Rebirth: Contract Husband Falls in Love with Me-Chapter 510 - 261: Unexpected Encounter
In the following several days, Shi Fengju was indeed busy, leaving early and returning late. Fortunately, the scenery here was serene, and Sang Wan spent her days leisurely admiring the scenery with Liu Ya and occasionally visiting the city in the company of the housekeeper’s wife, making her days far from lonely.
The prosperity and wealth of Hangzhou were incomparable to Qingzhou; without seeing it for oneself, it was hard to imagine. Both Sang Wan and Liu Ya couldn’t help but express their admiration.
One afternoon, Sang Wan, along with Liu Ya, villa housekeeper Mrs. Qin and two young maids, went out to admire the lotuses. The vibrant green lotus leaves stretched towards the sky, with large blooms of pink and white lotuses gently swaying amongst them, a sight pleasing to the eyes.
Sang Wan, wearing a veil hat, strolled casually along a lakeside path paved with bluestone and fringed with drooping willows and peach blossoms, alongside Liu Ya and Mrs. Qin, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the lake and the refreshing scent of lotuses brought by the breeze.
"Elder Sister Sang Wan, you must be tired after walking for so long, let’s sit down and have some tea!" Mrs. Qin suggested with a smile upon seeing some clean stone tables and benches nearby.
With the view open and serene, Sang Wan didn’t mind taking a break and smiled, nodding in agreement.
The two maids hurriedly opened the bundles they carried, laid out brocade cushions, and one of them took a teapot and several small, intricately made pastries from the food box, carefully arranging them on a stone table covered with a willow-yellow embroidered tablecloth. Liu Ya, holding an ivory-handled round fan, gently fanned her from behind. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Sang Wan laughed and said, "You all must be tired too, find a place to sit and rest!" She then smiled at Liu Ya: "It’s cool under the shade here, and there’s a breeze from the lake, save some energy! I know you like to wander; feel free to look around nearby, but don’t go too far!"
Liu Ya responded cheerily and laughed, "This slave will check if I can reach those lotuses and pick a couple for Elder Sister Sang Wan!" saying this, she closed her fan and darted off.
The two maids apologized and sat down beside a tree stump on the grass, while Mrs. Qin stood next to Sang Wan, keeping her company and sharing laughs.
Sang Wan, finding the veil hat cumbersome, gently lifted a corner from in front of her face, sweeping it back, thus broadening her field of view.
Suddenly, giggling laughter from women, bold and unrestrained, came from the path, drawing Sang Wan’s attention.
She saw a young woman with a slender waist, dressed in a cherry red embroidered outer coat and an ivory embroidered long skirt, her hair styled in double looped braids, walking by. She was talking and laughing intermittently with a man beside her clad in an off-white round collar gown. Following behind them was a maid in an ice-blue long vest and white silk long skirt, holding a food box in hand.
The two were chatting nonstop, their steps light and spirits high, appearing very intimate and joyful.
Mrs. Qin noted that woman’s frivolous demeanor, her eyes darting around too lively, clearly someone from a place of ill-repute, and her brows unconsciously furrowed.
Sang Wan also realized that the woman did not behave like a lady from a reputable family, and with just a quick glance, she turned away, picking up the tea cup in front of her to slowly savor her tea.
Not far away, another stone table was occupied by the red-clad woman who exclaimed in a sweet voice, "Oh my, I’m so tired from walking the whole day, let’s rest too!" and she pulled the man to sit down, not far from where Sang Wan was.
The man smiled and agreed with a "Sure" and sat down.
The woman then ordered the maid to pour tea. The maid quickly set down the food box, took out the tea, and meticulously served it to her, saying, "Miss!"
The red-clad woman took a sip of the tea but frowned, spitting it back out onto the ground and wiping her mouth with a handkerchief, glaring at the maid, "The tea’s gone cold, how can I drink this!"
The little maid dared not speak up, while the man hurriedly said with a laugh, "There’s a teahouse not far ahead; just bear with it for now!"
Unhappy, the red-clad woman pouted and whined, "But I’m thirsty and can’t walk anymore!" She glanced over towards Sang Wan, noticing her demeanor and Mrs. Qin standing strictly behind her, and scoffed disdainfully before suddenly giggling and leaning in to whisper something to the man.
The man frowned, clearly reluctant, and whispered back, "Qing’er, don’t cause trouble!"
The red-clad woman retorted petulantly, her face slightly falling, pouting with her lush cherry-red lips, "How is this causing trouble? Who doesn’t encounter inconveniences when out? It’s just borrowing something, what’s the big deal? Go on, hurry!"
"Troublemaker!" The man grew impatient, brushing off his sleeve, refusing to comply.
The woman then became truly angry, turning away to say, "You don’t care about me, you don’t love me anymore! At first, you sweet-talked me into leaving everything behind to follow you, and now just two years later, you’ve stopped caring! You won’t even do this small thing for me, and still talk about loving me and spending a lifetime together, I don’t believe it! Don’t try to placate me with sweet nothings anymore, I won’t fall for it again!"
