They managed to capture several spies from other Warlords where mostly it’s from Cao Cao and Liu Biao, while Yuan Shao’s spies were also found among the people but not as many as Cao Cao and Liu Biao spies.

The spies were interrogated and then killed by the Orioles after digging up what kind of information they had managed to get and giving the contacts or informants they had in Xu Province.

When they received all of this information, the oriole then sent it to Jia Xu who then sorted all of the information he received, then presented it to Lie Fan to discuss it and decide what to do with the contacts or informants they managed to find.

Many of the informants or contacts that were managed to be dug up were mostly small merchants or unknown scholars, so they were easily captured by the Orioles under Lie Fan’s order, and had them either sign an agreement to become Lie Fan’s eternal supporter or had them killed if they were rejected and their wealth absorbed into Lie Fan’d force treasury.

From either solution, Lie Fan will receive benefits either support or money, don’t dismiss the kind of support small merchants and unknown scholars have, they were the majority of their industry, as there are not many big merchants and known scholars combined could have the same numbers they have.

While this essentially could be called a peaceful purge, it also alarmed the Nobles, Merchants, and Scholars of Xu Province, who were afraid that they would be next so those who had money decided to invest while those who had influence gave their support for Xiapi Expansion Project.

It should have been Lie Fan and his government who tread light because in this era Nobles, Merchants, and Scholars were the ones who were literate and could become officials in government and have a large influence.

The Nobles don’t dare to move due to Lie Fan’s suppression and his unknown means to find their corruptions and misdeeds, lastly, the scholars were suppressed by Cai Yong, Lu Zhi, and Zhuge Xuan who were heavyweight names in the Scholar circle.

So it can be said Lie Fan’s force was the most stable and whatever project or things or law he wanted to enact was passed by easily since there was no resistance, unlike other forces where even Cao Cao and Yuan Shao still needed to at least respect them due to their support come from them.

While the undercurrents of Lie Fan’s domain were steady and without any problem, at Yang Province, the net that was cast by Sun Jian for Liu Yao finally caught Liu Yao who was already in a very desperate situation.

Liu Yao after waking up found out that his Capital had been surrounded by Sun Jian with an additional 40,000 men under Yu Mi and Hua Xin, truly making him like a turtle caught inside his shell.

So under heavy pressure and in full panic, Liu Yao’s defenses were full of loopholes which Sun Jian took advantage of, and with Yu Mi and Hua Xin who knew Liu Yao’s capital like the back of their own hand, after several days of skirmishes the Eastern and Northern Gate of Liu Yao’s capital managed to be breakthrough.

With this, Sun Jian ordered his forces to storm Liu Yao’s Capital, where Yu Mi and Hua Xin were assigned to the vanguard forces leading the attack.

Yu Mi led the attack capturing several important points immediately after he entered Liu Yao’s capital, while Hua Xin persuaded Liu Yao’s retainers and soldiers they had taken captive to change their loyalty to Sun Jian.

Liu Yao who knew that Sun Jian’s Army was approaching his location, decided to pack all of his belongings and ordered the battalion under his personal command to protect him and his family, as they left the town from the South Gate, and headed toward Liu Biao.

He ignored the pleading of his advisors who told him to stay and lead his army, but unfortunately for him when he and his family under the protection of his personal battalion heading toward the southern gate, were caught up by Sun Jian and his army.

Sun Jian: "Haha! Liu Yao! Why are you trying to leave so soon?! I was going to visit you inside the Govermor’s Castle! I was bearing gifts for you also!"

Liu Yao: "Sun Wentai! You ungrateful bastard! I allow you to reside in Yuzhang and this is how you relay me?! Allying with Lie Fan and attacking me?!"

Sun Jian: "Oh please you allowed us to stay at Yuzhang?! I led my army and navy to conquer Yuzhang by force and managed to take it under My rule! If you weren’t so incompetent maybe you still hold Yuzhang and wouldn’t give me the chance to rise again!"

Liu Yao: "You Shameless Bastard! Even though you took Yuzhang from me, I didn’t send any of my soldiers to retake it from your hand which means that I let you have Yuzhang!"

Sun Jian: "You didn’t send your soldiers because you were at war with Sheng Xian at the time and were at important conjecture so you can’t send your soldiers to attack me, so now just surrender and you can stay alive to accompany your family."

Liu Yao: "Haha! You have no choice but to keep me alive Sun Wentai! If you don’t want to become like Gongsun Zan and be attacked from all sides!"

When Sun Jian finished saying his words, Liu Yao was struck by lightning as he realized that what Sun Jian said was right, in a panicked voice Liu Yao ordered his men to protect his rear while he and his army continued to head toward the southern gate.

The General of his battalion hearing this was disheartened by the decision Liu Yao made, but nonetheless, he ordered his men to protect Liu Yao and ordered his second in command to escort Liu Yao and his family.

Sun Jian who was keeping an eye on Liu Yao’s movement saw that Liu Yao decided to do something, so he ordered his army to attack and capture Liu Yao they can if not then they could kill him, as for Liu Yao’s family they have to be captured alive don’t let any harm befallen them.

Sun Jiao’s men immediately head toward Liu Yao’s position to capture him, Huang Gai & Han Dang lead the attack and they easily push through the defenses Liu Yao’s men put up.

Seeing that the attack had started, Liu Yao and his family began to head toward the southern gate guarded by a small group of his best men alongside the second in command of his personal battalion.

As Liu Yao’s personal battalion managed to block Sun Jian and his army for a short amount of time, Liu Yao and his family managed to reach the southern gate but unfortunately for him, Yu Mi and Hua Xin were waiting for him there alongside their men.

Liu Yao seeing the two of them told them to step aside that he would forgive their past transgression of betraying him, and that he would petition the Emperor to promote them.

Yu Mi and Hua Xin ignored his words and sent their men to capture Liu Yao and his family, Liu Yao’s men didn’t stand a chance against the number that came upon them, and in a short time, Liu Yao and his family managed to be captured.

Yu Mi ordered them to tie them up and after that, he alongside Hua Xin brought Liu Yao and his family to Sun Jian who had bested Liu Yao’s personal battalion easily.

Liu Yao was put to his knees and seeing Sun Jian’s face he launched a tirade of insult and mockery at Sun Jian, Sun Jian just looked upon him while Liu Yao said all kinds of foul language he knew and stopped when he was finally tired.

Seeing that Liu Yao had finally stopped, Sun Jian smiled and told Liu Yao that he had lost and that he should tell him where he hid the seal of Yang Province Governorship and gave it to him.

Liu Yao who heard that let out a maniacal laugh, something that even Liu Yao’s wife and kids had never seen before, after laughing he told Sun Jian that he would never tell him and that he cursed Sun Jian that the Sun Clan would never become a hegemon as they would only serve other.

After that, he bit his tongue so hard that he managed to bite it off, making him to bleed from his mouth and causing everyone that see this panic, except for Sun Jian who had seen the suicidal eyes Liu Yao has.

Liu Yao’s family let out mournful cries and wails as they saw Liu Yao fall onto the ground with a large amount of blood coming out from his mouth, when the doctors were called and saw this they knew that they couldn’t help Liu Yao so they shake their head toward Sun Jian, who in return wave his hand to say that it was okay and look up to the sky tho king that if Liu Yao’s words will come true that the Sun Clan will never become a great power or even a hegemon of this land, not knowing that in the original timeline, it does come true but at the cost of his and Sun Ce’s death.
