During the course of this war, the rebel army already did enough things to be labeled as the Federation Army’s kryptonite.

First, they shattered the myth of the Federation Army.

They showed in front of the whole world that the Federation Army was not invincible and that they were not as strong as they seemed.

In front of the entire world, General Ren Nora of the Freegrid Collective led his army to fight the Federation Army even while being led by a C Rank Ascended, forcing them to retreat!

That moment broke history.

Tonight, there were no cameras in place broadcasting the battle to the entire world but history was made for the second time since this war started.

This time, the rebel army didn’t just defeat and force the Federation Army and a C Rank Ascended to retreat, they trapped a C Rank Ascended!

The rebel army also made history in the fact that for the first time in centuries since the inception of the Omnicore Federation, they made them and their army desperate and vulnerable.

The reason why the Omnicore Federation started this war in the first place was because they didn’t want a new C Rank Ascended to emerge in the world.

This was also why they sent their own C Rank Ascended just to ensure that the rebel army would be purged completely.

General Sylvari Charr was the leader of the army with the sole mission of making sure that the Freegrid Collective becomes history.

For the past 12 days, things may not have gone the way that they wanted but at the very least, Ren Nora didn’t attempt the Trial.

And so long he didn’t attempt the Trial, they were not desperate.

And now, not only did Ren Nora already attempt the Trial for a period of indeterminate time already, but the C Rank Commander of the Federation Army who led this mission was trapped!

Normal Ascended saw C Rank Ascended like gods.

This was the pinnacle of power in Neo-Tokara, every single one of them could move mountains and level hills with their power.

And yet, one of these gods was just trapped!

The Federation Army lost its mind.

At the beginning of the war 12 days ago, before General Sylvari Charr personally entered the battlefield, 4 D Rank Ascended made their presence known, leading the Federation Army to battle till Ren Nora’s crazy assassination.

By assassinating one of General Sylvari Charr’s Lieutenants, the General of the Federation Army was left with just 3 D Rank Ascended- a D Rank Cyber Gladiator of the Exo Knight Specialization, a D Rank NetRunner of the Cyber Saint Specialization, and a D Rank Quantum Shaper of the Gravitionist Specialization.

Originally, buoyed by the circumstances of the battle and Ren Nora’s absence, General Sylvari Charr was eager to singlehandedly hunt down and kill all of Ren Nora’s Lieutenants.

This was to restore his reputation as a C Rank Ascended that had been violated for almost 2 weeks in this city.

He indulged himself in battle while he instructed his Lieutenants to focus on searching for Ren Nora’s hiding place, this was why they didn’t bother to help him in the battle. They never thought he needed help.

And most importantly, they never thought it was possible for a C Rank Ascended to fall into a trap.

This was another history-breaking moment in the history of Neo-Tokara.

But the moment the General was trapped, his 3 Lieutenants reacted. They knew they couldn’t leave him to stay trapped.

They didn’t need to discuss first, the 3 D Rank Lieutenants of the Federation Army immediately regrouped before flying towards the location where General Sylvari Charr was trapped and where the enemy D Rank Lieutenants still were.

Even without discussing, they instinctively came up with a plan to save the General and the core of their plan laid in the nature of a D Rank NetRunner of the Cyber Saint Specialization.

Major Ceres, the only female among them, a powerful Synth who was also a Cyber Saint was the reason for their approach.

At D Rank, NetRunners of the Cyber Saint Specialization unlock 3 abilities- Purify, Shield, and Stalwart.

Unlike the other 2 Class Specializations of NetRunners at D Rank, Cyber Saints were the Class Specialization symbolizing support and psionic defense.

Unlike the other 2 Class Specializations, their abilities sounded weak but their utility was not.

Purify enables a Cyber Saint to purify corrupted data on a large scale, the ability has an innate property of locating viruses and cleaning them on a large scale.

Purify was essentially an overpowered Antivirus.

This was what the 3 D Rank Ascended of the Federation Army hoped to use to free General Sylvari Charr.

A trap that could actually hold a C Rank NetRunner was definitely going to be a virus or virus-related, and Cyber Saints were best at dealing with viruses.

And just like Major Kai and Major Potter were able to see the source of the General’s predicament, Major Ceres also saw this from afar and quickly relayed it to her comrades, making them arrive at the decision to go help. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

As for the 2 other Cyber Saint abilities, Shield enables a Cyber Saint to shield allies’ neural links and interfaces, protecting them from the most devious and insidious abilities of enemy NetRunners.

Cyber Saints could protect allies’ neural links and interfaces from being infiltrated by other NetRunners through Neural Projection.

Over the past few days, Major Ceres was a major factor for the Federation Army’s bounce in battle results inside Purgatory.

Once General Sylvari Charr fully understood Purgatory’s effects, he learned to utilize the Cyber Saint more, deploying her to protect and support entire battalions of aerial transports and warships with her Shield ability.

A single Cyber Saint can heavily affect any aerial battlefield.

And lastly, Stalwart is a personal ability that enables a Cyber Saint to heavily strengthen and reinforce all his/her cyber defense and security, becoming immune to virus attacks and the insidious abilities of Mindbreakers.

Stalwart also grants Cyber Saints slightly increased resistance to physical attacks, but this ability was more focused on the cyber world and the mind.

A powerful Cyber Saint with Stalwart can resist the Neural Tyrant ability of a C Rank NetRunner of the Mindbreaker Specialization!

Whoosh!

The 3 Federation D Rank Ascended flew through the sky like beacons of light in the night, rushing to save the General amid the distant battle that was concentrated above the military base in the Southeast of Iron Reef.

For some reason, the rebel D Rank Ascended didn’t try to stop them and soon enough, Major Ceres knew why.

The moment she came close enough to fully see the 1 kilometer range covered by the trap and the true contents of the trap, the Cyber Saint paled instantly as a look of horror appeared on her face.

"M-m-millions...?" Her eyes widened in terror. "No, hundreds of millions!"

Her lips quivered. "I can’t purify this!"

Leon’s DDOS attack was not something that could be purified by a single D Rank NetRunner of the Cyber Saint Specialization.

Afterall, this was not a trap that was being powered by an individual.

This was a trap being powered by an entire city!

In that moment, despair and desperation truly set in, and Major Ceres made her decision instantly.

PING!

She sent a distress call to Spire Prime, the headquarters of the Omnicore Federation requesting for immediate reinforcement.

That was the only thing she and her comrades could to before the enemy Lieutenants descended on them.

BZZZZZ!

All hell broke loose!
