Reborn As a Goat: Journey to the peak-Chapter 27: Dogs attack
Fuck, it never left.
"Lin, run... I’ll stay behind. That’s what a friend does—help each other. You helped me, and I should help you. Please remember the time we shared, even though it was short. I am grateful. No one ever showed me the care you did," said Bojo Ready, to sacrifice himself.
Before they could react, the dog lunged. It ignored Bojo entirely, focusing its wrath on Lin. Lucky, Lin dodged just in time to avoid the snapping jaws. The dog adjusted its speed, eyes narrowed in on its prey. Mouth dripping with saliva, it snarled and charged again.
Lin ran desperately, but the dog was faster. Within a few seconds, it caught up, jaws snapping to strike. Bojo leapt in just in time. Just a few inches away from biting down on Lin’s butt, Bojo sent a sharp and precise hit to its belly. The dog, focused on Lin, hadn’t anticipated something like that. The hit landed directly on the dog’s body, causing it to lose its balance, fall, roll over, and hit a tree.
Lin glanced back with a surprised expression on his face. Bojo, who always acted worried, not only stood up for him twice, but now he was attacking the dog.
"No one touches my friend, no one, even if it’s an angel," Bojo said with resolute conviction. Blood seeped from the wound where his missing horn had been, but bojo coemplety ignored the blood as he kept looking at the goat, ready to pound once again.
At this moment, a notification appeared before Lin. But he ignored it.

The dog slowly stood up, lips curling into a wicked sneer, and circled the duo. Lin clenched his teeth, his whole body trembling with adrenaline as cold reality set in.
"Damn it, what to do now? There’s no way to outrun it—one bite in the neck and I’m done," Lin looked at Bojo, who was staring at the dog intensely. "If I were alone, I could have run away, but like this--it won’t be possible. I can’t leave him here. Not alone. Besides, there’s a high chance the dog won’t leave Bojo alone after that attack. Damn it, if only I had that language skill, I might have been able to talk to this dog to ease things."
The dog bolted toward Bojo.
"Move, Bojo!" Lin shouted as he also ran toward Bojo, thinking that Bojo might not have the chance to move away.
Bojo, who had been alert from the beginning, moved to the side but was still bitten on one of his legs. What the dog intended to do was clear. Lin didn’t waste time. Before the dog could put pressure on Bojo’s leg, he lowered his head and directly sent a headbutt to the dog’s head.
The dog, hit by a pair of horns on its abdomen, took a few steps back and growled in pain. What Lin wanted had happened: it released Bojo and started coughing out the mud that had gone into its mouth while trying to hold Bojo. The mud was what helped Bojo get away from the dog.
"You okay?" Lin asked to confirm the dog hadn’t snapped Bojo’s leg.
The angrier dog rushed again. This time it was Lin’s turn. Seeing the dog coming in his direction, he didn’t just stand there to let it bite him. Besides, his whole body was covered with mud, which slowed him down more.
He didn’t just run—he looked around to find something he could use for leverage. He stopped in front of a tree nearby as the dog got closer. He turned around and waited for the dog to arrive.
The dog opened its jaw when it was only a few inches away, but Lin moved to the side. The dog slammed directly into the tree, its jaw stuck against the bark.
"Damn, this is one of the stupidest fights I’ve ever fought," Lin muttered. "Horns can’t injure him. I have to look for another way." He looked around and finally found a small tree branch. He took it in his mouth and looked at the dog’s most vulnerable spot.
"Bad luck for you. Hopefully, what I’m trying to do will work," Lin rushed toward the dog. Just as he was only a few inches away, he moved his head to the side, still holding the branch in his mouth, aiming one end toward the dog’s butt.
The dog sensed danger and started shaking harder to release its jaw from the tree. Finally, it freed itself, but it was already too late. In the next second, it felt something thin but big enter through its but, possibly tearing skin inside of him.
The dog let out a sharp yelp followed by a soft whimpering cry, its body trembling in pain. The dog lowered its tail and spun in circles, biting and trying to take out the stick that had pierced its butt.
"Damn, that was easy," he signaled Bojo. It was time to leave this place. They won’t have a better chance than this.
But Bojo, already angry and fuming to take revenge, wanted to attack the dog and finish it here. Lin had to make him understand there was almost no way the two of them could take down the dog. Since the dog was busy trying to get the stick out, it was the best chance they had, and if it succeeded, both of them would be doomed. Before that happened, they had to leave.
"I might have been able to take him as a pet. A goat with a dog pet—that would have been damn interesting," Lin thought to himself. He couldn’t help but remember his own dog, a German Shepherd named Dogy. Lin had found Dogy when he was still a small puppy by the roadside. Loyal, intelligent, and protective.
Bojo agreed to leave. They didn’t waste time and ran as fast as they could. Their destination was unknown. But it wasn’t long before they heard the barking sound from behind.
