Chapter 142: The Real Alpha King

No. No. No. Amelia chanted in her head.

Patrick’s wolf rose in the air, and the royal family stood from their places.

Even the kings of the various species and alphas stood in the bleachers to see the legendary moment of defeat of the named monster of the werewolf world, Cyrus Valentino, but what they were more interested in watching was if Patrick would go through with his plan.

Patrick played a dirty trick, and it was laid bare for everyone to see.

Dominic, who had been thinking his son’s goodness would come in the way and he wouldn’t attack Cyrus at the right time, slammed his hand on the armrest, proud of his son.

Cyrus on the ground felt edgier as he saw Patrick’s wolf’s glowing eyes nearing him.

’No. I promised Amelia I would win. This is for my lineage, for my father’s honor, for my wife. I have to fight,’ Cyrus took a deep breath and was ready to move when out of nowhere a flash-like thing shone in the arena.

Everyone shielded their eyes for a brief second.

As soon as they could see, to say they couldn’t believe their eyes would be an understatement.

They saw Patrick’s wolf lying on the side.

Everyone felt their goosebumps rising on their hands and neck as they saw Cyrus standing in the arena, licking the blood on his hand.

He grabbed the mask on his face and threw it on the ground.

Cyrus turned to where Amelia was standing, his eyes a mixture of blue and gold, before he smirked at her.

"Were you afraid, sweetheart?" Cyrus mouthed to her.

Amelia, whose eyes had gone moist, her own mark making her feel like hell, clenched her fists.

Something was wrong. She could feel it in her bones. This was... different. She felt more attached to this person than to herself, like she belonged to him. It was different from her love for him.

However, she didn’t know how to pinpoint it.

Cyrus didn’t walk out of the arena; he looked at Patrick’s wolf, which was whimpering on the side before it stood.

Cyrus licked his lips before he chuckled.

His dark laughter made everyone shudder in their bones.

"Quite a player, aren’t you?" He asked.

Patrick’s wolf growled at Cyrus in anger at being thrown like a toy. Without any warning, the wolf ran towards Cyrus, ready to attack him again.

However, Cyrus just grabbed the wolf by its snout and threw it to the side.

The wolf’s body slamming on the ground made a thud sound before it stood again.

"Rrrrr," The wolf growled at Cyrus, and the man just smirked.

"Come at me like a man, or in your case, like a dog," Cyrus sniggered.

Patrick’s wolf growled at the plain insult and raised its claws as it came to attack again.

Cyrus, already prepared for the attack, grabbed the wolf’s paws and, without any mercy, turned it on the other side.

The wolf’s right leg broke, and its painful howl echoed in the environment.

"Ohh, that must’ve hurt. Do you think I am Cyrus, who will go easy on you because of some useless kinship bond that has only been attacking him in hiding for so long?" Cyrus asked.

Wait. Why was he talking like that?

"Do you think this bond means anything to me?" Cyrus asked before he walked to the wolf that was still howling in pain.

He grabbed the large wolf between his hands and slammed it to the ground.

"You knew I was showing up. You could feel me even before them, yet you dared to disrespect me? Bow before your King!" Cyrus growled, not a manly growl, but one that was similar to an actual wolf.

"This can’t be real," Dominic stumbled back in his seat before slumping down.

It was over. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

As the fitting enemy who has been watching and reading Cyrus’s every move for years, he knew nothing could be done anymore.

Realisation dawned upon him. This wasn’t Cyrus. This wasn’t the man they were prepared to fight.

The beast standing before them was Cyrus’s wolf, who had taken over Cyrus briefly without changing into his wolf form, something only the most high-tier wolves could do.

And this blatant display of his power like this was more than enough to scream to everyone’s face who the Alpha King was here.

That one possibility that they never considered would happen because of Cyrus’s inability to turn into a wolf actually came true.

But why? How?

Dominic turned to the left side of the arena, where Amelia was standing, tears in her eyes, her hands clasped before her.

