Rebirth: Solely Cherished by the Devoted Commander-Chapter 618 - 645: Perfect Happiness 4
The two were watching an action movie, all over the place, but Wang Dan sat there calmly, teary-eyed. She was really upset. Sun Chan sighed, everyone has their own troubles.
She patted Wang Dan's hand. Wang Dan said with a smile, "Sorry to make you laugh."
"It's nothing. I understand you. I've never suffered at the hands of my in-laws, but... I can really understand." However, in her previous life, she had suffered a lot. Thinking of her past life, Sun Chan felt a bit bitter and tears fell down.
Were it not for Wang Dan's persuasion and help, she might have ended up the same as in her past life. Originally, she had forgotten about her past life, but recently going back again, she found it hard to control her emotions.
The two left with swollen eyes.
Then they met Wang Dan's husband, who was anxiously looking at her. Upon seeing Wang Dan, he rushed up the steps in a few strides and grabbed her: "Where did you go?"
"Didn't I text you? Aren't you here too, why ask unnecessary questions?"
"Mom's heart condition is acting up; hurry up and come back with me!" After saying this, he just nodded at Sun Chan and walked away.
Sun Chan thought if she was sick, maybe she should visit, but Wang Dan stopped her: "Forget it, this old lady falls ill ten times a year, I'm used to it. You'd just be a laughing stock if you went, I'll deal with it later." Saying that, she left with her husband.
On the way, her husband was in a hurry, but Wang Dan was calm, checking her makeup with a small mirror. Her eyes were swollen. How annoying, what if her mother-in-law thought she'd given in? Better touch up her makeup! She took the powder puff and patted on some powder.
Her husband saw Wang Dan like this and was furious: "Seriously... my mom's like that, and you don't care?"
"Care about what? Every time your mom acts like she's dying, and then puts forward harsh demands. Once you agree, she's immediately fine. The last checkup showed no problems at all."
Her husband was at a loss, looking at his wife.
"You, you don't even care if you eat a hundred beans. Every time, it's the same illness, the same lines, yet every time you're fooled like a lost cause. How did I end up marrying someone as dumb as you?"
Her husband scratched his head, didn't say a word, felt a little relieved, but still worried, what if it wasn't an act?
Wang Dan and her husband went to the hospital, just about to open the door and go in, but Wang Dan stopped him. She had him look through the glass window, and there was her mother-in-law eating a banana, chatting and laughing with her father-in-law, in a very good mood.
Wang Dan smiled lightly and said, "Look at your parents, they're eating quite happily."
"Maybe she hasn't eaten..."
Wang Dan sneered, "Just wait a minute, your dad's holding a lunch box!"
Her father-in-law went over with the box, which contained many buns and dumplings, along with a sausage. Her mother-in-law ate heartily and laughed heartily with her husband from time to time.
Seeing his wife's calm demeanor, Wang Dan's husband didn't say a word anymore. His face was serious as he watched his mother eat.
"Just wait, soon as we go in there, your mom's going to fall apart," Wang Dan finally said calmly.
After a while, once they'd all finished eating lunch, Wang Dan pushed the door open and entered.
As expected, her mother-in-law's face instantly changed as she pretended to groan faintly, holding her chest, "Oh, I feel so unwell, I'm truly uncomfortable now."
"Honey, please stay strong. Stop this," her husband patted her back as if soothing a child.
Gasping weakly, her mother-in-law cried, "I've been so unlucky this lifetime, raising a son that seems to be for someone else. So unfilial, I really can't go on living."
Wang Dan's husband directly approached her and said, "It's all my fault. I'm sorry to you folks; I shouldn't have married someone like her causing you trouble."
Everyone else was stunned, turning their heads around in confusion to stare at him. Wang Dan remained silent, expression cold and reserved.
He continued, "I can't stay with Wang Dan anymore. I am divorcing her."
"Son, are you out of your mind?!"
"Haha, there's nothing wrong with me, we're getting a divorce." Wang Dan's husband turned to her, saying, "Let's head over to the civil affairs bureau in a while."
"Oh no, you two can't divorce like this…" His mother looked tense and seemed about to say something more.
But Wang Dan had known what he wanted to say before he even opened his mouth and smiled, "Worried about dividing assets? Don't worry, your son has nothing. He's going out clean."
"What are you saying?" Both exclaimed at once: "How can my son work so many years without any achievement at all but have to start with nothing out of the house?!"
"I'm the one starting with nothing, happy now?"
"What kind of witchcraft is this you've been under?!"
Her husband knelt before his mother, sobs in his throat, "Mom, your son let you down. Earlier, when in Macao, I fell into a huge gambling debt, nearly two million. Later, afraid to tell, I borrowed from loan sharks. We've mortgaged the company, and there's no money left; it's allegedly a big company, but it turned out just to be owned by others. It's my fault, I'm unworthy of your grace!"
The couple-who had been flabbergasted up till then- instantly fell into despair upon hearing their son made such dire mistakes!
"How could you have gone mad like this? Why did you do such a thing?" His mother dropped her act and ran down the bed, clinging to his arm while shrieking and sobbing uncontrollably, "What exactly do you want from life? We were living so well, why throw it away?"
"And Wang Dan too, didn't even try to talk some sense into you, did she!" questioned the father-in-law.
Wang Dan snorted, "Oh, it's all my fault, your precious son messes up, goes to Macao, gets conned for a woman into losing all that money, I suppose that's my fault too?"
"My son goes off with women because you didn't keep hold of him!"
Wang Dan chuckled, "Yeah sure, that's why we're divorcing, so you can find someone who'll rein him in. You know, there's nothing left for me to 'manage', all his money's been squandered away; rest easy now, you don't have to worry about family wealth disappearing anymore."
The in-laws were holding onto heavens crying out their grievances shouting, that their prosperity's suddenly vanished into thin air, finding their son being so stupid he'd been conned through some nasty woman's tricks, ended up gambling all that away. He's wasted so much money, it's truly mortifying!
Her husband addressed them, "After our divorce, you'll have to give up the house to pay off my debts. I'm planning to start over again, selling clothes. Don't worry, we'll live a good life again someday."
The couple was utterly devastated, realizing while they perhaps never liked her as a daughter-in-law, her diligence was vital for building up the family's wealth, how did things come to this conclusion, when Wang Dan still had network connections, and past good performances ensured she'd return the money in several years? Even if into their numerous mistakes understanding more than enough against staying in any reason not divorce.
Earlier arrogance from the family was now retracted personally asking Dan Daniel negation yet fret avoiding action belief her reasoning wrenched deeply they went inward depend solely forgiveness.
"We can't talk about divorcing so impulsively. You're a grandma-to-be, you shouldn't bring up divorce lightly. You really should think twice before doing this," they pleaded anxiously.
Wang Dan scoffed, turned away, and walked calmly out the door.
From then on, the adoration and flair disappeared, along with boasting back at the old village vanished, everybody turned away knowing about Daniel's and turning fortunes upside down, contacts were slowly severed.
Sun Chan got wind of this news, admired the mastery of Wang Dan in handling affairs as usual.
On the day Wang Dan's son married, Sun Chan with Gu Junming, Guihua with their son, Yang Liu Fu coupled with Yang Zhen, and Zheng Lijuan with her husband were present, all middle-aged, some grandparents already, yet filled with energy. Their lives were filled with genuine zest.
Sun Chan and Gu Junming clinked glasses, smiling warmly to each other, feeling endless happiness flowing between their gazes. In this life, Sun Chan truly felt bliss.
