Reborn in the 80s: She Rewrites Life with Radiance-Chapter 81 Exam
Chapter 81: Chapter 81 Exam
"Could you please put away that sleazy smile? It’s really affecting my appetite."
Even though Gu Yi felt a bit embarrassed, she knew she couldn’t show it in front of Li Yitian. Otherwise, this guy would mock her even more.
She brought two bowls and filled one with soup, handing it to Li Yitian.
"Drink the soup quickly."
"I won’t drink it. This is the love soup that Brother Ye Hao prepared for you to nourish your body. How could I drink it?"
Li Yitian stepped back and waved his hand at Gu Yi.
"Just drink it. There’s a lot. I can’t finish it all by myself, and it won’t taste good tomorrow."
"Alright, then I’ll reluctantly do you this favor."
The aroma was just too enticing, so Li Yitian didn’t hold back. After all, he was the one who picked the ingredients early in the morning at the market and got his friend’s restaurant to have it cooked. It was like his hard-earned wage.
Gu Yi didn’t pay him any attention and went off to eat her soup by herself.
Li Yitian followed her with his bowl and sat down beside her.
"How many days until the exams?"
"Soon, just next week."
"How’s your revision going?"
"I don’t know yet, I’ll have to wait until the results come out to know."
Though Gu Yi felt confident about herself, she’s always wary of unexpected situations, so she reserved her words.
After finishing her soup, Gu Yi poured the remaining soup into her bowl, washed the clay pot, and set it to dry on the side before going back to her books.
"Alright then, you get busy. I won’t disturb your study any longer. Make some rice for tomorrow’s lunch, and I’ll bring some dishes over."
Seeing he couldn’t do much more, Li Yitian left with the clay pot.
The next day Li Yitian came again, bringing the same clay pot as yesterday, filled with fish soup. He also packed two fried dishes with it.
He continued this routine every day until the day before Gu Yi’s exam, each time bringing soup and dishes of different kinds.
"Thanks, Yitian. You’ve gone through all this trouble these past few days. Don’t bring anything tomorrow. Once my exams are over, I’ll come to find you and treat you to a meal."
"Sure, I’m finally off the hook. Brother Ye Hao asks me every night about your day-to-day, but he’s too afraid to disturb you, so he annoys me every day,"
Though Li Yitian spoke in a seemingly disgusted manner, Gu Yi knew he genuinely wanted to help her and didn’t want her to express gratitude. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of delivering food every day.
In the afternoon, Gu Yi went to the Art College to retrieve her exam admission ticket and to find her exam venue.
That evening, Ye Hao also gave her a call.
"Yiyi, it’s Ye Hao."
"Yes, I know, this shows your number."
"The exam is tomorrow. Get some rest early tonight. Don’t be nervous in the exam hall tomorrow; keep a calm mind. I’m sure you’ll be fine."
"Yeah, I know. I’ve done so many practice questions not for nothing, plus I have you as my teacher."
Gu Yi was anything but humble in front of Ye Hao.
Ye Hao, on the other side of the phone, could imagine Gu Yi’s proud little face right now. He unconsciously grinned, and any tension he initially had vanished completely.
"Good, as long as you’re not nervous. The deployment orders have been approved, and the accommodations are assigned. Are you coming after this exam, or after the next round of exams?"
"So soon? I’ll see here first. I’ll wait a couple of days for the results. If I pass, I’ll need to prepare my artwork. If not, I’ll come over in a few days. What do you think?"
"Alright, from what you are saying, it’ll probably take over half a month for you to come. Even though I miss you, we don’t need to rush this time, do we?"
"Had some sugar today, didn’t you? Your words are so sweet. I miss you too, and I haven’t even thanked you for having Yitian deliver the soups to me."
"Was it good?"
"Hmm, it was okay. If you cooked it yourself, it’d surely taste even better."
"Then you come to the base, and I’ll make it for you by hand, how about that?"
Ye Hao’s words came out with a somewhat enticing undertone even to himself.
On the phone, Gu Yi couldn’t help but laugh as she imagined Ye Hao wearing an apron.
"Alright then, get some rest early tonight. I’ll come and see you when I get some leave."
Finally, Ye Hao checked the time and urged Gu Yi to rest.
After hanging up, Ye Hao returned to his office. There was some urgent paperwork that needed to be submitted, keeping him working overtime every night.
He called Li Yitian late at night, which was why Li Yitian harbored a bit of resentment.
Gu Yi felt quite at ease. She packed the stuff needed for tomorrow, did some yoga, and then took a shower before going to sleep.
Early the next morning, Gu Yi got up.
After freshening up, she even cooked herself some breakfast before heading out to school.
Since she already found the venue yesterday, she went straight to the exam site today.
By the time she arrived, it wasn’t too early, and there were already quite a few people in the classroom.
A quick glance showed mostly girls, varying in ages; some looked particularly young, while most appeared to be around her age.
She found her seat and sat down.
In front of her sat a rather pretty girl, and there was another girl behind her with a cute round face.
"How old are you?"
She had just sat down when someone behind her tapped her seat, and when Gu Yi turned around, the girl asked her.
"I’m 20."
"You’re two years older than me, but you look even younger than I do. I’m Wang Yuan. Doesn’t my name match my body perfectly? What’s your name?"
"I’m Gu Yi."
"Your name sounds nice too. When I first learned to write, I wanted to change my name to Wang Yi, but my dad didn’t let me. Since you are older than me, I’ll call you Sister Yi Yi."
Wang Yuan seemed to have found a soulmate, pulling Gu Yi into an enthusiastic conversation.
Gu Yi, who was usually slow to warm up, found Wang Yuan’s sincere friendliness immediately bridging the gap between them.
However, it wasn’t long before the teacher brought in the test papers.
Gu Yi quickly sat upright.
In the morning, they had to take Chinese and math exams, and in the afternoon, there was an English exam.
After the Chinese exam, Gu Yi stood up to go to the bathroom, and Wang Yuan stood up as well.
"Sister Yi Yi, are you going to the bathroom? Let’s go together."
"Sure."
Gu Yi thought Wang Yuan wanted to go with her to compare answers, but on the way, she just talked about other things, showing no interest in checking answers.
Wang Yuan didn’t discuss the exam, and Gu Yi was happy to relax. Knowing the answers, right or wrong, after the exam wouldn’t change anything, and if she didn’t do well, it might affect her performance in the next test.
This realization made Gu Yi even more inclined to stay around Wang Yuan.
Sometimes, the friendships between girls start out of nowhere. Once they click, the friendship kicks in.
When they returned to the classroom, it wasn’t long before the math exam started.
Having practiced a lot, Gu Yi found the difficulty level of this paper moderate and felt good working through it.
After handing in her paper, she and Wang Yuan left the classroom together.
"Which way are you headed? I need to go to the back entrance."
Gu Yi asked upon leaving.
"I’m heading to the front. Then, Sister Yi Yi, see you in the afternoon."
After greeting each other, they went their separate ways home.
