Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 74: Ch : Sponsorship Offer
Andrew sighed as he managed to send the message in time. Not that he needed to send that message, since the party seemed to have figured out what they needed to do without his help.
But still, he wanted to be of some use here. Otherwise, the darkness around him would eat him alive.
The claw that had been interacting with him was gone as well, and he tried to walk around the perimeter of the wall that was holding him back inside the dark boundaries.
Unfortunately, he had no way to know if he was making progress or moving around in a circle. He just knew that he had not made any new discoveries even after a long time.
While he had been doing this, more and more people had started to complete their given quest. A lot of people already had a tick mark in front of their names, which indicated that they were done.
But the main surprise was the additional name that had appeared in the hero’s party.
[Clara: The former evil dragon has been added to the hero’s party.]
Andrew stared at the system for a few seconds before he gave up figuring out how that had happened. He had missed what was going on in the game since he was busy exploring the place he was locked in.
Once the main party reached the castle of the evil emperor, the system informed him that it was time for him to act.
[Player buff has been activated. The players will be given additional stats and power to take down the evil king.]
Andrew knew that there was no way for his side to lose now, but just keeping an eye on things became more and more boring.
The quest on the screen came to an end, and by the 15th in-game day, everyone had completed their quests.
[Game 10 has concluded.]
’What an anticlimactic game.’
"What an anticlimactic game, won’t you agree, game-master? You truly have no talent for crafting games or scenarios. I feel cheated, especially since I had such high hopes for you."
A voice told Andrew, and he tensed.
He immediately looked around to see who had spoken, but there was no one around him. The empty silence greeted him before a giggle broke the silence.
"There is no need to look so alarmed. If you want, I can show myself to you. Surely that will make you feel like you can trust me?"
The voice asked, but Andrew kept his guard up. The darkness around him suddenly started to glow before the glow began to concentrate and form a body.
A feminine silhouette appeared in front of Andrew in a glowing mass. It had no features, just a form that existed.
"You are... Aren’t you the system’s pet? Why would you come and seek me out?"
Andrew asked the glowing form in front of him.
This was not his first time seeing a Luminoire, but he did not want to advertise that he knew what this creature was. The less he pretended to know, the better it would be for him in the future.
"Hmm, you don’t look as surprised to see me as I had thought you would. It seems like you are a highly adaptive human. It’s nice to see and makes me feel better about my choice."
The creature told Andrew, causing him to pause and look at her.
"Your choice...?"
He asked, and the Luminoire nodded.
"That is right. Now that Game 10 has concluded, the information network will open. As such, those who are made admins by the system will be free to select those whom we want to sponsor, and I would like to offer my support to you before anyone else could-"
Andrew’s staff passed through the form of light without damaging it. He wanted to know whether he could hurt the entity in front of him or not.
"Please don’t try to attack me. My real body is not in this realm, and this form is just a projection to be able to talk to you. But your attitude tells me that you do not want me as your sponsor. May I ask what I am lacking?"
The form asked, and Andrew gritted his teeth. But since the person in front of him had been civil to him, he also felt like he had to be civil back.
"I do not want any contract or sponsorship with anyone connected to the system."
Andrew told the Luminoire, and a tense silence followed his declaration.
"Isn’t that hypocritical for you to say? You claim you hate the system and anything to do with it, and yet you use its powers as you wish..."
"And? I never said I was not a hypocrite. I will use the system for as long as I need to. That has nothing to do with my desire to form a contract with the admins."
"I see... You seem rather firm about your decision. But it’s only because the games are easy right now. I am sure you will change your mind soon enough-"
Andrew just smiled at the Luminoire.
"To me, the one who sounds desperate is you. But don’t worry. I know just how dangerous these games can be. I will be just fine. You all, on the other hand-better watch out."
Andrew struck the Luminoire one last time to feel better as he was transported out of the darkness.
The offer from the Luminoire was interesting, but it was not something necessary. He had not had a contract during his time on Arcane, and he had made it till the end just fine.
In fact, the people who had suffered the most during the games were the ones who chose the wrong sponsors as their contractors and ended up paying a huge price for it.
"I better warn everyone else not to make a contract without asking me first. It would be the worst if they were to get scammed into a hard life that they did not want."
