Chapter 359 - XinYun was even nicer to Kuaikuai after the incident. (1)

The other students were dumbfounded. Li XinYun’s words were loaded.

She was blatantly suggesting that Zhang Meixia’s cookies were problematic. What was going on?

Li XinYun said slowly. “You gave me the same kind of cookies yesterday for my birthday and I was going to eat them this morning.

As it turned out, it had been sitting there for so long that my pet ate them when I wasn’t looking and it fell ill immediately.

“So my mother sent the cookies to the laboratory to have them checked out.”

She told everyone what she had found out while looking straight at Zhang Meixia. “Do tell, why did you send this to me?

“Do you hate me that much?”

All the other students were dumbfounded. Was Li XinYun telling the truth?

“Are you sure there wasn’t some kind of misunderstanding?” That was their immediate reaction as they turned and looked at Zhang Meixia.

Being stared at by the others, Zhang Meixia broke out in cold sweat and stuttered, “I, I don’t know what you are talking about.”

The cops exchanged a look and one of them walked up to take the bag from her. They had thought previously that at most the drugs were hidden inside the bag. They didn’t think it could be baked directly into the cookies.

Zhang Meixia screamed, “Don’t touch my cookies!”

Her strong reaction gave her away.

A female cop stepped up and said, “Comrade, do not obstruct us in doing our job.”

Zhang Meixia’s eyes rolled and her face was filled with fear.

As reluctantly as she was, the cookies that she made were still taken away from her for analysis.

Her knees buckled. Falling down onto her knees, tears rolled down her cheeks and she whimpered.

Unfortunately, she had gotten her zero compassion from anyone around.

They were all angry thinking back how easily they would have eaten the cookies.

From what Li XinYun was saying, Zhang Meixia even gave some to Li XinYun as a birthday present. How evil was that?

Cheng Yan, one of the female students, was enraged.

“Why did you do that? Isn’t XinYun a good friend of yours? What kind of a friend are you?”

Zhang Meixia knew that there was no point in denying it at this point.

The cookies were taken away from her. It was a matter of time before the laboratory result came back. “I didn’t really think that much……”

All the other cops looked at her with complicated looks. She was so young and already so evil, trying to get her friends to do drugs in such a manner.

“I’m sorry. Really sorry. But I had no other options.”

Li XinYun couldn’t listen to her anymore. She took a step up and slapped her across her cheek.

She gritted her teeth and said, “Exactly what had I done to you that you had to get back at me in such a way?”

Zhang Meixia grabbed her hand reflexively but Li XinYun flung it off.

She looked at her coldly and said, “This is not over.”

“Listen to me, XinYun. I, I didn’t have any other choices.”

Burying her face in her palms, Zhang Meixia started telling her side of the story while choking back her tears.

Zhang Meixia became a fan of an internet influencer a while ago and would donate money to him every day.

Every time the influencer thanked her in his sweet voice, she would feel like she was in love. The weightless feeling reeled her in and she donated more and more money to him.

She was spending her pocket money at the beginning but, when those were gone, she went and took out loans.

The amount went up as did the interest. By the time she realized what she was doing, she could no longer afford to pay them back.

She dared not tell her parents, worried that they would give her a beating. She even went to get a job at a club secretly, much like Zhong Yi had in the past. Unfortunately, what she made there could barely cover the interest and she had no idea how she would ever be able to repay the principal. That was when someone reached out to her.

They told her that as long as she could get Li XinYun, they would pay off both the principal and the interest for her and give her another lump sum of money on top of that.

Zhang Meixia struggled with that decision for a while but the person expressed that with XinYun’s family, they could easily take care of this.

That had convinced Zhang Meixia to take action. She knew that XinYun always liked the cookies that she made so she took XinYun’s birthday as her opportunity to move forward with her plan.
