Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man-Chapter 121 - 54: In the Future, Don’t Wash Your Hair During Special Times
Seeing her rigid demeanor, Qin Mei opened her mouth to offer some reassurance, but thought better of it. "If it’s too painful and you can’t stand it, take the rolling pin and bite down on it. Don’t just tough it out. It’s hard to treat a bitten-off tongue."
Jie Jingshan heard Qin Mei’s words, but she didn’t grasp their full implication.
Qin Mei rolled Jie Jingshan’s pant leg up to her thigh. Afraid Jie Jingshan wouldn’t be able to handle it, she gave up on her initial, more aggressive plan and chose to start with the thigh.
Taking out the silver needles, Qin Mei didn’t rush to insert them. Instead, she looked at Jie Jingshan. "Jing Qi, today’s needling will be different. It will be painful. Very painful."
"I’m not afraid of pain," Jie Jingshan said again, her voice unwavering.
"Xiao Mei, Jing Qi’s legs... can’t feel pain," Mrs. Xie said, choosing her words carefully.
"Jing Qi, once I start the treatment, you have to endure it, no matter how painful it gets," Qin Mei urged.
"Alright." Jie Jingshan nodded gravely.
Seeing this, Qin Mei felt it was best not to say anything more. ’If they don’t take this seriously, I’ll just sound like a nag.’
Qin Mei no longer hesitated. As the first needle went in, Jie Jingshan’s composure shattered. She grit her teeth, forcing herself not to cry out.
Watching Jing Qi endure the pain, Mrs. Xie was dumbfounded. Jing Qi’s legs had been numb for four years. If it weren’t for the physical therapy that had maintained her muscle mass, her legs would have completely atrophied.
"Jing Qi, where does it hurt?" Mrs. Xie asked urgently, holding her breath as she waited for Jie Jingshan’s reply.
"My leg... AHHHH!" Jie Jingshan cried out, her hands gripping the bedsheets tightly. The spot where Qin Mei had inserted the needle was excruciating. Her legs wouldn’t move, but the sensation of pain shot straight to her brain.
Mrs. Xie was beyond excited. Her face broke into an ecstatic smile, even as tears fell from the corners of her eyes.
In that moment, she finally understood what Qin Mei meant by a glimmer of hope. And she now believed without a doubt that Qin Mei could really cure Jing Qi’s legs.
"Jing Qi!" Hearing Jie Jingshan’s agonized scream, Jie Jingjue burst into the room.
"Get out," Qin Mei roared.
Seeing Jie Jingshan in what looked like unbearable agony, Jie Jingjue wanted to rush over to confront Qin Mei, to push her away and save Jing Qi.
"Jing Wu." Seeing Qin Mei treating Jing Qi with such a serious expression, Jie Jingchen grabbed Jie Jingjue’s shoulder, dragged him out of the room, and shut the door.
"Jing Chen, didn’t you see? Jing Qi is in agony!" Jie Jingjue raged, his eyes bloodshot.
"Shut up," Jie Jingchen said, his voice cold as he shot Jie Jingjue a cutting glare. "I trust her."
"Jing Chen," Jie Jingjue snarled, glaring at his brother. Because of the miscarriage, he was convinced Qin Mei had cheated on Jing Chen and had been secretly pregnant. He saw her as a woman of terrible character who had betrayed his brother, and he was certain Jing Chen’s trust was blind. "She betrayed you, yet you still trust her blindly! You’re going to be the death of Jing Qi!"
"I said, shut up!" Jie Jingchen snapped, a cold light flashing in his eyes. ’If Jing Wu were more dependable, and if he weren’t involved with Bai Aiyun, I might have told him the truth by now.’
As Qin Mei inserted the third needle, she spoke to Mrs. Xie. "Ma’am, the rolling pin."
Mrs. Xie snapped back to her senses, grabbed the rolling pin, and placed it by Jie Jingshan’s mouth. "Jing Qi, bite down."
Jie Jingshan didn’t refuse. She opened her mouth and bit down hard on the rolling pin. ’It hurts. It hurts so much.’
The pain was overwhelming, yet her legs remained immobile. The sensation was pure torture, an agony beyond words.
The pain was so intense that Jie Jingshan’s upper body began to tremble uncontrollably, and beads of sweat slicked her forehead.
"Ma’am, hold her," Qin Mei said, her voice crisp and her expression focused.
Mrs. Xie, feeling both excited and pained for her daughter, obeyed each of Qin Mei’s commands like a machine.
She was a doctor with exceptional mental fortitude, but faced with the scene before her, she had lost all her composure and was completely flustered.
