Chapter 25 - Shameless

Rosaline was perplexed with anxiety. She nervously glanced at her mother, struggling to think of the right words.

Moments later, the maid arrived with the dress — the hideous, gaudy thing that Rosaline had so carefully selected to humiliate Jazmine.

Bright orange with oversized frills and glittering rhinestones — a walking disaster of fabric.

Amelia bit back a smile. She had been furious when she saw that monstrosity earlier — but Jazmine had stopped her, promising she had a better plan.

And clearly... her plan had worked.

Rosaline and Scarlette could only sit in awkward silence as murmurs filled the room.

"So that's what she wanted her to wear?"

"How cruel..."

"What a disgrace. Thank God Jazmine had another dress."

Jazmine stood silently to the side, her gentle smile never wavering as the whispers of praise turned her way once again.

Amelia caught her eye from across the room and smirked.

Game, set, match.

Sabrina Voss was momentarily stunned. But being a professional host, she quickly masked her surprise. Meanwhile, the guests whispered among themselves, their eyes flicking toward Rosaline in confusion.

If Rosaline had such a remarkable sense of fashion, why would she choose that dress? Or... was she deliberately trying to embarrass her sister?

Rosaline's face burned with humiliation.

"The dress is indeed very..." Sabrina paused, carefully selecting her words. "...striking." Her voice remained neutral, but her eyes betrayed her amusement. Sabrina wasn't blind — she could see this was Jazmine Harrison's calculated move to expose her sister.

'Smart,' Sabrina thought. 'I like her.'

"I selected this color because my elder sister told me she fancied bright colors," Rosaline quickly explained, forcing a smile. "I would've never chosen it myself, but knowing my sister's taste, I worried she'd reject the dress if I picked something different."

Shameless.

"Who is she fooling? Any dress would be better than that hideous thing."

"It's clear she deliberately chose that to make her sister look bad."

Jazmine's face shifted to one of confusion — soft, innocent, and perfectly calculated.

"Sister Rosaline, wasn't it you who told me that bright colors suited me best?" Jazmine's voice carried a hint of hurt. "And why are you saying this now? I never once rejected the dresses you've chosen for me. I've always trusted your judgment — after all, I've admired your remarkable fashion sense since we were kids."

Her voice trembled, her eyes shimmering with warmth. "I may not have your gift for style, but I know how lucky I am to have a sister like you."

The guests' murmurs grew louder.

So Rosaline had been sabotaging Jazmine's outfits all along?

One sister adored and trusted her sibling — the other one betrayed her out of jealousy.

The disgust was impossible to hide.

"Enough talk about fashion," Scarlette Whites interjected hastily, sensing the shift in the crowd. Her gaze flicked toward Jazmine — sharp and resentful. "Let's move on to the next activity. What was it again? Oh yes, the quizzes!"

The family gathered around the couches while Sabrina Voss brought out her quiz booklet. Her eyes gleamed with mischief.

'Let's see how you handle this, Jazmine,' Sabrina thought. She had personally hired top scholars from various fields to craft these questions.

"You've impressed everyone with your dress," Sabrina announced, "but let's see how you handle this challenge!"

Sabrina was passionate about her work — she loved pushing her guests to their limits. Few had ever impressed her, but Jazmine intrigued her.

"Jazmine and Rosaline, you'll both participate. You can each choose a partner."

Rosaline selected a well-read family member, known for her extensive knowledge of books.

Jazmine? She simply chose Amelia.

"Rules are simple," Sabrina explained. "I'll ask 50 general knowledge questions. Correct answers gain you a point. Wrong answers? You lose a point. The one with the most points wins and gets to choose the next activity."

Being from the future had certain advantages.

Every time Sabrina asked a question, Jazmine answered before Rosaline or her proud partner could speak.

Sabrina was stunned.

In her last life, Jazmine had been humiliated during this quiz. She had barely managed to answer 13 questions, even failing ones related to her own major. Meanwhile, Rosaline had confidently scored 28 points.

Clips of her embarrassing performance had gone viral. Social media had laughed at her for weeks — memes, comments, and jokes had spread like wildfire.

Jazmine never found out exactly who had engineered that disaster... but she knew Rosaline had been involved.

This time?

Jazmine confidently answered 36 questions.

Amelia nailed another 10 — entertainment-related questions she was familiar with.

Meanwhile, Rosaline and her companion managed to answer only three.

Out of those, Rosaline had only answered one herself.

By the end, Rosaline's face was pale, her smile brittle. Her nails dug so hard into her palms that her knuckles turned white.

"Didn't Scarlette Whites always boast about her daughter's love for reading?"

"I remember her claiming Rosaline was the smartest girl in her class..."

"She even humiliated my daughter once for forgetting an idiom!"

"Humph! She must've been bluffing all along. Rosaline only answered one question! Even a child could manage five!"

"But Jazmine... she's incredible! Intelligent, calm, and so big-hearted to still love her sister despite everything..."

Admiration filled the room. Guests who had originally been drawn here to flatter Rosaline couldn't stop staring at Jazmine with newfound respect.

"Who are you?" Amelia gasped dramatically. "And what have you done with my dullard of a bestie?"

Jazmine smirked. "I'm Einstein," she whispered. "I reincarnated in this body after Jazmine Harrison tragically died listening to your endless bickering."

Amelia gasped, feigning betrayal. "How dare you!"

Before she could respond, Sabrina Voss stepped in.

"Since you won," Sabrina said, her professional tone cracking with admiration, "you get to choose the next task."

"In my career," Sabrina added, "I've never had anyone answer 36 questions correctly."

"Sister Sabrina," Jazmine laughed lightly, "your questions were easy."

Sabrina froze.

'Easy? EASY?!'Tell that to the countless celebrities who barely managed 15 points!

"And," Amelia chimed in slyly, "I bet never in your career have you had someone score just one point." She glanced smugly at Rosaline. "Don't take it to heart, sister Rosaline. I'm sure you'd have answered more if Jazmine hadn't stolen the questions so quickly."

Was this meant to console her... or rub salt in her wounds?

Rosaline's smile barely held together. Her jaw clenched, her face burning with humiliation.

"All right," Jazmine spoke up, "for the next task, I choose... a piano duet."

Excited murmurs spread through the room.

Rosaline's fake smile shifted into something real — her eyes gleamed with excitement.

'Perfect,' she thought.

Her mood lifted. Her eyes — still red from embarrassment — brightened with hope.

Was her sister stupid? Didn't she remember that Jazmine couldn't play the piano?

Rosaline's mind flashed back to that disastrous evening years ago — when Jazmine had embarrassed herself miserably at a formal event by attempting to play the piano. Their father had been so enraged that he'd locked her in her room for three days.

'This time... this time, I'll win.']
