Chapter 199: Two Kings?

In the Palace of the Werewolf Kingdom, everything was in chaos. The maids and servants were moving around hastily, ordered to make the necessary preparations for the funeral.

Fabian had already released an official notice through Cyrus’s laptop, informing the council of Dominic’s sudden demise, which was intended for publication on the official forum to notify all alphas and packs.

They chose a more dignified reason, such as a disease, rather than revealing the actual cause of the incident to spare the royal family and Patrick some embarrassment.

Lilithia was pulled out of the dungeons and allowed to take a fresh bath for the funeral while Rosaline tried her best to comfort Elysia, despite her pain of losing her elder and only brother.

Patrick, though shaken from the sudden news, didn’t show such symptoms of sadness and stayed at the Bentley estate, only leaving the estate when he heard the news of the cremation.

Cyrus’s stride was dominating and challenging as he entered the royal palace, followed by Trevor and Kyle by his side.

He looked at Fabian, who had been looking over the preparations, and once the man nodded, they moved to the royal graveyard together.

Patrick was one of the men who volunteered to pick up his father’s coffin. According to him, this was his last duty to his son.

Elysia’s scream of helplessness and sadness could be heard from the royal hall.

The area had already been dug, and as the thunder echoed in the sky paired with lightning, Cyrus looked at the coffin.

It was his wish for Fabian and Patrick to do everything necessary before he arrived at the palace because he wasn’t sure he would be able to keep his wolf from shredding this man’s body to pieces after what he did to his wife.

As immoral as it sounded, Patrick could understand, and he had performed all the rituals beforehand. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Cyrus took a deep breath before nodding at Brandon. They began pouring soil over the coffin, one by one, once it was placed in the dug hole.

"It’s saddening that neither Dad nor Mom could attend their elder son’s cremation," Rosaline said.

Once the council ended offering the soil, Cyrus looked at others who followed the ritual.

"Cyrus," Patrick looked at Cyrus.

"No." Cyrus denied offering soil to this man.

"Cover it," he simply ordered, and the workers were about to move when they heard a shrill shout.

"I dare you to cover my son with that soil!" Amora’s angry voice echoed.

Cyrus turned to his grandmother, who had gained consciousness despite the doctors giving her drugs to keep her unconscious for a while.

However, this time he didn’t shy away from her angry gaze. There was so much in his head, so much his wife suffered, that he was ready to fight the moon goddess to provide justice to her.

Cyrus looked into her eyes head-on.

"What do you want?" His voice came harsher, and Rosaline grabbed Cyrus’s hand.

"Cy, this is no way to talk to your grandmother. She is mourning her son’s loss. You have to understand her anger and pain." Rosaline said.

Cyrus looked at his aunt, a soft, mocking smirk stretching on his lips.

"Always the middleman, aren’t you?" He asked before he turned to Amora.

"Didn’t you hear me? What do you want?" He asked.

Amora snarled at him in anger.

"I want justice for my son, King Cyrus! I want execution for this man who killed my son brutally. You shall provide justice to a mother, your highness." She spat the words "king" and "highness" like they were venom, and Cyrus’s smirk widened.

"No. I am not punishing anyone," he said.

Amora’s lips trembled in sheer anger and disrespect.

Though she was old, it didn’t mean she wasn’t the former Luna Queen, the one who ruled the nation of the wolves beside Grayson for decades, reigning that throne with her steel-like grip.

"What did you say?" She asked.

Her wolf started surfacing, her eyes turning amber.

Cyrus didn’t speak this time.

"You are angering my wolf now, Cyrus. You know this won’t turn out well for either of us," Amora warned Cyrus.

Cyrus was about to speak when someone beat him to it, and everyone turned in the direction, utterly shocked.

"I would like to see that," Grayson’s demanding and dominating voice pierced the air like a thunder strike as he looked at his wife’s unreasonable anger.

Amora looked at Grayson in surprise, her anger turning to shock.

How was this... Didn’t the doctor say he wouldn’t wake up so soon? Then...

She was beyond happy to see her husband standing there looking a bit weak but stable, and tears brimmed in her eyes.

Her sense of justice strengthened now that she thought her husband was here to back her up, and she walked to him.

"Grayson," She cupped his cheeks, and the man smiled at the woman before his brows furrowed.

Cyrus looked at his grandfather in mild shock. He had gone to the doctor earlier to hear about his condition, and the doctor had indeed informed him that a miracle had occurred overnight, causing him to heal so fast. However, they expected him to wake up in a couple of days, not in a couple of hours.

"How are you feeling, Mr. Grayson?" Brandon, the council’s head, walked to Grayson, and the man nodded in return.

