Reborn As A Doomsday Villainess-Chapter 78: What’s your family like
Chapter 78: What’s your family like
Before Qingran could take another step, a firm arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her back against a familiar, solid chest. The warmth of Yizhou’s body pressed into her, his breath hot against her ear as he leaned in.
"You owe me dinner for getting you the weapons," he murmured, his voice smooth and deliberate. "So I want you to cook and eat with me—alone."
[He does have point. Haoyu, that dumb cat and I will head to the room. Speaking of which where’s Caocao?]
"..."
"Where is your system? Is Caocao unwilling to come out?"
Feng Yizhou blinked, he hasn’t thought about releasing Caocao and she hadn’t said a word in a while.
"Hey Caocao, you wanna come out or something. He seems to be eager to meet you.."
[Ding! Lingquan? Eager to meet me? That’s absurd, he’s probably waiting to bully and I refuse to come out.]
"..."
"You’re overreacting, I’m sure he’s just curious why you’re not here. If he bullies you, next time I won’t let you come out.."
[Ding! Seems like a reasonable idea, very well, I’ll head out. Enjoy your dinner with your lady.]
Soon a white paw was spotted and Caocao appeared fully.
Compared to Lingquan and Lotus, she looked small.
[How annoying.]
Lingquan chuckled as he walked up to her, his blue eyes peering down at her.
[What do you what?]
[Were you hiding? Did you think I’d bully you?]
Caocao hissed looking at him dangerously, that was what he was about to do.
[...haha, you see my antics as bullying but they are not. The humans want to have dinner to themselves. Lotus tell your host to head to his room, we will all follow him there.]
Lotus nodded, brushing his tail over Haoyu, he didn’t need to tell him, before he stood up to leave.
He wasn’t that dense, he could read the situation.
Haoyu glanced at them one last time before turning on his heel. "I’ll be going to my room." His voice was indifferent, carrying none of the usual friendliness one might expect from a younger brother figure.
He didn’t look back as he disappeared down the hall, Lotus, Lingquan and Caocao following closely behind him.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Caocao’s voice chimed in Yizhou’s mind.
[Ding! Try not to act stupid, host.]
"I can handle myself well Caocao."
[Ding! Sure you can....dumbass]
"...."
"Finally."
With the distractions gone, he turned his attention back to Qingran, stepping closer. "Now, about that dinner..."
Qingran held up a hand, stopping him in his tracks. "First, kitchen rules. No hovering, no unnecessary touching, and if you complain, you’re doing the dishes."
Yizhou narrowed his eyes. "I don’t complain."
She snorted, walking toward the fridge. "You just complained about that."
Yizhou followed her, standing close enough to reach for her if he wanted to. His gaze swept over her as she pulled out ingredients. "What are you making?"
"Something quick, since someone is impatient."
He smirked. "I like when you prioritize me."
She gave him a flat look. "You like when I don’t throw you out." ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"That too."
Qingran sighed, setting a cutting board on the counter. "If you’re so eager to eat, make yourself useful." She handed him a knife. "Chop these."
Yizhou took the knife, eyeing it with mild suspicion. "You want me to cook?"
She arched a brow. "What, afraid you’ll mess up?"
His pride flared. "Hardly. You know I’m a good cook."
Qingran leaned against the counter, arms crossed. "Then prove it."
Yizhou’s smirk deepened. "You really think I’d lose to you in the kitchen?"
She gestured at the vegetables. "Less talking, more chopping."
With a low chuckle, Yizhou rolled up his sleeves, taking the knife with practiced ease. He made quick, precise cuts, the rhythmic sound of chopping filling the kitchen. Qingran watched with mild interest, admittedly impressed.
"Not bad," she muttered.
Yizhou glanced at her. "I told you, I don’t do things half-assed."
She hummed in response, turning her attention to the stove. As she set a pan to heat, she felt him move behind her, his presence looming close.
A hand brushed against her hip. "Too close," she warned.
He didn’t move away. "Just supervising."
She shot him a side-eye. "You’re hovering."
He smirked. "I’m observing."
Qingran focused on cooking, refusing to let his teasing get to her. But she couldn’t deny that despite the bickering, she liked this.
Did her parents ever bicker like this? Did Tzang Yichen ever saw their parents in love?
She clenched her fists, she had lost all appetite to eat after that thought.
Yizhou raised a brow, her mood had suddenly dampened.
Qingran finished plating the food, she made a little for the cats as well. She carried them to Haoyu’s room so they could have their dinner there.
"Sorry for the inconvenience guys, we’ll have dinner together tomorrow. For today, have dinner here..." she placed the food down on the table from the tray along with bottled waters and chopsticks for Haoyou.
As she headed to the door, she turned to Lingquan. "And don’t bully anyone. That means you Lingquan, no funny business.."
"..."
Lingquan hissed [Since when did i become a bully? I understand, I will maintain my distance.]
Lingquan hissed again and jumped on the bed, laying there and hoping this was appropriate distance away from them.
When Qingran got back to the living room, Yizhou was already sitting, waiting for her to eat.
She slid down, opposite him picking up her chopsticks.
But no matter how much she stared at the food, she couldn’t bring herself to eat it.
Yizhou sighed and placed his chopsticks, bringing his hand up to tap on the table.
"Alright spill, what’s up with you?"
Qingran looked up, biting her lips, could she ask this question to Feng Yizhou?
"What’s family like, what’s your family like?"
"..."
Yizhou blinked, he figured it was not wrong for Qingran to ask such a question based on her background.
"Well. I wouldn’t say my childhood was the best. My mother was quiet and as an only child. I’ve lived my whole life under pressure, nothing I ever did was good enough for my father and my mother couldn’t protect me. "
"Ultimately my situation and pushed me to become the man that I am today, I refused to let my father’s pressure get to me, so I stood up to him and left the house."
