Chapter 901: Chapter 895: Conversation between Two Brothers_1

Qin Xue was still deep in conversation with Nangong Beiying, completely unaware of the chaos unfolding at home. Chu Xiaoqiao cradled Yu Chen, who was crying so hard he could hardly catch his breath. Everyone was at a loss as to why he was acting this way. Upon waking up, he couldn’t stop crying and refused to eat his rice cereal. He just cried.

Xue Ling took the distressed child from Chu Xiaoqiao’s arms and laid him next to Yu Ze. He effectively shooed Chu Xiaoqiao and An Hao out of the room.

“Listen, Chu Nanchun, if you continue crying, I will make sure you never see your mother again. Don’t believe me? Try it.” After speaking his mind to Yu Chen, Xue Ling turned to Yu Ze, knowing that he could understand his words.

“Yu Chen, Fox Fairy says if you don’t stop crying and refusing to eat, you won’t be able to see mom anymore, and I will get to,” Yu Ze dutifully took on the task of translating for his brother.

“Big brother, why isn’t mom back yet? I’m hungry, and I don’t want to eat that tasteless mush,” Yu Chen whimpered, looking at Yu Ze with teary eyes that threatened to spill over at any moment. He looked utterly pitiful.

“Mom had to go out, and you can’t cry anymore. You need to eat and fill up your tummy. Otherwise, mom will blame herself when she comes back,” Yu Ze gazed at his younger brother guiltily. He had been fed and satisfied before their mother left, so he wasn’t hungry. The same couldn’t be said for Yu Chen, though.

...

“Why isn’t mom back yet?” Yu Chen’s voice quivered as he fought back his tears.

“I don’t know,” Yu Ze didn’t understand why their mother, who had left to take food to their father, was taking so long to return. He missed her too.

“Are you done crying now? Let’s eat quickly. Once you’re full, I’ll teach you a mantra,” Xue Ling looked at his little charge who had finally stopped shedding tears and brought the rice cereal over to feed him.

Yu Chen stared pitifully at Xue Ling. He didn’t want to eat, but he was starving. What was he supposed to do? Eventually, the rumblings of his stomach got the better of him, and he reluctantly opened his mouth to eat the rice cereal that Xue Ling was feeding him.

Neither Chu Xiaoqiao nor An Hao could figure out how Yu Chen, who was sobbing uncontrollably just a moment ago, had suddenly stopped crying. They admitted that was an impressive feat.

“An Hao, what do you think my sister-in-law and my big brother could be talking about for so long? Do they really have so much to discuss?” Chu Xiaoqiao asked, puzzled.

“Xiaoqiao, some married couples have endless conversations, while others have nothing to say to each other. I’m sure your brother and sister-in-law are part of the former, especially given that they can only see each other once a week—so they must have a lot more to say. You’ll understand when you have a partner of your own,” mused An Hao, although she didn’t entirely believe that they could have so much to talk about.

Never mind anything else, Chu Xiaoqiao figured that only Qin Xue could tolerate her big brother’s reticence. Otherwise, she really couldn’t fathom how the two of them managed to get along.

Although she had noticed her big brother’s adoration of Qin Xue, she had never actually seen him initiate conversation.

An Hao’s erroneous presumption was due to her lack of understanding of Qin Xue’s and Chu Molin’s relationship. Anyone who truly loved somebody would be willing to give everything for them. What could be so difficult about having a few conversations?

“Really? Is it like that?” Chu Xiaoqiao was somewhat clueless about what An Hao meant. She thought maybe you needed to be like An Hao said and wait until you were in a relationship to understand.

“Yes, indeed. Things related to emotions can be complex and straightforward at the same time. On the other hand, they can drive a person to the point of insanity. Just think about it; can you decipher matters of the heart?” An Hao patted her on the shoulder, then went back to practicing her makeup skills.

After mulling it over for a while and failing to make sense of it, Chu Xiaoqiao stopped thinking about it. Instead, she went back to the kitchen—she still needed to finish chopping carrots.
