Reborn in the Survival Adventure Game-Chapter 36: Mythril and a New Face
Chapter 36 - 36: Mythril and a New Face
The morning was bright. Caelen entered the mine with his drill in hand. Five meters remained before reaching the bottom.
He activated the drill. The noise resonated through the tunnel.

Dust rose into the air. The rocks trembled.
[4m. 5m – Drill Hit: Unusual Resistance Detected]
The drill had reached a standstill. Caelen peered downward. Something glimmered through the rock.
He knelt and brushed it off with his hand. A glowing silver-blue metal showed through.
"Mythril," Caelen said. He grinned widely.
He picked up his pickaxe and began digging around it.

Caelen threw each piece into his inventory.

He was exhausted, but his feet were quickly going up the mine.
At the top, Zira waited.
"You're back. Did you find it?"
Caelen produced a strip of glinting metal. "Yep. We struck it rich."
Zira smiled. "Good."
Rena and Miko ran up. "Is that magical metal?"
"Something like that," Caelen replied. "Now we can produce quality stuff."
He strode over to inspect the corn. The green stalks were bursting with goodness.

"Still have to wait," he said.
Then, he walked to the side of the house and constructed a tiny chicken coop.
He utilized some old wood, vines, and twigs. It wasn't much, but it served the purpose.

The four chickens clucked within, pecking the ground.
The children came running. "Can we eat one?"
Caelen shook his head. "Not yet. We want them to produce eggs and hatch more chickens."
"So. we eat berries again?" Rena frowned.
"For now, yeah."
The kids nodded. They got it.
Then they all heard something.
Crunch. Crunch.
Footsteps emerged from the forest. Slow and heavy.
Caelen took a step forward. Zira braced herself beside him.
A young goblin appeared in sight. He seemed injured. His arm was bleeding. Clothes ripped.
Zira gasped. "Garin?!"
The goblin boy blinked. "Zira. you're alive."
She rushed to him and made him sit down.
Caelen gave him water.
"What happened?"
"I was in the village when it was attacked. I ran. Hid in the woods. I thought I was the last one left."
Zira was on the verge of tears. "I'm glad you survived."
Garin gazed up at Caelen. "Is this where you live? Can I remain? I farmed before. I can assist."
Caelen glanced at Zira. She nodded.
He faced Garin. "Yeah. You can stay. You're safe here."
Garin grinned. It was tiny, but genuine.

At night, they fed Garin. Nothing exotic, just burned roots and preserved meat. But he devoured it like at a banquet.
The children interrogated him.
"Did you see the nasty people?"
"Were there more survivors?"
Garin replied around mouthfuls. "I didn't see anyone else. I hope some survived."
Zira sat close, watching him. She looked more at ease.
Later, Caelen checked his inventory. He had mythril, clay from earlier, firewood, bones, and ash.
"Tomorrow I'll start on the fertilizer," he said aloud.
Zira looked over. "Want help?"
He nodded. "Yeah. Could use it."

The stars were out. The fire crackled softly.
Caelen leaned back and looked up.
Zira joined him, her arms around her knees.
"You always manage to do it," she said.
He grinned. "I try."
She looked at him, then away. "Thanks. For assisting Garin."
Caelen nodded. "He's one of your people. That means something."
Zira remained silent, but smiled.
The children were already asleep indoors.
Tomorrow would be hectic, but tonight was peaceful.
And for the first time in some time, it felt like things were falling into place.
