Rebirth: Pampered by My Children and Husband-Chapter 87 - : Mom Came Back
Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Mom Came Back
The two fiercely tangled together, and the violent sounds of fighting echoed in the study as their fists smashed sharply against each other, seemingly venting years of dissatisfaction.
Vases and cups slid off the table one after another, shattering sounds accompanying the punching, with porcelain shards flying everywhere.
The noise was so loud it could be heard throughout the entire villa.
Lin Xu, with the help of the butler, limped to the study and, upon seeing the two fighting, was so frightened that her heart skipped a beat, her voice trembling, “Stop fighting, stop it all!”
She stepped forward to intervene, forgetting entirely about the injury on her foot in her panic, causing a tearing pain in her ankle.
“Hiss.”
Lin Xu bent over in pain.
This moan was more effective than any attempts to stop the fight; the brothers fighting immediately stopped, their faces tense.
“Did you hit your wound? Why aren’t you in the wheelchair?”
“What happened to you? Where are you hurt?”
Their concerned voices rose simultaneously beside her.
Just as Ji Zeqiu thought Lin Xu had stepped on the porcelain shards on the floor and was about to check on her, Ji Tingyang had already picked her up and hurried away.
He hesitated for a moment, then quickly followed.
Ji Tingyang set her down on the sofa and lifted her ankle to check it, not relaxing until he confirmed that the swelling hadn’t worsened.
“The doctor told you not to walk,” Ji Tingyang fretted, talking incessantly in his anxiety, more naggy than Lin Xu ever was, “You could have had the butler push you or if you needed to go upstairs, call me to carry you, I…”
A pair of delicate white hands suddenly cupped his cheeks, looking into his eyes that were equally urgent and worried.
Ji Tingyang’s voice trailed off abruptly, letting her gaze at him.
Lin Xu studied his face, her furrowed brows expressing deep concern, “Your corner of the mouth is bleeding—does it hurt? I just asked you to check on Zeqiu, how did it turn into a fight?”
She took the ointment the butler handed her and gently applied it to his split lip.
The ointment touching the wound spread a dense pain from the corner of the mouth, eliciting a grunt from Ji Tingyang, which made Lin Xu even more anxious, “Does it hurt? I’ll be gentler.”
“It’s okay,” Ji Tingyang sneaked a glance at her, his eyes finding only her concern for him, secretly pleased, a barely perceptible smile tugging at his lips before he suppressed it quickly.
Standing not far away, Ji Zeqiu felt helpless, unaware that his mother’s ankle was injured.
Seeing Lin Xu urgently applying medicine to Ji Tingyang provoked a sour feeling in his chest, stirring uncomfortably in his stomach.
He was hurt too; why did his mother only care for Ji Tingyang?
Did she not like him, her own son?
Ji Zeqiu watched them blankly, his eyes stinging as he felt the pain in his cheek worsen, spreading pain throughout his body.
His chest also felt terribly uncomfortable.
He averted his gaze, no longer wanting to see their interaction.
Several times, he parted his lips to say he was leaving, but his throat was raw and painful, and he couldn’t utter a word.
“What are you daydreaming about?”
“Why are you just standing there? Come here.”
“Ji Zeqiu!”
Calls in quick succession brought Ji Zeqiu back to reality.
He looked dully at Lin Xu, who was waving him over. After confirming several times in his uneasy mind that she was indeed calling him, he hurried over and sat down.
Lin Xu reached out, similarly cradling his cheeks, inspecting the bruised wounds on his face.

She lightly touched one of his wounds, her expression both pained and angry, “Your face is swollen; it must hurt a lot. Do you brothers have a grudge or something, hitting each other so hard? Are you trying to kill me?”
Ji Zeqiu’s eyes flickered guiltily as he and Ji Tingyang maintained a tacit silence.
Lin Xu picked up the ointment and started applying it to him.
Her fingertips glided over his wounds, bringing out stings of pain, but more so, joy.
Ji Zeqiu stared at her as if he was afraid she would disappear from in front of his eyes.
Watching her rush about for him, watching her brow furrow with worry for him, the stifling emotions in his chest slowly gave way to happiness.
His mother did care about him; she loved him too…
Ji Zeqiu’s eyes curved, and his mouth couldn’t help but lift into a smile.
“You got hit, why are you still foolishly smiling?” Lin Xu scolded him, smacked his head, then sighed, “Such a handsome face, what a pity it is to get hurt.”
Ji Zeqiu tensed suddenly.
He remembered his mother really liked handsome guys.
Now that his face was injured and had become ugly, would his mother dislike him?
In just a few minutes, he had felt loss and gain several times.
“I, I will heal this wound,” Ji Zeqiu hurriedly and dryly assured her.
So don’t dislike him…
“So, how long will you need to heal, you still have to shoot in the next few days, what about the wound on your face?” Lin Xu said.
Ji Zeqiu choked.
He had completely forgotten about this.
Lin Xu then turned to Ji Tingyang and scolded him, “You too, you know the faces of artists are important, yet you still hit the face.”
“He started it,” Ji Tingyang darted a glance at Ji Zeqiu, “And my face is equally important, visible to hundreds of people in the company.”
“Hundreds of people aren’t even a fraction of my fans, what importance do they have.”
“I don’t mind taking a photo of you right now to show your important fans,” Ji Tingyang retorted.
“You!”
“Both of you shut up, no fighting!” Lin Xu roared, glaring at the two of them.
Both immediately closed their mouths.
Due to the injury on his cheek, Ji Zeqiu was scolded for several hours by his agent, and eventually, under immense pressure, continued to ask for leave from the director.
Ji Zeqiu hung up the phone, leaned back, and sank deep into the soft sofa.
His eyes stared vacantly at the room he hadn’t returned to for years, his mind long wandering elsewhere.
At that moment,
Several rhythmic knocks came from outside the quiet room.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me, I have something I want to talk to you about.”
As soon as Lin Xu’s voice rang out, Ji Zeqiu’s body sprang up, and he immediately ran to open the door.
Lin Xu wheeled herself in, looked at Ji Zeqiu for a moment, then hesitated.
“What is it?” he asked.
“I heard from Ji Tingyang,” Lin Xu pursed her lips, a trace of apology appearing on her face, “I’m sorry, I should have been more adamant in telling you that I was still alive.”
“But it’s not too late now, we still have so much time to spend together, right?” Lin Xu smiled lightly, pulled his hand, brought his rigid body down, and embraced him, “Zeqiu, Mom is back.”
Ji Zeqiu’s throat moved subtly as the emotions he had been desperately suppressing all day suddenly burst through, wildly surging from his chest.
His vision was already blurry, and tears uncontrollably fell onto her shoulder.
