Reborn As Super Heiress-Chapter 1868 - 1771: Everyone’s Wish
Huo Sining had no idea that a single phone call would bring Mr. Gu to her. After hanging up the phone, she rolled around on the bed a few times, using her pillow as a stand-in for Mr. Gu and giving it a good punching. Only then did she manage to suppress the fire of longing in her heart.
Just as she was about to clean the two inkstones and put them back into her storage ring, her gaze fell on the chipped edges of the inkstones. Suddenly, she seemed to remember something and looked at Qibao with delight:
"Qibao, could you help me restore these two inkstones?"
Huo Sining took out the four pieces of edge material and handed them to Qibao. Qibao compared them with the inkstones and then nodded:
"I can fix them, but we’ll have to do it when we get back."
Huo Sining wasn’t in a hurry; as long as they could be restored, that was enough for her. So she smiled and patted Qibao on the shoulder, saying, "Alright, I’ll leave this task to you. It’s getting late; let’s get some sleep first."
Since she had gone to bed late the night before, when she woke up the next day, it was already past nine in the morning. Su Qingqing and Zhong Xiaoyao had already finished breakfast and were discussing where to go next.
After Huo Sining and Qibao finished breakfast, they joined them, planning to visit the Empire Building and the Statue of Liberty.
However, this plan was disrupted by an unexpected visitor.
At ten o’clock, just as Huo Sining and Qibao were all dressed and ready to call Su Qingqing and the others to set off, there was a knock on the door.
Thinking it was Su Qingqing, Huo Sining hurriedly ran to open the door, only to look up and see Li Jun with his father, Li Yongxin, and uncle, Li Yongqi, standing at the door looking tense. Judging by their expressions, they seemed to have come specifically to find her.
Huo Sining glanced to the side; this time the Li family seemed sensible enough not to bring Li Yu along to apologize. This lightened Huo Sining’s mood considerably. After thinking for a moment, she asked Qibao to go out with Su Qingqing and the others, then led Li Jun and the other two into the room.
"Miss Huo Sining, we came here unannounced. I believe you know our purpose," Li Yongxin said, sitting uncomfortably on the sofa. After all, when this girl was his son’s good friend, he could still assume the role of an elder examining a junior. But now the Li family was asking her for something, which turned the tables, and he could no longer maintain the posture of an elder.
Huo Sining also felt a bit awkward and couldn’t help but laugh, "Uncle Li, you can still call me Xiao Huo. I’m friends with Li Jun, and that won’t change. Even if I end up treating Master Li, my friendship with Li Jun won’t change. So, there’s no need to be so formal; it only makes things uncomfortable."
Li Yongxin was taken aback, apparently not expecting such a change in Huo Sining’s attitude from yesterday. He was suddenly at a loss as to what Huo Sining was thinking.
Huo Sining didn’t explain. Instead, she looked over at Li Jun, who was sitting to the side, raised an eyebrow, smiled, and asked:
"You called just yesterday; now you’re here. Looks like you’ve figured out what I meant."
Li Jun laughed, "With my exceptional intelligence, your question doesn’t stump me. If I didn’t understand your meaning, wouldn’t that mean you’re calling me your friend for nothing?"
Huo Sining nodded, gesturing for him to continue, "Alright then, tell me, what’s your bargaining chip? Let’s see if it can move me."
Li Jun didn’t hesitate, lifting his head to look directly at Huo Sining: "You, Huo Sining, lack neither money nor jewelry or jade artifacts. What you lack is connections."
"From what I understand, a private museum you’re building will be completed soon, but the number of artifacts and antiques you have for exhibition is limited. So, you are eager to acquire more artifacts."
Huo Sining watched Li Jun with a smile, signaling with her eyes for him to continue.
Seeing this, Li Jun knew he guessed correctly, which calmed him greatly, so he continued, "But the artifacts available domestically are either ones you don’t fancy or those you find too expensive. Buying them would require significant funds and wouldn’t be worth it. Therefore, you’ve set your sights on acquiring overseas Huaxia artifacts."
"The artifact exchange agreement you signed with Adrian was for this purpose, which is why, after acquiring an authentic Picasso, you immediately exchanged it with Mr. Earl for a batch of Huaxia artifacts."
"But that’s still not enough. You need more Huaxia artifacts to support your private museum. The quantity you need is enormous, and time is of the essence. You can’t rely on luck to find bargains forever, so you intend to take proactive measures."
"Adrian’s condition for you was to exchange for European artifacts that would interest the Robert family. This is a roundabout method, but for you, it’s the most effective way. Adrian’s collection contains an entire array of Huaxia civilization artifacts that are tempting to you."
"However, you hardly know anyone in the overseas collection circles, and to get in touch with more European artifacts, you must enter that circle or gain more connections. And these are precisely what our Li family doesn’t lack."
After saying this, Li Jun looked at Huo Sining with a smile as if to ask her if what he said was correct.
Huo Sining was quite surprised. She didn’t expect that, despite Li Jun usually appearing careless and ignorant about everything, he was actually quite insightful. Within just one night, he figured out what she needed.
Unconsciously, Huo Sining nodded. It seemed the Li family wasn’t entirely lacking in talent; at least Li Jun was a malleable talent.
"You’re right; I do need connections. But there’s one thing you got wrong," Huo Sining said, looking at Li Jun with a smile.
Li Jun froze and instinctively asked, "Which part?"
Huo Sining replied, "I want to acquire more artifacts not just for my private museum but simply because I don’t want these treasures belonging to Greater China to remain tarnished and lost abroad."
"They belong to Huaxia, so I will do everything in my power to bring them back home."
"Although I know this mission is daunting and that even if I dedicate my life, I may not achieve this goal, bringing back even one more artifact is one fewer lost overseas."
"This is not merely my own wish but also the wish of all Huaxia artifact collectors and even the entire Huaxia Nation!"
