Rebirth: Pampered Wife’s Counterattack-Chapter 807 - Building Shelter (Part 2)
Chapter 807: Building Shelter (Part 2)
He could not help emitting a small smirk as his sharp gaze became heated.
His hungry look left Fang Xinxin feeling especially bashful.
She wasn’t sure if her cheeks had turned red from the way he was watching her, or due to the burning sun…
The sunlight was becoming especially hot. However, there weren’t any big trees nearby and they could not escape from it.
She really hoped the shelter would be completed sooner.
She picked up the shirt he had tossed onto the ground and headed back into the forest.
She wrapped the grass roots she had dug out earlier with his shirt and returned to his side. She poured them out onto the ground. “Hubby, eat some grass roots.”
He nodded slightly. “I’ll eat after I’m done with this.”
Fang Xinxin held his shirt and went to the nearby beach. She confirmed that there weren’t any more shellfish like the ones Bai Qinghao previously collected.
Although there were some other colorful shellfish, she did not recognise them and naturally would not take them.
They were only left with a few fever reducing medicine and wound dressing medication. If they ate anything poisonous by accident, they would most definitely die.
She deliberated over it and decided to attempt fishing by the beach.
Unfortunately, she did not see a single fish in the water.
She stood on the beach and looked afar. Suddenly, she saw that there was a half submerged rock mountain around a kilometer away.
Perhaps there would be some fish there?
Fang Xinxin decided to walk there. She left faint footprints on the beach as she approached the rock mountain. As expected, there were a few average sized fishes swimming there.
However, she did not have a net and could not fish them out.
She stepped into the water. When the water came up to her knees, she bent down and began flipping over the rocks in the sand.
After flipping through more than ten rocks, she discovered a large sea crab!
It had to weigh at least three hundred grams.
She immediately used her thumbs and middle fingers to pinch the sides of its shell to prevent its pincer from cutting her.
She took it out of water and wrapped it firmly in Bai Qinghao’s shirt.
She then bent down and continued searching. Soon, she had collected ten more sea crabs of similar sizes.
She lifted her chin and saw that the sun rays were becoming even more lethal. For the sake of survival, she had given up all concerns about getting tanned. However, she was still worried about getting a heatstroke.
Besides, she had already collected enough for one meal.
There were plenty of crabs and little fish here. She would visit again to collect more food in the future.
She carried the crabs back to Bai Qinghao. “Hubby, look what I’ve found!”
She opened the bundle of cloth to show him.
When he saw the crabs, he immediately praised her. “My wife is too capable.” But he frowned the next second. “Don’t do these things anymore. Leave them to me.”
“It’s fine. I had nothing to do anyway.” She saw that he had already built the foundation for the shed with four pillars. Two sides of the walls were filled in and the tops of the pillars were strengthened to eventually hold up the roof.
On the ground laid a rooftop made out of tree branches, weaved with leaves and grass. It was around two square meters wide and three square meters long.
Bai Qinghao lifted the entire roof by himself and stood on a large rock to hoist it onto the pillars he had built.
Fang Xinxin was amazed by his efficiency. It had only been half a day and he had actually built a shed that would provide them shelter from wind and rain.
This was extremely difficult to do without a knife or any tools. He had relied entirely on his hands to tie these branches, leaves and vines together.
She approached his side and tugged open his hands. She saw that his wide and firm palms were covered with blisters. There were countless small cuts on his skin. His body was also stained from sweat and dirt.
Her gaze was filled with heartache. However, there was nothing she could have done to prevent this..