And then he noticed Cyrus’s gaze repeatedly averting to that girl.

He knew this girl was going to be a hindrance in his plans, but to this level?

Amora widened her eyes. As the former Luna queen, she recognised that energy, that dominance.

Standing before her wasn’t just her grandson Cyrus. It was Sylas.

The Alpha King, the one whose power had been suppressed for years, the named beast everyone thought would never appear, and Cyrus was seeking a remedy for it.

Amora looked at Cyrus, no Sylas, lifting Patrick’s wolf like it weighed nothing, ready to throw him at the fences.

No. She couldn’t let this happen. This face-off wasn’t supposed to end with someone’s death.

"Cyrus Valentino!" Amora used her former Luna Queen’s voice, but to no avail; the man looked like he was going to stop anytime soon.

"Mother! Please save my son, mother. You can’t let this happen. I beg you," Elysia’s cries caught Amora’s attention, and she grabbed her dagger.

Using her Luna queen’s power, she jumped over the fence and went straight to Amelia.

To everyone’s surprise, she placed the knife in Amelia’s hand.

"Stop him. Do anything you have to. You are his wife and a healer. You should know what to do. Right? You can’t let this taint his name for his life and have people call him someone who killed his brother," She said.

Amelia understood what she was trying to say.

She was standing at the side of the entrance, and thus, not many people could see her; however, a few people who saw the former Luna queen coming to the girl suddenly shifted their attention to Amelia.

The Demon Lord, who had arrived to see the face-off and was standing near that side, smirked.

This girl again. He wondered what she was going to do. Why was the former Luna queen coming at her, and why the hell was she talking to this girl when she should be stopping the bloodbath from happening?

Amelia knew Amora had given her this dagger to pretend to be a healer so that no one would suspect their relationship, and the queen’s trials would proceed without any problems.

She felt used. She raised her brows at the Luna Queen.

Her mark had already been hurting her like hell, and something inside her exploded.

This was blatant disrespect to her position as Cyrus’s wife, and she wasn’t going to allow that. She was prepared for the trials and ready to win them.

"Sylas!" Amelia raised her voice, her gaze fixated on Amora.

Amora’s pupils dilated. This girl... this healer... rather than doing what she was told, how dare she challenge her like that?

"Have you lost your mind?" Amora asked.

However, to everyone’s surprise, the angry man in the arena, who had been acting beastly, let go of the wolf immediately.

He turned to Amelia.

Amelia smiled at Amora darkly and then turned to Cyrus.

"I think you proved your point. They know who the King is. Calm down," Amelia said.

Amelia thought that Sylas would never make a fool of her in front of everyone. They had that kind of silent pact between them.

And thus, she was confident he would stop if she said so.

However, Sylas had other plans in mind.

He looked at her as if he were trying to decipher something.

Realization dawned upon Amelia. What if he was mad about her meeting with Kyle earlier? This would make things even worse.

Rather than calming down, he would try to take his anger out on something or someone. She gulped and stepped back.

Amora looked at the girl, a confused expression on her face.

"What are you—?" Amora started with furrowed brows, her pupils dilating when she suddenly saw Amelia turning around and running.

Yes. Rather than comforting the man, she ran.

Sylas, who saw this, smirked.

"Well, I don’t think I need to stay here for the face-off results, right? The results are before you," Sylas raised his hands.

And then, without a warning, he jumped from the large fences of the arena, surprising everyone.

They saw him running towards the former Luna queen, and they thought he was going there for the praises of his grandmother, but Sylas’s gaze was fixated on the direction Amelia ran.

Amora finally realised why Amelia did that. The girl knew he would run behind her, and this way, Patrick would live.

Patrick’s wolf changed back into his human form, and everyone winced at the sight.

He was brutally battered.

Sylas looked at the girl who sat in the car and urged the cab driver to start the vehicle.

He smirked at her.

Did she really think she could run?
