Chapter 182: Take Action

In the secluded caves of the Artery Mountains, a particular hut was eerily chaotic as the sound of something breaking inside echoed outside, making the sleeping birds fly away.

"She did it, Mom. That wretched woman, despite my efforts, mated with those two. How dare she? How dare she mate with them when I am here, standing between her happiness and her?" the demonic energy screeched.

The energy was angry, radiating with a red, undefined aura. The witch could see it, and the more she looked at it, the more troubled she felt.

They knew this wasn’t good. If Amelia had already mated with both of her mates at the same time, it meant she was one step closer to unlocking her mage’s powers, or probably already onto it.

It also meant...

The witch raised her hand, and a crystal globe appeared in the center of the hall.

"Show me the mage rock," the witch said to the globe before chanting a locator spell.

The globe began rotating rapidly before coming to a stop; the position of the mage rock then zoomed in on the crystal globe automatically.

The witch walked closer to the globe and looked at the glass that showed the current situation of the mage rock.

Her pupils dilated in shock and surprise.

The mage rock that used to heal in cm was more than half healed within a few hours.

Amelia didn’t just take a step; she leaped more than she should.

The witch gritted her teeth in annoyance and anger.

"We must stop this from happening. If the mage rock healed completely, everything we have worked so far for our revenge would be futile," the witch said.

The demonic energy swirled in the air before stopping right before the witch.

"We must? Must? What the hell have you been doing if you couldn’t find such basic tricks? Why didn’t you inform me Amelia was getting closer to the mates tonight? I would’ve stopped it anyhow!" The demonic energy seethed in anger.

The witch bowed in shame.

"I am sorry. I was distracted—" the witch started, but the demonic energy just laughed like a maniac, her laughter like a thorn to the ears.

"Distracted? Are you going soft on those mages, Mom? Have you forgotten what they did to us? To me? What caused me? Is this revenge only mine? Is this what it is?" The energy swirled and formed a girl’s figure, the face hidden behind a hood.

The witch shook her head.

"Never. I would never..." The witch shook her head, unable to complete the sentence.

The girl walked to the witch and placed a dagger in her hands.

"Then kill her, Mom. That’s our only way out to complete the ritual we started centuries ago. We already did it once; we need to do it again to erase our humiliation from history forever, to erase these morons forever," the girl said, and the witch nodded.

The witch turned the globe, her hands wrapping around the crystal before she closed her eyes.

"Let it stay wherever it is. Let it return to its original position like it was on the first ray of sunlight of the day," she whispered.

As soon as the witch said those words, the mage rock that had healed more than half turned back to how it was, cracking once again.

The mage rock held great significance in telling the mages how close they were getting their powers back, and there was no way she would let them have that hope until their work was done.

"Let them stay in the dark," the witch said.

The girl nodded. Though things slipped, it was still something she could make right.

However, it was more critical to seclude Amelia and kill her now.

In the Grand Palace, Amelia stirred in her sleep, her throat drying as she woke up from a vivid dream of being lost in a dark realm with no way out.

As soon as she opened her eyes abruptly, the first person she saw was Kyle, who had a concerned expression on his face.

Something was bothering him. It was written all over his face.

Her brows furrowed, and she blinked her eyes a few times to remove the haze of sleep.

"What’s wrong? Did something happen when I was asleep?" She asked.

Kyle cupped her cheeks, looking at her with affection and love before he shook his head.

"Nothing, sweetheart. It’s just... You gave us the biggest happiness of our life today by accepting us both, and I was worried how long you would be out for," Kyle said.

He had so many things to tell her, to ask her, and more than that, to express. However, he felt that it could wait for some time. There was no need to rush things.

A smile appeared on Amelia’s face that quickly turned into a scowl when she tried to move. Her body ached, like it had been run over by a truck.

"I am up for a massage," Kyle added, and Amelia shook her head at him.

He was really something.

Their moment was interrupted when Cyrus walked inside the room with a bowl of soup, and Amelia tried to sit.

"Why are you bringing it? I could go down to eat," Amelia said.

Cyrus smiled at her before sitting on her left side so he could feed her.

Seeing her little form, confused and cautious, made him feel relaxed.

Only he knew how troubled he had felt when he heard the news of a Luna dying in the participants’ chambers.

He and Kyle were still in the Royal Palace sorting things out when they heard of it. Fabian told him Luna was found covered in blood, her throat sliced.

The news spread like wildfire among the staff, prompting Amora to ask people to investigate, as the participants’ chambers were under the palace’s security and she was responsible for it in Grayson’s absence.

He didn’t care whose responsibility it was. The fact that Amelia could’ve been the one to get hurt if they hadn’t made her stay in the Grand Palace was what irked him.

The investigation was ongoing, and one of the Lunas was a prime suspect, but he knew there was more to the story.

Why? Because, for some reason, the CCTV cameras didn’t capture anything, not even the footage of the dying Luna right in front of them.

There was no technical error, no maltreatment, or someone putting a film before it like they show in the movies. So, unless something or someone magically tampered with their footage, it was impossible.

And if it was magical, it meant Amelia was probably the target.

He wanted to share this with his brother, but knowing how short-tempered he was when it came to Amelia, he didn’t want his brother to rush to the participants’ chambers and cause a ruckus.

"Dominic has been put under observation and would probably be exiled after his grandfather returns. Lilithia has been sent to the dungeons," Cyrus said out of the blue.

Amelia raised her brows, surprised.

"When did all of this happen?" She asked Kyle for answers.

"Well, it turns out Dominic was the one who attacked Grandpa," Cyrus said.

Amelia nodded, her calmness confusing Cyrus.

"You are acting like you knew," he said.

Amelia looked at him before shaking her head.

"Not really. It’s just that I’m not surprised. He seemed evil on my first day here," she reasoned.

Cyrus sighed and caressed her head, telling her to rest.

"It’s going to be a long day tomorrow. Sleep after eating this," Cyrus told her, and she nodded with a smile.

With her aching body, she didn’t want to do anything else.
