Reborn: Earth Online-Chapter 89 - 90: Keep the perks coming
Kaden was in his raven form as he soared through the sky, the wind slicing past his wings. The world below sprawled out endlessly, but Kaden’s gaze was currently fixated on the mountains underneath.
He decided to tackle one of the quests, and he had two spots in mind for this quest. The first was the Bone Pit with the miasma. He could technically use that hostile environment to push himself and his body, but there was another unstable mana zone and extreme environment he had in mind.
A volcano with rivers of molten fire, a place known as the Emberforge Abyss, where the very air shimmered with heat and raw arcane energy. This was both a good place to train and also grind a few levels.
Ultimately, levels gave him the raw strength he needed and he needed to keep the momentum going. Somewhere between level 30 and level 40, he would have enough mana to form a quasi-core and that would give him the next power bump.

Soon he reached the area. Kaden circled closer, scanning the twisted landscape of molten rock and crystalline formations. Glowing lava veins spread like fiery scars across obsidian cliffs.
Kaden dipped lower, folding his raven wings back as he spiraled rapidly toward the molten landscape below. The world blurred into swirls of heat and color, the Emberforge Abyss looming closer, vivid lava flows pulsing like veins beneath him.
He shifted into his human form mid-descent, the familiar rush of adrenaline surging through his chest as he plummeted the last mile toward the jagged ground. Wind tore past his face, and he grinned wildly—the feeling of free-falling was a thrill he’d never tire of.
He landed with an explosive thud, kicking up obsidian dust and tiny sparks from beneath his feet. Instantly, the air around him shimmered with intense heat. He braced himself, fully expecting to be scorched, sweat pouring down within moments.
Yet the burning sensation never came. Instead, a comfortable warmth surrounded him, like stepping into sunlight rather than a volcanic furnace. Confusion rippled through him; was his memory of this place exaggerated, or had something genuinely changed?

The answer pinged into his consciousness almost immediately, accompanied by the satisfying sound of a notification.
[Ding! You have acquired Lesser Fire Resistance.]
Kaden laughed out loud, shaking his head in amazement. He was pretty sure he needed to thank his mutated bloodline for this. First, it was the Poison Resistance and now it was the Fire Resistance.
It looked like his mutated bloodline was not just for show. Having part dragon inside was a gift that kept on giving.
Kaden glanced around, taking in the surreal landscape of the Emberforge Abyss. Streams of lava coursed lazily through deep channels carved into dark obsidian rock, and glowing crystal spires erupted from the ground like fiery sentinels.
Taking a step forward, he could already sense the chaotic mana currents swirling thickly in the air, saturating every breath he took. His mana pathways tingled pleasantly, eager and responsive, almost like they recognized this chaotic power and longed to absorb it.
He grinned, rolling his shoulders, flexing his fingers. If his dragon heritage had unlocked fire resistance, perhaps it could also enhance his ability to harness the abundant mana here.
He moved deeper into the volcanic region when he came across the first native of the region. A low, guttural growl echoed from behind a cluster of molten rocks, followed by the clinking scrape of claws on hardened lava.
From the shadows emerged a fiery salamander-like creature, its scales glowing red-hot, eyes burning with aggression. The creature looked fierce with molten scales glowing fiercely like heated iron, sparks dripping from its body, sizzling softly as they touched the obsidian floor.
A smile spread across Kaden’s face, daring the salamander forward. "Come on, buddy," he called out, voice echoing off volcanic rock. "I need you to help me level up."
The salamander lunged with startling speed, leaving trails of sparks in its wake. Kaden dodged to the side, feeling the searing heat ripple past him—close enough to feel, yet harmless thanks to his newfound fire resistance.
Spinning smoothly, he conjured a thorn spear. Without hesitation, he hurled it forward, aiming directly at the salamander’s glowing chest. The creature snarled and twisted sideways, sparks scattering as the thorn spear grazed its flank, leaving a deep, sizzling gash that oozed molten blood onto the obsidian floor.
Roaring furiously, the salamander recoiled before snapping around to face him again, its heated scales blazing even brighter as it readied itself for another attack. However, Kaden did not intend on wasting time here.
He immediately case a [Sanguine Roots] and arrested the beast in place. As it thrashed widly, thorns and roots catching fire, Kaden darted forward and punched the creature right on its head. Surprisingly, his punch was a lot more effective than his thorn spear. Two punches were enough to put the thing out of misery.
[Ding! You have killed a Emberforge Salamander]
"I need a better weapon or a higher-tier skill." His raw stats were so high that the simple thorn spear was no longer able to keep up. He either needed to upgrade the skill to a higher-tiered skill, if that was even possible or get a better weapon.
The former was difficult because not all skills could simply be upgraded. Ultimately a thorn spear had an upper limit to how strong it could be. The latter was equally difficult. Blacksmiths and weaponsmiths were rare talents and getting one to make a weapon for you was a very expensive process.
Kaden shook his head, deciding to worry about this later. He needed to address the ticking time bomb that was his bloodline first. Everything else had to wait.
He glanced at the defeated salamander, molten blood seeping into the obsidian, slowly cooling into a dark crust. He dug around his head to make sure it did not have a quasi-core lying around and then continued with his run forward.
This area was full of E-rank and D-rank beasts and it was time to see how far he could push himself.
