Reborn as a Weak Earthling, I Became the Most Overpowered Mage Alive-Chapter 77: Ch : Invitation from The Peace Cooperation
"Alright everyone, it’s time. Get ready to pull your weight."
Clara declared as she stood out in the field. The sun was high in the sky, causing the temperature to spike. But she moved around with an excited expression as she checked up on plants.
"Now remember, only pull out from the side I have marked as ready. Do you understand? If so, then let’s go."
Clara raised her hand in the air before she started to dig around and pull carrots out.
Her excitement did not reach the others standing behind her. But harvesting was an important event, especially if they did not want to run out of food.
"Someone needs to tell that woman to calm down. She is getting far too excited. If only she showed half of this enthusiasm while training..."
Emperor complained one second, and the next, he had a sickle in his hand.
"Complain later. For now, get to cutting. And make sure to leave the roots of the plants so that they can grow again. DO. NOT. PULL. THEM. OUT."
Clara looked almost scary when she said these words. Her presence made even Emperor sigh, and he nodded and got to work.
Lilianna and Andrew followed after him as well, pulling a few plants at a time.
Seraphina watched from the sidelines for some time, and that was for the best. Despite her perfect eyesight, she could not spot raw vegetables from the ripe ones, and she somehow kept ruining the harvest, so Clara had her sit this one out.
"Ah, this is true happiness. No fighting, no monsters, just me and my well-grown food... Ahhh, where did you come from-!"
Clara suddenly noticed a new presence sitting beside her, eating one of her berries she had grown with much care. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"Oh wow-! These taste so much better than the ones back home-! Wait-! Don’t kill me. I am only here to deliver a message."
The man replied, immediately putting his hands up to show that he was harmless. But Clara had already hit him in the stomach, causing him to grab it and collapse.
"T-This is not f-fair-! T-Thief did not t-tell me about this..."
Andrew immediately came near Clara and the new intruder before he noticed that familiar face.
[Mandraine (level 20)]
The name tag was somewhat familiar, but it took Andrew some time to put the face and name together.
"You are... Thief’s companion. What are you doing here?"
Andrew asked, and Mandraine immediately proclaimed himself as harmless and innocent.
"I am not here to cause you any trouble. I am here because Thief sent me. He would like to invite you to the next Peace Cooperation’s meeting. I am just the messenger, so please don’t shoot me."
The man begged as he bowed. He seemed to have realized his mistake.
"Hmm, what does your invitation have to do with eating my plants? Do you know how much effort I put into growing them? I should hit you a few more times..."
Clara raged, and Mandraine realized that he should leave before he could get hit any more.
"I... should take my leave now. The only reason I came here to deliver a message in person was because Thief said that it would sound more personal. He will send you the message regarding other information within a day or two."
Mandraine told him before he ran away from Clara’s angry stare.
"Tsk, that good-for-nothing..."
Clara complained, and Lilianna immediately went to her to calm her down. Meanwhile, the other three huddled together to discuss what they should do next.
"Are you going to accept this invitation? This could be a trap..."
Seraphina hesitated before she spoke. But since it was her nature to be cautious, she felt like she had to warn Andrew.
"I know. But this is also my best chance to be able to see what the Peace Cooperation has planned for the future. I will take this chance to check these people out. But I think I should go to this meeting alone while you both stand around as back-up for me."
Andrew did not want them all to go in and fall victim to some ability, so he made this decision.
If someone was going to get compromised, he would rather it be himself. That way, the other two would find a way to snap him out... mostly.
"I agree. Only one of us should go to check out the situation, and Andrew makes the most sense."
She agreed.
Emperor did not say anything, but his silence was as good as confirmation. With this, it was decided what they would do next.
"The next few days... they sure are cutting it close to the next game. It is about to be held in four days as well."
Above their heads, the timer continued to tick down, signaling the coming of the next game.
"We will get to it when the time comes. For now, let’s focus on our own survival."
And by that, Andrew meant that he should help Lilianna calm down Clara and get back to harvesting. So they spent their day like that, and by dinner time, the message Andrew had been waiting for also arrived.
[Dear Mark Dawson,
We, at ’The Peace Cooperation,’ would like to extend an invitation to have you join us at our next talk two days from now. We hope to see you then.
Regards
The Peace Cooperation]
The message had only come for Andrew, but he had expected it. And as it had been decided, he chose to head there alone.
It was to be held in the only building in the whole city that still had a functional power supply. It was a place that had been claimed as soon as the system came into being, and those in charge had no intention of sharing the space.
As soon as Andrew reached the main entrance, he spotted Thief waiting for him. Queen stood by his side with a sour look on her face.
"Mark Dawson, you made it. I was waiting for you. Please, follow after me and watch your steps. There are more than a few traps lining this whole place, and triggering them might cause us a headache."
Thief warned as he led Andrew inside The Peace Cooperation’s office.
