Reborn as the General's Useless Daughter-Chapter 300: Encounter with the Imperial Princes
Sylvandria froze for a moment at the question of marriage, then instinctively glanced toward Alaric Von Seraph. She had never been good at lying, and she certainly couldn’t fabricate something as effortlessly as Zora.
If she slipped up...
Her reaction did not escape Dravenor’s eyes. In an instant, he understood that she wasn’t married for sure.
Perhaps, she was just shy or embarrassed. The third prince quickly prepared another poetic line to impress her.
However, before he could speak a word again, Alaric Von Seraph stood up.
"Sylvandria is my fiancée," he said coolly. "The third Prince should keep his distance."
The words fell cleanly and decisively.
"Hmm?"
At once, Sylvandria’s eyes lit up with unmistakable joy. Whether it was true or not no longer mattered. At this moment, Alaric Von Seraph was willing to step forward and shield her, and that alone made her heart race.
Around them, the restaurant fell into stunned silence.
This... was not how anyone expected the scene to unfold.
One woman, already married, with a child. Another one, already engaged.
Dravenor lifted his gaze slowly, eyes narrowing as they settled on Alaric Von Seraph.
"You say she is your fiancée," he repeated softly. "Then you are her fiancé?" As Dravenor’s words fell, the expressions around the hall shifted once more.
No one had expected that the woman’s fiancé would be sitting right here. For Dravenor to still speak so brazenly, even after learning this, was going far beyond what most people could tolerate.
"The Third Prince has always been domineering," someone muttered quietly. "It’s not unheard of for him to seize women he fancies. Still, today he isn’t even pretending to be upright anymore."
In the past, even when Dravenor set his sights on a woman, he would at least go through some motions, wrapping his actions in courtesy and excuses. Today, however, he could not even be bothered with that thin layer of decorum.
More than a few people looked at Alaric Von Seraph with pity. To have such a stunning fiancée was a blessing, yet now he had run headlong into the royal family’s tyranny. It seemed inevitable that things would end badly.
"Third Prince," Sylvandria said suddenly, her voice steady despite the tension, "Alaric Von Seraph is indeed my fiancé."
Dravenor’s smile turned faintly crooked. "Since he is only your fiancé, not your husband, then nothing is set in stone. This prince has taken a liking to you. Come with me."
The moment those words were spoken, Raphael and the others stood up in unison.
"So this is how the princes of the The Lion Dynasty behave," Raphael said coldly. "Today, we truly have our eyes opened."
Dravenor’s gaze darkened. "You dare speak like this on the Leon Empire’s soil? It seems you no longer value your lives."
The threat in his voice was unmistakable.
At the same time, Ragnor’s eyes drifted back to Zora. The more he looked, the more unsettled he felt. No matter how he examined her, she did not resemble a woman who had borne a child.
He had spent years drifting among women. He trusted his instincts.
Perhaps... Zora had lied to him.
"Miss Zora," Ragnor said slowly, his tone lowering, "you may come back with me first. If you truly have a husband and child, they can naturally come fetch you later."
Better to take her away now and sort it out afterward. If she truly was lying, then at least he would not lose face.
"So," Zora said, her eyes narrowing slightly, cold light flickering within them, "the Second Prince intends to seize even married women by force?"
She had known these two were shameless, but she had not expected them to sink this far.
Alaric Von Seraph and the others had already drawn their weapons. Words clearly would not resolve this. Letting Ragnor take Zora away was absolutely impossible. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"I’ve seen shameless people before," Reesa snapped, fury blazing in her eyes, "but I’ve never seen ones with skin this thick! We already gave you enough face. But neither of you is really worthy of it!"
The faces of Ragnor and Dravenor darkened instantly.
The surrounding onlookers sucked in their breath. This little girl truly dared to speak. Anyone who talked to the princes like this was practically courting death. Yet, strangely enough, many felt that her words rang painfully true.
Seeing the group’s hostile stance, Ragnor sneered. "You dare raise your hands against us? Let’s see how you face the entire Imperial City Guard!"
