Chapter 727: Chapter 439: A Big Drunk_2
Yang Sheng, who came later, shouted, "You can really hold your liquor!"
Jiang Ning had joined in the drinking earlier, and he seemed unfazed, as if nothing had happened.
"Not bad," Jiang Ning said.
Xue Yuantong followed behind him, wanting to advise him to drink less. Alcohol wasn’t good for your health, as one could tell by looking at Dong Qingfeng and the others.
But outside, Xue Yuantong held back, planning to talk Jiang Ning out of it back at the hotel.
"Okay, how about we try it next time?" Yang Sheng raised her fist, pretending to bump it with Jiang Ning’s.
She remembered halfway through her swing that Jiang Ning was busy supporting someone and thus had no free hands.
Nevertheless, Jiang Ning let go of Guo Kunnan and was able to return the gesture, to which Yang Sheng responded with a knowing smile.
After the fist bump, Guo Kunnan nearly fell to the ground, but Jiang Ning casually pulled him back up.
During this time, Guo Kunnan continued to pour out his ardent yearning for Xu Yan on his phone, with such humble words that they could move listeners to tears.
As they proceeded outside, they saw two familiar uncles, panting as they raced back.
They were none other than the Bald and Flat-headed uncles who had bet on who could run faster earlier.
The waiter, seeing them return, hurried over and asked, "Are you still eating? We haven’t cleared your table yet!"
Exhausted, they rasped, "Eat, eat, we won’t return until we’re drunk!" freewёbnoνel.com
...
Night, 10 p.m.
After leaving the barbecue restaurant and stepping outside, the night breeze felt incredibly pleasant and comfortable.
Barbecue tables were also set up in the open space outside.
Huang Zhongfei said, "We’ve eaten too much. Let’s walk around a bit before I find a car."
Those who were sober had no objections.
Yu Wen, half-asleep, leaned heavily on Jiang Yanan, but thankfully Jiang Yanan was tall enough to handle it.
After walking some distance, they passed by a square where a group of middle-aged ladies were dancing with fans. Dressed in colorful attire, swaying with the dance, they were an impressive and mesmerizing sight, with a rhythmic beat that could brainwash anyone.
Something stirred in Yu Wen’s head, and she broke free from Jiang Yanan’s grip, drifting towards the dancing group.
Jiang Yanan was bewildered, "Wenwen, come back!"
Yu Wen didn’t stop. She joined the dancing group, swaying with an anchovy-like dance that was quite flamboyant.
After finishing a dance, all the ladies applauded, marveling at her enchanting sway that captivated all onlookers.
Jiang Yanan bravely took her back.
Continuing on their way, they came across an outdoor fitness facility with a children’s slide.
Xue Yuantong’s eyes lit up:
"Jiang Ning, Jiang Ning, have you ever played on that?"
"I haven’t." During his childhood, his village only had a primary school, no kindergarten, and education started from the first grade.
Such playground equipment wasn’t available at his village school, and as he got older, he saw more but it was no longer appropriate for him to play.
Xue Yuantong, curious, approached the slide, ready to give it a try.
Jiang Ning, using his Divine Sense and Spiritual Power, swept the slide in advance to prevent Xue Yuantong from getting scratched.
Xue Yuantong had a go and was thrilled with the experience.
Guo Kunnan broke free from Jiang Ning and rushed to the slide, declaring, "I want to play too!"
He didn’t stand firm, ended up lying face-down on the slide, and tumbled to the ground.
Huang Zhongfei was so scared that he held his breath.
Xue Yuantong worried, "He’s not dead, is he?"
Huang Zhongfei checked Guo Kunnan’s breath, thankfully, he was still alive.
After this incident, Huang Zhongfei didn’t dare to wander off, worried about more trouble, and decided it was best to return early and get some honey water to sober everyone up.
"I’ve called a car, it should arrive now," Huang Zhongfei informed them.
Suddenly, Dan Kaiquan came to his senses: "I won’t take the car, I won’t take the car!"
Huang Zhongfei asked patiently, "It’s too far to walk, better to take the car."
The drunken Dan Kaiquan insisted, "I want to ride a horse, ride a horse home."
Yang Sheng scoffed, "Forget a horse, you won’t even find a pig to ride."
Just then, a lady walked by leading a pure white Samoyed dog which stuck out its tongue in a friendly manner.
Upon seeing the flash of white, Dan Kaiquan broke free from Jiang Ning.
He bent over like an unleashed wild dog and dashed toward it, "whoosh."
