Chapter 30 - 30: Shed

Caelen stepped outside, stretching his arms as the morning sun warmed the soil. The air felt fresh after last night's light rain. He walked over to the small field where he planted corn. The stalks were growing tall.

"Almost there," Caelen muttered. He crouched down and examined the soil, then placed his hand over the ground.

"Let's try this again... Earth Magic: Fertility of the Land."

A soft green light flowed through his hand and into the soil. The corn shimmered slightly.

[System: Earth Magic Used — Growth Accelerated Slightly]

He nodded, satisfied. "Won't be long now."

Back at the drill, he checked the depth counter.

[System: Drill Progress — 50m Left]

"Still halfway to go," he sighed. "That mythril better be worth it."

He rubbed his neck, then glanced at the supplies stacked near his house. Between firewood, tools, and extra food, things were piling up fast.

"This is getting crowded."

[Result: Use logs, planks, and rope. Keep it away from water. Can store non-perishables and tools.]

With a plan forming, he called for Zira and the goblin kids.

"Hey, I'm building a shed. Want to help?" freewebnoveℓ.com

Zira nodded and handed a bowl to the younger goblin boy. "Let's help Caelen, then we'll finish breakfast."

They gathered nearby logs and began setting up the frame. Caelen used earth magic to flatten the ground. Zira passed him some thick rope.

"Here," she said. "These should hold the beams."

The younger goblins helped carry smaller planks. Caelen couldn't help but smile at how well they all worked together.

[System: Building Progress — 32%]

While working, Zira wiped her brow. "Your magic's improving."

"Still testing what I can do," Caelen replied. "It's weird, but useful."

They hammered in the last few planks and stepped back.

Later that afternoon, Caelen wandered into the woods, looking for good timber. Zira followed behind, carrying a small hatchet. The kids stayed back, sorting tools into the new shed.

Not far from the shed, Caelen paused. There was a patch of golden stalks growing low to the ground. They swayed gently in the breeze. He stepped closer and knelt down.

"This looks familiar..."

[Search: What is this plant?]

[Google: Plant detected — Similar to wheat. Native name: Krawin grass. Can be ground into flour.]

His eyes lit up.

"So it's edible?"

[Google: Yes. Can be used to make bread, noodles, or cakes.]

"Perfect."

Zira tilted her head. "What did you find?"

"A local version of wheat."

She blinked. "What's wheat?"

Caelen smiled. "Something that makes food even better. You'll see."

Back at the house, he stored the samples of Krawin grass and updated his resource list. He also took a quick look at the furnace, noticing the metal around the opening was slightly warped.

"Time for an upgrade."

[Search: How to upgrade stone furnace?]

[Result: Reinforce with iron plating. Use clay for insulation.]

Caelen got to work melting some leftover iron ore. As the furnace heated, he used earth magic to shape clay around the frame. Then, he carefully placed the molten metal, hardening it with cold water.

[System: Furnace Upgraded — Higher Heat Efficiency]

He wiped sweat off his face. "Much better."

Inside the house, he looked around. There were still too many things scattered. He reshaped the door using thicker wood, reinforced the hinges, and added a better lock system.

Night fell. Everyone gathered near the new shed, sitting on simple wooden stools. Zira handed out bowls of stew made from dried meat and wild herbs.

"Once the corn's done, we'll make something nice," Caelen said.

"Like what?" asked the goblin girl.

"Noodles," he replied with a grin.

Zira tilted her head. "What are noodles?"

"You'll find out."

He leaned back, looking up at the stars. A thought crossed his mind.

So far... everything's working out.

He still had secrets. His magic. The system. The search engine in his head. No one knew, and he had no plans to tell. For now, he was just Caelen — builder, farmer, protector.

And maybe... something more.
