Reborn As Super Heiress-Chapter 1777 - 1679: Save My Husband
The helicopter was still hovering above but had yet to find a place to land. Seeing the situation, Gu Xu made an immediate decision to descend the rope ladder without even notifying Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian. He slid down directly, and in the blink of an eye, he disappeared into the ruins.
"Damn it! Has Xu Zi gone mad? This hellhole could have aftershocks at any time, and he just ran down like that. Does he really think he’s Superman?"
Ouyang Jun watched as Gu Xu vanished and was practically beside himself with anger. His grandfather had instructed him that whether or not they could find people, at the very least, Gu Xu shouldn’t get into trouble. But now, Gu Xu was completely preoccupied with his wife and wasn’t listening to anyone else.
Qin Tian was also anxious, but with the rotor blades spinning rapidly overhead, creating massive noise, he couldn’t hear what he himself was saying, let alone what Ouyang Jun was saying.
Seeing the other two reconnaissance soldiers brought by Gu Xu follow him down the rope ladder, Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian had no choice but to go down as well.
As soon as Gu Xu rushed into the ruins, he ran towards the location of the hotel where Huo Sining was staying. He stumbled and staggered along the way, with injured people everywhere, the stench of blood, the smell of earth, and dust flying all around. There was leaking gas, spraying pipes, collapsed walls—chaos was everywhere.
Seeing this, Gu Xu’s frantic running footsteps came to an abrupt stop.
His gaze fell upon the devastated land and the buildings that were now ruins, filling his heart with boundless sorrow and desolation.
"Sir, please, save my husband. He’s trapped. I’m begging you, help us!"
Just then, a dirty hand suddenly reached out and grabbed Gu Xu’s arm.
Startled, Gu Xu lowered his head to see a middle-aged woman, clothing in rags and face covered with blood. Her whole body was in shambles as she knelt on the ground, kowtowing to him repeatedly, her eyes full of despair and pleading.
"Mama, mama..."
A little girl, dressed in dirty pajamas, about four or five years old, disheveled and barefoot, stood behind the woman. Seeing her mother kowtow, the girl burst into tears, staggering towards them. Tears mixed with dirt on her face left only fear and panic, as she continued to cry out for her mother.
Witnessing this scene, Gu Xu’s breath caught, and various thoughts surged through him. His eyes turned red, but he couldn’t utter words of refusal.
He was here to find his wife, but as the leader of Falcon and a special forces soldier, he couldn’t bring himself to ignore these suffering families.
Gu Xu forced himself not to think about what might have happened to Huo Sining, clearing away all the negative thoughts from his mind. He knelt down, picked up the little girl, took a piece of bread and a bottle of water from his backpack, and handed them to the girl. His voice was hoarse and strained as he asked the woman, "Where is he?"
Hearing Gu Xu’s words, the woman quickly lifted her head, eyes bursting with excitement and joy. In that instant, hope returned to her face.
Ignoring the torn skin and bloody wound on her forehead, the woman agilely stood up and shouted to Gu Xu, "Please follow me!"
"Captain!"
"Xu Zi!"
The two reconnaissance soldiers, followed by Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian, arrived and couldn’t help but call out to Gu Xu when they saw the scene.
They all knew that Gu Xu had gone to great lengths, even mobilizing a military helicopter from the old man, to come all the way to Meishan to find his wife. Yet now, Gu Xu was turning to rescue others, delaying his original purpose. This left those following him completely baffled.
Gu Xu’s steps halted for a moment, his throat moved slightly, and his hand hanging beside him clenched into a fist, full of struggle and pain. Finally, he closed his eyes and said heavily:
"Let’s go!"
This was a difficult choice, but faced with children full of hope, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.
Following the woman, they reached a place by the ruins where a man was crushed under broken stones.
Upon seeing her husband barely alive, the woman rushed forward and attempted to move the massive stones with her bare hands. But she was just one woman; how could she possibly muster the strength to move such heavy stones? Even with gritted teeth and using all her might, she couldn’t make the stones budge.
"We’ll take care of this! Ma’am, hold your child and keep away from here; be careful of falling stones that might hurt the child!"
Seeing this, even Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian couldn’t bear to watch further. Gu Xu handed the child to the woman and charged forward with the five of them.
Having anticipated such a situation, Gu Xu and his team had already donned the gear prepared by the military region in Qing City. They were well-equipped with various tools, making moving these stones far more efficient than the woman with her bare hands.
Moreover, Gu Xu and his men were all seasoned soldiers who had been through countless field exercises, giving them considerable experience in such tasks. Under Gu Xu’s brief instructions, the five men coordinated well and quickly assumed their roles. In just around ten minutes, they managed to clear away the stones.
They pulled the middle-aged man trapped under the stones out of the ruins. Gu Xu then quickly performed preliminary bleeding control, cleaning, and bandaging on the man’s legs, which had been crushed and were nearly unrecognizable. Turning to Ouyang Jun, he shouted:
"Chief of Staff Liao’s team should have come in from their side; call them and inform them of our exact location, so they can send a medical team over!"
On their way, Chief of Staff Liao from Qing City Military Region provided Ouyang Jun with a satellite phone, fearing they might encounter danger inside since communication in Meishan had been completely cut off. Without the satellite phone, no calls could be made.
Chief of Staff Liao’s purpose in giving them the satellite phone was for emergency use. Now Gu Xu was using it to contact the military and ask them to dispatch medical personnel.
Chief of Staff Liao cursed silently, thinking that Ouyang Jun and the others were causing him trouble. But due to the lingering influence of Qin Lianshan, he had no choice but to follow Ouyang Jun’s orders.