Dan Kaiquan, accustomed to exercising regularly, made an abrupt stop, feet drifting, as he wrapped his arms around the Samoyed and hollered:
"Class monitor, I’m taking off first. I’m riding The White Dragon Horse home!"
With a slap on the dog, "Off we go~ Off we go~"
"Go, my steed, charge!"
It scared the wits out of both the dog and its owner.
Luckily, the Samoyed had a gentle disposition and didn’t bite, otherwise, Dan would’ve been in for at least one bite.
Huang Zhongfei handed Dong Qingfeng over to Jiang Ning and hurried to apologize to the lady.
The lady was initially quite angry, her pleasant walk disrupted by the shock, and even though the young man’s actions were funny, she couldn’t help but want to say a few words.
However, upon seeing the handsome and charming Huang Zhongfei, all her words of blame got stuck in her throat.
How could she heartlessly blame such a good-looking young man?
The dog-loving lady, usually so devoted to her pet, elegantly covered her mouth: "Oh, it’s okay, it’s okay."
Huang Zhongfei’s dazzling smile was extraordinarily lethal to women: "I’m really, really sorry."
"It’s no big deal."
And with that little hiccup, the incident was over.
...
Inside a residential building, in a bright hall.
Jiang Ning dumped the two on the sofa, "This should do."
Huang Zhongfei: "Stay for a glass of honey water before you go."
"No need."
Jiang Ning looked at Dan Kaiquan and Dong Qingfeng, sprawled on the couch like dead dogs, and Guo Kunnan, still cuddling his phone and giggling to himself.
The four-bedroom, two-hall apartment housed four guys, with three of them drunk.
He shook his head speechlessly: "You’d better find someone to take care of them."
Then, Jiang Ning turned and left, pulling the door shut behind him.
Without the burden at hand, Xue Yuantong finally got the chance to get closer to him, the elevator silent, lacking the earlier bustle.
Gatherings are short, but the chill that comes after people leave lingers.
The loneliness that follows a party is common, leaving many feeling downhearted, yet Xue Yuantong was never alone with Jiang Ning by her side.
"Have some plum candy," Xue Yuantong peeled open Jiang Ning’s large hand.
The monitor had paid the bill while she discreetly took the free candy from the reception; too shy to take more, she had only three pieces.
Jiang Ning popped one into his mouth, sour.
Exiting the elevator, it was past 10 p.m., and the outside world was quiet, with only the occasional car driving by on the road.
Lights were on in a few residential buildings.
"Jiang Ning, which do you think is better, living in an apartment building or a bungalow?" Xue Yuantong was curious as she had never lived in an apartment building.
"They each have their benefits, but in terms of living, I think bungalows are better, less noise, more privacy, though bungalows are usually located more remotely, whereas apartment buildings are often in bustling urban areas."
Xue Yuantong understood. After thinking for a bit, she said, "So if I build a bungalow in the city center, would that combine their advantages?"
Jiang Ning: "You’re truly a genius."
"Hmph, of course," Xue Yuantong was pleased, although she still preferred living by the river dam.
Leaving the neighborhood and heading south, across the street was the Lu Province Science and Technology University, built on a hill with layers of buildings. As it was summer vacation, the classroom buildings were dark.
Following the road, they quickly reached the hotel, and Xue Yuantong entered Jiang Ning’s room first.
Jiang Ning showed her how to use the shower and bathtub; he had cleaned both rooms thoroughly, and they were safe to use.
Seizing the opportunity, Xue Yuantong said, "Jiang Ning, can you drink less alcohol? Drinking isn’t good for you."
She cited an example, "In our village, someone died from drinking too much at a feast. It was terrifying!"
This was true. In Jiang Ning’s village, there had been instances of people dying from overdrinking at feasts, and later, everyone at the same table, regardless of whether they urged the drinking or not, had to pay a two-thousand-yuan settlement.
After that, this method became the standard compensation in their area, and the number of people drinking heavily halved.
Seeing her earnest little face, Jiang Ning playfully teased her, "No worries, I can hold my liquor."
"No way, you mustn’t drink!" Xue Yuantong said sternly, "You’re still underage. Wait until you’re older."
Jiang Ning: "But I’m gonna drink, three more pounds tomorrow."
Xue Yuantong was so exasperated she blurted out, "You don’t take me seriously at all!"
Suddenly, Jiang Ning stared at her, silencing everything around Xue Yuantong, and said,
"I keep you in my heart."
