soul-crushingly ugly?’ Josh couldn’t believe what he had just heard.

When Josh looked over to see if Aurora was angry or upset about someone cursing her like that, he was stunned to find her remarkably calm. A frown slowly began to form on his forehead. Without anyone noticing, he hurried over to Aurora. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Aurora lazily played with the glass in her hand, completely ignoring Beatrix’s words. She felt too exhausted to engage with this foolish young girl and didn’t want to waste her time talking to someone she considered brainless.

’Geez, how could she accuse me like that?’ Aurora laughs inwardly while continuing to toy with the glass.

"Bitch! Why are you ignoring me? Are you trying to upset me?" Beatrix shouted, clearly annoyed by Aurora’s lack of response.

"Beatrix, are you not upset yet?" David asked, breaking the silence.

Beatrix glanced annoyed at David, but David simply smiled and continued, "If you say you’re not angry, why does your face look so red, as if all the blood is rushing to your skin?"

He amusingly held his laugh. It was fun to tease Beatrix.

"David, you..."

"What?" he replied playfully, keeping his smile as Beatrix pointed a finger at him, yet no words came out.

Aurora smiled softly as she placed the empty glass on the table, hearing David and Beatrix throw their frustrations at each other.

She lifted her head slightly to look at Beatrix. She found it amusing that Beatrix’s expression was stormy, like a hurricane raging inside her.

"Are you done talking?" Aurora asked calmly. No anger or annoyance flickered in her gaze, which surprised Beatrix and her friends behind her.

"Aurora, you are so daring, huh?" Beatrix still couldn’t believe what she was witnessing. The girl in front of her completely ignored her intensity. "Are you trying to challenge me? Do you know who I am?"

Aurora shook her head as if to say she never knew or even met Beatrix.

Having cared for Alexander Graystone for most of her life, she hadn’t paid much attention to other influential people in the country.

She innocently asked, "Are you a movie star? A singer? Seriously, who are you?"

"Pft..." David muffled a laugh at Aurora’s words. Not only him but all of Beatrix’s friends were left speechless, unable to believe what they witnessed.

"What the hell, Aurora Spencer?" Beatrix’s male friend interjected. "How dare you speak to Beat..." His voice faltered as he sensed his head was about to split. He screamed in agony while staring at Josh standing behind him.

"What the hell? Why did you slap me...?" His anger trailed off as he met Josh’s intense gaze; it felt like this man had taken his soul. He stepped back and tried to stand beside Beatrix.

"What happened?" Beatrix asked, looking at her friend in confusion.

"Betty, that man—he slapped me!"