"Can a man with Amelia as his granddaughter-in-law really remain sick for long?" He asked.

Everyone looked at him in confusion, especially Amora.

"Amelia gave me her golden healing blood this morning, asking the doctor to promise her not to tell anyone until I was alright. She thought she wouldn’t live another day and wanted to do one good thing for Cyrus before dying," Grayson said.

His words made Cyrus clench his jaws, but he didn’t say anything otherwise while Amora stumbled back in shock.

She looked at the coffin of her son, then remembered how they found Amelia in that forest, and couldn’t help but gulp.

Was the justice she was looking for really not reasonable? Her thoughts wavered a bit after hearing what Grayson said.

"Since my grandmother is so keen on finding justice for her son, Dominic Bentley, I have no right to keep it hidden," Cyrus said.

He turned to Fabian before clapping his hands.

Fabian nodded and brought a laptop, inserting the pen drive and connecting it to the screen, which was showing a live funeral to everyone gathered for the cremation ceremony.

There were several videos on the drive. The first video immediately played. It contained how brutally Dominic tortured Amelia in the forest, screaming how he wanted to ruin Cyrus by using this video.

Amora’s pupils dilated in shock when she noticed the extent to which her son went to hurt that girl.

The council members looked at each other, surprised. The most surprised were Ethan and Cameron, who thinned their lips.

The second video revealed the injustices Dominic had committed, including his repeated collusion with rogues to destroy everyone and his use of underhanded tactics to secure contracts from Grayson.

If the first two videos shocked everyone, to say the third video made them nearly fall on their knees from embarrassment and shock would be an understatement.

The third video contained Dominic torturing a woman in a cell, calling her a beast he tamed and his ace card, while he repeatedly raped her and beat her to bleed her dry, repeating the process for years.

It wasn’t hard to recognize who that woman was once the camera pointed to her face, and Grayson, who always considered Gloria as his daughter, stumbled back in shock, falling on the ground, his fingers trembling.

Amora’s heart skipped a beat, and she rushed to the side before vomiting. Her heart couldn’t believe this was her son. No. This wasn’t her son. This was a monster she couldn’t recognise.

Elysia looked at the footage in shock, tears rolling down her face. Her gaze shifted to Patrick, who had disgust written all over his face.

Yes. She knew about all this. She learned about Dominic’s trump ace card and what happened in those hidden dungeons. However, she never made a noise because she was afraid of losing Dominic.

And now looking at Patrick’s expression, it was clear she lost not only her husband but also her son.

Patrick was the one who aided Cyrus’s people in scouring Bentley Estate, forcing Dominic’s most trusted man to reveal the secrets.

It was his way of making at least a few things right and apologizing to Cyrus and his wife.

"My wife didn’t abandon the trial because she feared losing. She went there to save my mother, someone everyone failed to protect. And she is there." Cyrus said.

A new video showed footage from the hospital’s live camera where Gloria was being treated. And another piece of footage showed Amelia’s sleeping form.

"So let me ask you, Amora Evercrest, what kind of justice are you exactly looking for? You want me to kill this man, Kyle, for killing your son? Well, my bad, I can’t kill my brother for something I would’ve done in the worst way," Cyrus said.

Everyone looked at Kyle with surprise.

Brother?

Does that mean... he was the other son that...

Grayson walked ahead and pulled Kyle’s shirt down, and just like he remembered, there was that faint trident mark on the side of his chest.

His eyes teared up, and without waiting for any permission, he pulled Kyle in for a hug.

Kyle looked at Cyrus, and when the latter nodded, he wrapped his hands around Grayson.

"I am sorry, son. I couldn’t protect you," Grayson said.

Kyle’s heart skipped a beat.

These words... He didn’t know he yearned to hear these words so badly until Grayson said it. All his life, he had been searching for one person who would take accountability for the injustices he suffered in those orphanages and the houses where he was sold. Today, when Grayson did, he couldn’t control his tears anymore.

For the first time, Kyle cried, hugging someone.

Grayson could feel his pain and anger with the family through the hug and couldn’t help but feel like he failed his younger son’s family completely.

He promised Sebastian that he would protect everyone, but he could defend none.

Not his wife, not his son, who kept getting bullied by his uncle, not his other son, who lived such a harsh life.

He failed his promise. Grayson pulled away before turning around, not being able to control his tears anymore.

"This kingdom will have two kings. I will hold a grand ceremony to welcome this news in the palace," Grayson said.

Kyle looked at Cyrus, wanting to say something, but seeing how everyone was, he didn’t want to ruin their happiness.

He just looked at them and sighed.

If only he could become a werewolf king. It wasn’t possible.
