Rebirth: The Universe's Hidden Heiress-Chapter 56: The Pink Rose (1)
Chapter 56: The Pink Rose (1)
Yuka turned her head when she heard the voice. "Morris? Is that you?" she asked in surprise.
Morris approached with a smile, saying, "You are quite impressive, Pink Rose."
Blinking in confusion, Yuka asked, "Huh?"
"Are you ’Lady’?" Morris asked.
In Yuka’s mental realm, the butler happily replied, "Yes, that’s her! Master is the most ladylike lady of all ladies! Thank you for your compliment!"
Yuka fell in silence.
"What lady?" Yuka then tilted her head gently and said, "There’s still much I need to improve on. I’m far from being a complete lady."
"Or are you talking about the ’Lady’ in the top hundred of the leaderboard? That’s not me," Yuka sincerely told Morris.
Morris’s smile deepened. Meeting Yuka’s innocent eyes, he said, "Is that so?"
Yuka nodded in agreement, "Yes, you must be mistaken. I couldn’t possibly be that impressive."
"Speaking of which, I was just defeated by ’Lady’," Morris said, "She’s now ranked eighth."
Yuka thought, ’What a coincidence! Is Morris that ’Knight’?’
"If that’s the case," Morris smiled, "then can you explain why you were wearing all black near the library last night, attacking patrol members before escaping?"
Yuka took a step back, ready to leave, but still maintained an innocent smile, "No, I was with my friends last night. You might have made a mistake."
Yuka knew Morris had no evidence. As long as she denied everything, he couldn’t do anything.
"Then goodbye, Pink Rose." Morris didn’t persist and smiled at Yuka, "May you one day bloom brilliantly without disguise, and not retract your thorns. When that time comes, I’ll praise you with a sonnet, and even angel feathers can’t compare to your hair."
Yuka felt a chill, clenched her fists to resist punching him, and stiffly smiled, "Okay, Morris, goodbye."
She stepped aside to let Morris leave, once again realizing how hard it was to pretend to be weak.
After leaving the underground arena, Yuka immediately rushed back to school. On the Lev back, she messaged Ayoi and Alex in their small group, saying that Morris might have recognized her; however, she also told them not to panic as Morris had no solid evidence.
Ayoi asked, "What about Kimiko? She won’t spill the beans, will she?"
Yuka replied, "Definitely not, she’s in the same boat with us now. I have our chat records, if we get exposed, she can’t escape either."
But Yuka also reminded Kimiko, just to be safe.
"By the way, about Morris," Ayoi said, "I don’t think we need to worry too much. It’s unlikely he’ll tell anyone, and even if he does, people probably won’t believe him."
"Why is that?" Yuka asked.
"Because that’s just how Morris is. He often says things that are confusing and hard to understand, and everyone’s used to it," Ayoi replied. "Once, someone who offended him was turned into a villain in an epic he wrote. The poem, called ’The Saga of the Wig Defense,’ was on the front page of interstellarnet for three days and nights. It made people actually believe this student had stolen a frost giant’s wig."
Yuka was speechless.
"And Yuka, did you know? Morris’s full name used to be Morris Horn. He’s the eldest son of the Horn family, Donny’s older brother," Ayoi continued.
"Used to be?" Yuka inquired.
"Yes," Ayoi said. "Now the Horn family has removed Morris’s name, so he no longer has a surname. This happened because at his coming-of-age ceremony, he declared to everyone present that he wanted to be a bard, yearning for freedom and refusing to stay with his family. The head of the Horn family fainted on the spot. It was a big deal at the time, I can’t believe you didn’t know!"
"He’s so eager for freedom, then why did he join UUA and study mecha specialization?" Yuka wondered.
"He said a bard needs to be physically strong, probably to avoid getting beaten up by others," Ayoi suggested.
Yuka thought back to Morris’s words and felt that if he became a bard, he indeed might get beaten up quite often.
"By the way," Yuka asked, "why is Alex not speaking today?"
Ayoi said, "Alex seems to have gone back to the palace."
’Back to the palace? Why would Alex voluntarily return to the palace?’ Yuka frowned, touching the edge of her opticomputer.
Meanwhile, in the palace, Alex rubbed his bruised wrist, freed from the grip of the two men who had been holding him.
One of the men, a tall figure, sneered, "True to his prince status, his tender wrist starts hurting after just a few touches."
Alex asked coldly, "Who told you to bring me here?"
The two men clearly didn’t take him seriously, seeing him merely as a prince who had lost favor. The shorter one gloated and said, "His Majesty was furious and ordered us to bring you back."
Alex had received a message from his father that morning, asking him to return, but he planned to ignore it. However, the message continued, saying there was a relic of his mother that they wanted to give him.
Although Alex suspected it might be a trap, he couldn’t resist stepping out of the school to retrieve his belonging, only to be captured by these two men and brought to the palace.
The two men quickly left the room and locked the door behind them. Alex stood up using a chair for support, walked to the door, and tried to turn the handle, but unsurprisingly, it was locked.
He then tried pushing the nearby window and discovered that climbing through it would lead him to another room. After some thought, Alex climbed onto the windowsill and entered the darker room. Finding no exit there, he was about to climb back into his original room when he heard footsteps. freёnovelkiss.com
Alex immediately crouched down and stayed quiet. The footsteps stopped, and a rough male voice said, "Our boss said it, you broke the deal first. So now we’re ending our partnership with you. After this, don’t contact us again!"
"No, no, it’s not like that. You’ve misunderstood," another voice pleaded.
Alex’s eyes widened in recognition – it was the Emperor’s voice!
