Chapter 51 -51: The Apex of Intelligence
After she had finished her homework, she quickly made herself a cup of Spiritual Spring Water. As soon as she drank the Spiritual Spring Water, all her fatigue was instantly alleviated, and she felt re-energized.
But even though it was past ten o’clock, there was still noise coming from downstairs, so she gathered her backpack and followed the sound downstairs, only to find the Fan siblings quietly arguing. These two really picked a fight every time they met, not wanting to waste a single moment.
However, this time the content of their quarrel seemed different; it wasn’t those pointless arguments anymore, but a targeted dispute.

She approached the couch and quietly asked, “What are you talking about? What’s this about not being allowed to go?”
Tianhua glanced at Tianyu and then said, “It’s your Brother Tianyu who insists on starting a business venture with some people, but I don’t think it’s reliable. You haven’t seen those guys, they don’t look like entrepreneur material; if he goes, he’ll definitely be swindled.”
“It’s still about that, huh? Brother Tianyu, I may not have met these people, but if Sister Tianhua is so against it, there must be a problem. You should really think this over more.”
“Zhenzhen, you know about this too?” Tianhua asked knowingly.
Mengzhen nodded, “Yes, Brother Tianyu receives calls from these people every day, even Chenchen knows about it. But starting a business is not done this way, Brother Tianyu. You can start a business at any time; opportunities aren’t just once. Let’s wait and see, we can talk about it next time.”
Tianyu felt irritated. Everyone around him kept saying this was unreliable, yet they knew nothing about it. How could they be so sure they were right? “Zhenzhen, you’re still young, you don’t understand these things.”
But Mengzhen didn’t see it that way. Having been reborn, she actually knew more, which is why she tried her best to persuade Tianyu not to get involved in this startup. Yet, she hadn’t been idle during the last week; even without her foreknowledge, she felt there was something fishy about this venture. It was just that Tianyu was too deeply involved to see clearly.
“Brother Tianyu, that’s not correct. I’m in my senior year of high school, and the intelligence I have now will be at its peak in my lifetime. It has nothing to do with age. I think it’s unreliable because I truly believe it is, not because I want to limit you,” Mengzhen added, “While it’s true that entrepreneurial opportunities wait for no one, the validity of the opportunity matters too. So many people say it’s unreliable. Brother Tianyu, honestly, be clear before you proceed.”
“I just got several calls again. They’re signing the contract tomorrow; if I don’t go, it’ll all be over.” It was the first business venture in his life and to let it go like this seemed like such a waste. Everyone had felt there was great potential during the initial discussions, and a bright future seemed to be just in front of him; letting go was something he just couldn’t do.
“So the contract’s being signed tomorrow? Then Brother Tianyu, I won’t persuade you anymore. But as a man, your word must count. You already have no time tomorrow, as you’ve promised to take us three out to play. How can you leave us home alone because you have to sign a contract?” Mengzhen said with feigned arrogance.
“Isn’t it necessary to prioritize what’s more important? Isn’t work a more important matter? I believe you can understand that,” Tianyu hastily explained. He didn’t want to be seen as unreliable by Mengzhen; how would he get by in the future otherwise?
Mengzhen shook her head, “I don’t understand, and why should I? All I know is that you should do what you said. You’re our big brother, and you should set an example. You said you would take us out, so tomorrow you should take us out to play. What’s signing a contract compared to that?” Mengzhen argued unreasonably. Tianyu had never encountered such an attitude before and was momentarily at a loss for words.
After a long while, he managed to respond with a wry smile, “Zhenzhen, when did you become so unreasonable?”
“Brother Tianyu, you’re not getting any younger. How can you be so naive to believe you could reason with a woman?” Mengzhen retorted.
As soon as Mengzhen said this, Tianhua couldn’t help but burst into laughter, while Tianyu’s mouth twitched. A 17-year-old child daring to call herself a woman.
But regardless, tomorrow was the day of the contract signing, and whether by throwing a tantrum or being unreasonable, Mengzhen had no intention of letting Tianyu leave. “Alright, I’ve just finished my homework and I’m hungry. Do you guys want some late-night snacks?”
“Yes.”
The siblings quickly agreed in unison, decisively putting aside their worries for the moment. If they didn’t eat the late-night snacks now, they soon wouldn’t have the chance.
They agreed readily, and Mengzhen went to the kitchen to make some simple but delicious food.
After finishing the late-night snacks, everyone went back to their rooms. Tianyu tossed and turned all night, unable to decide whether he should go or not.
The next day, after breakfast, Tianyu seemed to finally make up his mind, and then they all left the house together.
The Mall opened late, and they arrived just in time. However, during the short journey, Tianyu’s phone was bombarded with calls; one after another, even he started to get annoyed. He had already said he wouldn’t go, so why keep calling him?
After they settled Mengchen in the children’s playground, Tianyu finally answered another persistent call.
“Hello?”
“Bro, you really not coming? This is a one-time opportunity: miss it and it’s gone. There’s a fortune-making business here, and without you, it just doesn’t feel right.”
Tianyu was also getting frustrated, “I really can’t leave right now. My sister and brother are playing in the Mall; I can’t just leave two kids in the Mall, can I?”
Hearing Tianyu’s response, both Tianhua and Mengzhen were satisfied, at least he showed some sense of responsibility.
But the person on the other end of the call scoffed, “How old are you to be babysitting? Think about it, what’s more important, taking care of kids or making money? If you earn money, you can hire a Nanny to take care of them. Why do you need to babysit yourself? Brother, think carefully.”
The temptation was not small, but since they were already at the Mall, Tianyu would not just leave the Mei siblings there. So he said, “Bro, I’m sorry, I can’t make it this time. Next time for sure, no excuses.”
After that, he hung up and switched off his phone.
Since today was the contract signing day, and he wouldn’t be participating, was there any reason to keep his phone on? Plus, it was fine to switch it off; if his family needed to contact him, they could call Tianhua or Mengzhen.
Tianyu was determined not to think about the startup anymore; he took off his shoes and went straight into the children’s playground to find Mengchen.
Tianhua and Mengzhen exchanged smiles as they watched Tianyu play with Mengchen. Tianhua said, “Zhenzhen, why do you also think this startup is unreliable?”
She was quite curious to hear the analysis of her high school senior cousin, especially since, as Mengzhen had said, she was at the peak of her intellectual powers.