Zora curled her lips in mockery. "People like you probably have no real strength at all. You only know how to hide behind the so-called Imperial City Guard."
At this point, fear no longer had a place to stand.
As Ragnor and Dravenor heard those words, their expressions plunged into gloom. Zora’s mockery had completely crossed their bottom line. Never in their lives had anyone dared to speak to them like this, let alone with such blatant disdain.
"This prince will show you what power truly is!" Ragnor roared.
He slammed his palm onto the wine table. With a sharp crack, the table split apart, wood fragments scattering in all directions. The sudden burst of force forced Zora and the others to retreat several steps.
Yet the outcome was far from what Ragnor had imagined.
"A cheap trick like this," Zora said lightly, the curve of her red lips deepening in ridicule, "you think it can frighten us?"
Her tone was calm, almost bored, as if she were watching a child throw a tantrum. To her, Ragnor was nothing more than someone who mistook borrowed authority for real strength.
Seeing the scene spiral out of control, the waiter’s face turned pale. He hurried forward and said anxiously, "Second Prince, Third Prince, please remember the rules of Leafway Restaurant. Fighting is not allowed inside the restaurant!"
Ragnor and Dravenor exchanged glances. Suppressing their anger, they turned back toward Zora and the others.
"Get out," Ragnor said coldly.
Zora did not move. Instead, she calmly sat back down in her chair, her posture relaxed. "I don’t feel like going out," she replied. "What are you going to do about it?"
Reesa and the others remained seated as well, clearly unwilling to give the two princes any face. Trouble had already come knocking. There was no point in retreating now. If they were going to offend someone, they might as well offend them thoroughly.
Ragnor was nearly driven mad. In the Leon Empire’s capital, on his own turf, he had never encountered people this arrogant.
"Do you know what you’re doing?" Ragnor’s voice dripped with menace. "In the Lion Dynasty’s territory, daring to offend me like this? I promise you won’t walk out of the Tempest city alive!"
"So scary," Zora said, patting her chest with exaggerated concern. Her face, however, showed not the slightest hint of fear.
The mockery was unmistakable.
At this point, Ragnor and Dravenor were on the verge of exploding. If they still refrained from acting, what dignity would they have left as princes?
Alaric Von Seraph and the others, however, could not help feeling uneasy. The royal family was no ordinary force, and the Lion Dynasty was a major power. If Ragnor truly mobilized royal authority against them, the consequences would be hard to predict.
"Master," Black said quietly, concern flickering in its eyes, "if things go too far, won’t the royal family intervene? The Imperial City Guard is nothing, but if real royal power steps in..."
Zora’s gaze remained cold and steady, without the slightest ripple of worry.
"From the emperor’s perspective, perhaps," she replied calmly. "But Ragnor and Dravenor are still students of Thunderclap Academy. From that angle, this is merely a conflict between the Spirit Warriors of two academies."
She paused briefly, then continued, her tone sharp.
"If the royal family interferes over nothing more than a personal grudge, who would still dare participate in academy exchanges? Where would Thunderclap Academy put its face then? And worst comes to worst, if the Emperor shamelessly gets involved, I will have to use my status as the Princess Consort of the Elysia Empire. In the cultivation world, we deal the matters with strength. But in the material world, where politics matter, a royal family of an empire would know how not to offend another Empire for no good reason, even if Elysia is weaker and smaller compared to this Empire. I just need to be careful, not to kill him or break his bones. Just beating him up and giving superficial injuries would be enough."
Black and White froze, then their eyes lit up. They had to admit it. Their master’s mind was frighteningly clear. Zora indeed thought of everything before acting.
Seen this way, the situation was not as dire as it seemed.
Ragnor clenched his teeth, fury burning in his eyes. "If you fall into my hands," he snarled, "I will make sure you regret ever being born!"
"Really? We’ll have to see whether you are capable of it."
Zora met his gaze head-on, her smile cold and unyielding, like a blade drawn halfway from its sheath.
