Reborn; A Slave to the World-Chapter 82: Warp Key
Chapter 82: Warp Key
The guards come back with a small chest that they sit down on the table before Artemis. "Inside this chest is a pouch of coins for you and one other item that I hope you find useful." King Kuroda says with a smirk on his face.
I didn’t really know what to think of this kind of reward but at least the king is giving me something after yesterday. Coins will definitely help since I’ve been broke personally...
"Thank you, your majesty." Artemis replies before opening up the chest. A surprised look grows on his face as he looks down at a key.
I’ve never been given a key for a gift before, what exactly does this do?
"I wish you could stay longer but I do understand the importance of traveling the world." King Kuroda says.
"I’m sure I’ll be back here at some point." Artemis replies with a reassuring tone.
There wasn’t much else that needed to be said after that since everything was given that I was owed. Not that it was actually owed to me or anything but I guess that was just one way of thinking about it.
Artemis took his rewards and then the party left Theos, leaving behind the kingdom with its strange king. "The key, I think it can help us get to Helfri a lot faster than walking all the way back." Isabel speaks up with confidence.
I didn’t really understand why he gave us a key so if Isabel knows how to use it then I won’t complain, especially if it saves us the walk.
It didn’t take much for me to take it out of my pocket since that’s where I stored it for the time being. I should probably invest in a better place to store items going forward though.
He hands the key over to Isabel, she doesn’t take long to inspect it. "It’s definitely a warp Key which I didn’t even think still existed, most of them were used or lost over time." Isabel says with a bit of shock in her voice.
So some sort of teleport key? That’s basically what I gather from it being called a warp Key, I didn’t think anything like that existed in this world. Being able to teleport somewhere could be quite the advantage instead of walking or taking a carriage.
But will everyone be able to teleport with this key or will it only work for one person at a time?
"Can everyone go wherever we need with it?" Amelia asks before Artemis can get the question out.
Isabel looks at the key for a few more moments before responding. "We all will be able to use it together, everyone just needs to huddle up real close so no one is left behind." Isabel responds before instructing.
They all got close to one another and made sure that it was impossible to leave someone behind. It would be awful for any of them to have to travel through the mountains by themselves.
Before anyone can speak a bright white flash occurs and everything around the party disappears as Helfri slowly begins to appear all around them. The bodies were still all over the streets from when they last fought here and no one seems to be roaming about.
"Everyone here?" Artemis asks while taking a few quick looks at the party.
Everyone raised a hand to show they were there and it seems that no one got left behind which was a good sign. "Keys broken though, they’ve always been a one time use type of thing." Isabel speaks up as she looks down at the key.
I don’t know if it was a waste to use the key to get here when we probably could’ve used it to travel across the world to another continent. It’s not the worst idea to use it to come back here since we need the artifact.
Isabel will have to take point since she knows exactly where to find the artifact here— the rest of us would really have to guess where it could be.
Shimada steps forward and keeps one hand on his swords handle. "Where is the artifact exactly?" Shimada asks with a bit of caution in his voice.
I understand his caution with her since she’s still got to prove that she isn’t just trying to get it for them. The enemy could still benefit from whatever this artifact does.
"I’ll lead the way." Isabel responds to him.
Isabel begins leading them to one of the buildings on the East side of Helfri, it seems to be the complete opposite of the others. It looks like it’s in perfect condition with no damage to it whatsoever.
"A perfectly nice building with no damage on the outside, kind of screams out trap doesn’t it?" Cynthia speaks up with worry in her voice.
Mizuki steps ahead of Cynthia. "Trap or not we have some strong people right? Let’s not waste time." She chimes in.
Isabel opens up the door after that and inside the first room is quite nice as well, some paintings can be seen faintly on the walls, furniture was still like new, and a door to another room is on the center wall.
She leads them inside without anything going off but it definitely could give off the impressions of a trap. Anyone could get that idea from how perfect the place is.
"What exactly is the artifact?" Artemis asks.
It would probably help if we knew what this thing was since we are kind of blindly assuming what it could do. We don’t even know what it looks like either so there’s that to consider as well. freeweɓnøvel~com
"The Heart of Nyxoria." Isabel answers without hesitation.
The heart of Nyxoria, now that definitely does make sense why it could be such a powerful item to have. What it does is the only unknown part of it, unless Isabel decides to enlighten us with some information about it.
I’m more curious if it actually looks like a heart of it is one of those items that has the name but doesn’t resemble one whatsoever. I’ve always loved seeing those, but wait, what did I use to see them in?
My memories really are fading from that life but I haven’t used my power recently unless it was from the fighting in Theos. I still can’t guarantee if it’s the power or if this is just natural.
If it was natural I think Isabel would have faced the same problem but she still can recall exactly what happened. So it would have to be related to my powers with the shadows or maybe even my return by death.
There’s something about it that I can’t figure out, why is it this complicated?
"Are we talking like an actual heart or is that just the name of the artifact?" Shimada asks with a nervous tone in his voice.
I don’t think anyone wants to see an actual heart but I’m glad he beat me to the question since I was thinking about asking that myself.
Isabel goes to open the door. "It’s an actual heart but it doesn’t look anything like one since it was infused into the current artifact. You’ll understand when you see it." Isabel responds as her hand reaches the handle.
It won’t look anything like a real heart but it just contains the power that was stored within her heart? That’s kind of what I gathered from what she said but we’ll see in a few moments anyway.
The door opens and a bunch of strange whispers come out from behind it. Isabel ignores the whispers and heads inside but she gestures to them to wait out there.
Everyone looked at one another as they debated if they should be listening to Isabel or not.
"If she wanted to take it for herself she would’ve used the key without saying what it did." Artemis says to reassure them.
We wouldn’t be here with her if she was going to just take it for herself, at least that’s how I’m looking at it. I could be completely wrong and she might actually want us here so she can kill all the major problems in one go.
No one can truly say they know what her intentions are so that’s what makes it difficult. I’ve taken a gamble with each person I’ve brought into the party and so far I have made the right decision.
Mizuki still has to show we can trust her but she’s not acting like some stranger which makes it easier. It can be hard to try to talk with so many other people within the party.
"Isabel seems to be set on seeing what you can do. I doubt we’ll have an issue." Liora chimes in with some assurance.
No one here knows I can come back after dying which makes this even easier to handle. If she does betray us here then I’ll know what to do instead.
