Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World-Chapter 92 - 93 Life is More Important
Chapter 92: Chapter 93 Life is More Important
Two Government Officials stepped forward to seize her, but Shao He’s figure flashed agilely out of their reach.
The leading Government Official’s eyes suddenly changed, never expecting that this seemingly frail woman could actually possess some martial skills.
“Think carefully, even if you can escape from here, it means you admit your own guilt,” he said.
Shao He stopped in her tracks, leaning against the cold wall, her mouth corners slightly upturned as she said faintly, “When did I ever say I intended to escape from here?”
While escaping the prison was indeed possible, she could not just flee like that; she must leave openly and honorably.

The leading Government Official heard her words and immediately signaled the other Officials to come forward and capture her.
...
“Wait, I’ve thought it through, life is more important compared to recipes. Bring me paper and pen,” Shao He said with a light smile, gesturing to the Government Officials with her hand.
Seeing this, the leading Government Official scoffed, “Wouldn’t it have been better to act like this from the start? You brought this upon yourself.”
Having said that, he left the cell with the others.
Soon, a Government Official delivered paper and pen. Shao He wrote down the recipe and handed it over; then, as she watched the official turn to leave, she asked, “I have given you the recipe, when will you let me go?”
“Naturally, once the item is developed and verified, we’ll let you go. Although someone has registered you and your child, giving you new identities, investigating your household registration is easy. Take this as a warning — don’t play any tricks, just be honest,” the Government Official said before leaving with the recipe in hand.
Shao He slightly regretted not asking for some food; she touched her flattened stomach and lay down on the cold stone bed.
“If I fall asleep, I won’t feel the hunger,” she comforted herself internally.
At this moment, not only could Shao He not fall asleep, but she also felt unbearably cold, rubbing her arms for warmth. Cold and hungry, she eventually drifted into a light sleep after a while.
Being a light sleeper, Shao He immediately opened her eyes when she heard noises, glancing outside the cell.
Moments later, Pei Huaian appeared in the prison, wheelchair and all; their eyes met, and Shao He was the first to look away.
“Open the cell door,” a cold, piercing voice issued from Pei Huaian’s mouth.
The Government Official was dragged over, stammering, “This, this…”
“Han Feng, open the cell door.”
Upon Pei Huaian’s command, Han Feng drew out his long sword and chopped through the iron chains, opening the cell door instantly. Pei Huaian wheeled himself in, his heart aching a bit at her pale face.
Shao He got up from the stone bed, but due to extreme hunger, her body was unsteady, and she staggered, about to fall to the side.
“Be careful.”
With swift reaction, Pei Huaian reached out to grasp her arm, pulling her into his embrace. Feeling her soft body against him, his heart sped up, his ears turning red involuntarily.
Shao He, feeling the warmth of his body, blushed and, looking at the half-masked face, reached out impulsively to remove the mask from his face.
Pei Huaian noticed her action and grabbed her delicate wrist firmly, feeling her body stiffen. A strange light crossed his eyes before he slowly let go.
“Ahem.” Han Feng coughed into his fist twice. He was quite concerned about his master’s legs.
He knew that his master had no feeling in his legs, yet he worried that sitting like this might worsen the condition.
Coming to her senses, Shao He quickly stood, “I’m sorry, are you alright?”
With a smile, Pei Huaian shook his head, “Not to worry, I’m not so fragile.”
Shao He remembered telling him to take good care of his legs just the other day; now, having sat on them so abruptly, she genuinely feared that his leg condition might relapse.
And so Shao He was taken out of the prison. The Government Officials intended to stop her, but, faced with the men’s threatening aura, could only watch helplessly as they left.
Upon mounting the carriage, Shao He sincerely expressed her gratitude, “Thank you for your help this time, I owe you another favor.”
Pei Huaian looked at her solemnly, “If you ever find yourself in trouble again, just come to me…” He paused halfway through his sentence, then continued under her surprised gaze, “consider it for the child’s well-being.”
Pei Huaian brought out prepared pastries and tea, “Eat something to fill your stomach.”
Moved by his thoughtful gesture, Shao He felt something within her slowly changing.
After eating the pastries and drinking the warm tea, Shao He’s spirits finally lifted. Looking at the person who kept watching her, she asked in bewilderment, “Is there something on my face?”
“Mm,” Pei Huaian murmured in reply.
At this, Shao He reached out to touch her cheek, but found no dirt there.
Pei Huaian calmly explained, “Your face is smeared with dust.”
Pei Huaian’s gaze grew darker as he lifted his right hand to her cheek, his warm fingertips caressing her skin.
The gentle touch made her stiffen up, causing her to twist slightly to avoid his hand. This intimate contact was somewhat uncomfortable for her.
Noticing her reaction, Pei Huaian stopped his movements.
“I’d better do it myself,” Shao He said, turning her face away in slight embarrassment.
Without a word, Pei Huaian withdrew his hand, rubbing his fingers together as his eyes shimmered with indecipherable thoughts.
“Don’t worry, I will definitely help you retrieve your recipe,” Pei Huaian assured her adamantly.
He already knew why Shao He had been captured and that someone coveted her recipe. Since it was hers, no one else had the right to touch it, and they certainly didn’t deserve her possession.
